Trying to put together a Kit ...

I'm trying to put together a kit for a Christmas present for someone who wants to tinker and build an RC car, ... I've picked out what I think works, suits their tastes and will give them something fun to build, use recreationally and give room for improvement ... but I don't have the experience to know for sure that the below items will allow them to build a working RC car and despite reading a guide I still have no clue what pinion gear to get ... I was wondering if I might request some help?

I've got the following so far in my basket,

Schumacher Mi1 - 4WD Touring Car Kit

Actually I'd say that most of that is a pretty excellent starting point. Much better than a crumby old Tamiya (even though the Mi1 is in fact an ancient Schumacher design!)

Go lipo from the start - no point messing with NiMH's. They are old tech and frankly life got a whole lot easier when lipos came around.

Hobbyking is your source for lipos - just make sure you get from the UK warehouse. This charger and this battery would be perfect but there are lots of options.

Pinion wise you need a 48dp pinion of around 22t. The perfect number depends on your exact setup but 22t would be a reasonable place to start.

You've got the wrong type of battery pack. You want a 7.2v Nimh battery, or a 7.4v LiPo.

You don't need reciever battery as its powered by the esc not sure but on pinion mate

This Nimh seems good, and then this charger will do.

Or, you could look at LiPo batteries if you wanted slightly better performance, but Nimhs are easier to use and ideal for a beginner

*face palm* Thanks ya'll. I... completely spaced on the charger/batt pick .. you saved me.
