bobthemac
I think I have done something really stupid again I was testing my new radio I had it working quite well then put the pinion on my car I tested again and the car accelerated nicely I was also testing the steering and it turned then stopped turning and wouldn't respond but the throttle would respond. I switched the throttle and steering and the steering worked on the throttle and the throttle didn't work on the steering wheel. On closer inspection my servo has caught the drive shaft and the cable had split. The servo then stopped responding all together once I had put some electrical tape round it and on the trigger it then worked again if I put it on channel one it still didn't respond but if I put it on channel three it worked. Is it possible to short out a channel on a receiver it's brand new and I just got it today with my new transmitter should it not work or should it work. I don't want to say it doesn't work to modelsport who I bought it from as I think I am the one who broke it so is it possible that it wasn't me or is it most likely that my stupidity has cost me again. bobthemac
there is no damage to show on the receiver unless you mean the servo but the servo is tested and working I am wondering if I have shorted the receiver. bobthemac
Here is the servo cut as you can see it went through all the orange wire but only skimmed the red and didn't touch the browns . With a bit of tape holding the wires together it still works perfectly. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/30028-/
Alex97
You are having some really bad luck mate. I've never had that issue before so I can't comment. I hope that you get it sorted.
bobthemac
Yeah I know only run it twice so far that us better than the one run I manage on nitro when the new engine exploded during run in. Fix one issues and another arises. Still trying to find out if it is possible to short out a channel on my receiver.
Alex97
I had my fair share of bad luck when I first started but touch wood I haven't really had many problems.
lilllad83
Contact Modelsport and explain the situation, they are pretty good usually so it's worth an ask.. May still be covered by warranty for that circumstance.. they might even sort you out if its not you never know!
atom3624
If you have no joy with Modelsport, but I'm sure they'll come up with something, the Ko Propo repairs specialist can help you out - he's done a few similar-type repairs for me in the past. Name is Derek Bailey - just Google Ko Propo in UK and you'll find his contact details. Al.

Noj
Bob, how much lead is there between the servo and the severed lead? Is there sufficient length to reach the Rx, if a new plug was attached? If so, I can repair the servo lead for you, just needs a new connector crimping on
Shudson
Bob, how much lead is there between the servo and the severed lead? Is there sufficient length to reach the Rx, if a new plug was attached? If so, I can repair the servo lead for you, just needs a new connector crimping on It is easy enough to replace the complete lead if the break is too near the servo. I suspect, from looking at the photo that, when the lead was damaged, the signal lead was shorted to +ve and whilst I am not too familiar with this particular servo, most will not tolerate that. If it is 3 channel, it may be possible to modify the transmitter to utilise the third channel instead.
bobthemac
The servo works I put some electrical tape round it but if it goes again I can just use my spare. Only reason I want to use this one is it has metal gears and accordion to the guy in the shop if I hit something hard it is less likely to strip the gears as it would apparently do with a plastic one which is my spare. Noj
He is correct, and MG servos tend to be tourquier as well
M1tchy
Is your tx 3 channel? Also does it have channel mixing? I'm just wondering if it would be possible to run the servo off channel 3 and mix channel 1 at 100%. Just thinking aloud and may be wrong.
