  1. Ok as title states. Let's have your car, your gearing and GPS results. Obviously pics from apps etc welcome. Please keep estimates and such to a minimum. This isn't a top speed thread but rather a helpful list of our setups and speeds for various rc's. D8Te - Trackstar 2350kv motor / 20t pinion / 50t spur / 5s Lipo / Grass : 37.8mph. Will update with tarmac run soon as I get a dry day. And get a screen grab. Post your own setups / pics / vids below. Let's get a nice load of data

    lol :)

Enjoyed that I must admit. Nice to see a diff use of RC. Hill climbing could be quite interesting at that level.
  3. Thus why I think the Trackstar`s aint as good as they seem. Mind you it was 38mph on un-even grass land. Should try and get a test done today on tarmac.....
  4. Just grabbed a Castle motor in disguise as a Traxxas motor. DollarHobbyz.
  5. Chassis is a good bit longer so that might grant a little extra room for a larger or longer motor atleast.
  6. Do want.... BADLY! But going to wait till I can maybe find one minus radio equipment. And till theres a clear shell Tho still torn on wether or not to order one up myself and ignore a new motor for my d8t.

Cheers mydoddy69, think i,ll be ordering one up come pay day. Trackstars holding up, but gets hot about 60-70% thru a pack.

  7. About to re-build front end of D8T after crash last week. Nothing broken just needs re-built.
  8. I use a 30W iron and maplin solder. Never had any issues, and I use it on everything from tiny wires on my 1/36 scale right up to the thicker gauge stuff on my 1/8th scale. Just make sure both surfaces are hot enuff that the solder is actually gelling to them and not just sitting on top.
  9. Wow, that got out of hand fast. But then that will always be the case when you have a can fuel of flammable liquid and are driving straight into it!!
  10. This RTR beast comes out next month on that site. Only truggy other than the D8T that has me dribbling.
  11. I get same with my Trackstar 2350kv motor. Tried 15t/20t on both 4s and 5s. Gets hot every time. Was going to get a replacement this month as Im fed-up of it getting so hot.
  12. Lol 65mph! On 4s? I cant get that on my D8T with 5s and 20t pinion!!
  13. Well just because I jinxed myself with the broken rod end. Been out and in all day, on my 3rd battery out and in a nice secluded wooded area doing a few jumps and drifts thru the dry dirt. Sadly after 4pm where I stay the park fills up with kids. Nevermind I thought, well a few shall we say children of gypsy decent start to crowd me. So one then trys to take the wrench out my back pocket as I`m standing there racing around with the D8T. Then as I turn round to grab the little sod the car goes straight into a tree, thankfully finger off throttle, but with no drag brake it still hit with some force! Little **** head scalded and my stuff collected up, made a bee-line for the house to inspect the damage. Answer... NOTHING!! Nothing is broken, all the impact did was knock my front rear brace out of its threads. So a rebuild tomorrow night and I should be running again. Anyways heres a pic. D8T = Bomb proof!!
  14. Really eager to know if a 1/8th truggy will fit in this.
  15. Had mine 3 years. Ive only broken a push rod end. Which was arleady weakened from a large cut a stone made in it. Watched the thing do a 30 or 40 roll cartwheel last week twice down a hill. Only knocked my servo saver off a little, so reset it and im fine. I also like to use mine to jump the walkway in the park, which it clears with about 3 feet of air.
  16. Go for a D8Te, I love the fact its a little rare and has its own unique shell. Tho i also own a D8Te, there money pits if you go for kit+tekno+electrics. But I had to own one! That Serpent tho is a bloomin close 2nd mind you. However most common one`s at present on here seems to be a Losi 8ight 2.0 or a Hyper ST Pro. Tho from what Ive seen on here it would also seem most folk just do a quick conversion onto old Nitro`s and save a few quid.
  17. Did this with an old x1 buggy, didnt make much diff and I ended up going back to buggy tyres as they were more "skatey" and felt more nimble than the truggy`s did.
  18. Yeah lets see. Am considering wether or not to recommend this to a mate as a 1st drifter on the cheap.
  19. Bugger! I used to do it by hand aswell and it was fiddly as threading a needle at points. Had planned the magnification stand would of helped a bit, might aswell try maybe sea-sick was just unique to your experience of it. And YEAH! The old white metal, I was actually going to ask you if they still were using that, as it was awesome to work with. Used to use a tiny hacksaw to cut thru arms/legs etc and reposition them. Also good for getting legs adjusted when you want a marine standing on something, such as a crushed helmet or fallen weapon etc. CBA relearning new rules etc for any of the games, but deffo would love to paint up a few more figures. Tho Ive played, Warhammer normal and 40k (tho 40k is amagad sweet), Necromunda, Gorka Morka (was weird but cool), the game with the WH40K Titans in (name evades me) and probs a few others Ive forgotten. Basically age 10-15 I was nuts for anything Citadel. Even phoned up when the 40k ThunderHawk Gunships were first cast age about 12, to be told they`d cost me
  20. 2 days off and 2 straight days of dry 18-19degree sunshine. So thats 2 days to rally about the park with my D8T.

  21. Have been poised to do the same a few times Zardoz. Might need to pick up a set of paints/washes and some brushes again. Do a figure for fun. Wonder what cool new Space Marine stuff they have..... Magnifying stand. Got one with my last solder station.
  22. Miss my 40k. HHad it all stolen out of my special converted garage that had 2 massive battlefields set up, each for our 5k battle point armys and ofc my collection on the shelfs. Some local vandals got in smashed it all to hell, stole or broke the figures. So I gave up after household insurance wouldnt help due to it being a garage. Tho had Blood Angel army, then Sisters of Battle, then Chaos for a long time, then a full Legion of The Damned Chapter or close too it. Even made several diorama`s including one of Ezekiel and his followers from the Dark Angels, entering a space hulk with Gene stealers still in there egg sacs and one bursting out Alien style in the corridor above. Obviously rather decent at the painting side. Was about same myself. Cant beat some washes and a bit of dry brushing to make these models shine. Jewels and eyes are the AMAGAD, fiddly bits!!
