  1. Interesting! My friends MT2 had this in the fuel tank the other day, took it out and it ran though, couldn't see where it came from.
  2. Didn't get much of a response when I added this as an update in an older thread of mine, so decided to make a new one. "I once posted about (not in this thread i don't think) about the EZ-start not priming the engine for me and me having to use a finger over exhaust as well as the EZstart. Now it's even more of an issue, because the finger + EZ-start method doesn't work any more. The only way I can prime it now is by starting off with some fuel in the carb so it fires up straight away, pulling fuel in itself. What do you think the problem is? I thought air-leak to begin with, so replaced both fuel tubings (pressure pipe and fuel intake). The problem's still there, however I've now shortened the fuel intake tube a LOT so that I can prime it in the method described above. The fuel tank is sealed as well as I can see (seems to form a vacuum when opening and closing the lid, and there's no fuel leak). Help! "
  3. I have one for you; turn caps lock off.

    Jato problem

Another update. (oof, 3 posts in a row, but new posts stand out more than edits). Today, it ran! Needs a good tuning now, but at least it starts up and moves. However, starting is still an issue. Jato problem

New glowplug arrived, the standard delivery time from JE Spares is amazing! However the EZ-start still seems to be out of battery, which is rather odd; a 16+ hour charge for the battery to last less than 10 minutes of use.

    Jato problem

Whoops my mistake, I did lean them, I just made the mistake when typing here.

    Jato problem

Update. I tried leaning both the high and low end screws, and this had no effect. Took longer until it would turn over by itself at all, too. Also, the EZ-start died down as if low on battery (i charged it last night). Checked to see if it was flooded but it wasn't. Do you think the EZ-start battery will have lost all of its charge already?

    Jato problem

Could be, especially as I was running it rich at low end the last time I was using it. I'll try again, I suppose.

    Jato problem

Yeah, it was run in with no problems. It's a bit of a bummer if it's the glowplug though because I don't have a spare
  10. Trying to get it working for the first time in a month or two because the weather's slightly better. When i start the engine up it'll idle for about half a second or so and then cut off, no matter how far open/closed the carb is. However, if i keep the button held down on the EZ-start it'll chug away for as long as it wants, but as soon as i turn the EZ-start off the engine'll cut off again. I think this is caused by a faulty glowplug, even though it manages to start for a second. Any other offers?

I use Microsoft SyncToy to copy across folders which I want to back up. Useful small application available here.
  12. Time for another update! Encountered problems today. First problem: Today the EZ-start decided not to prime the engine. Not a large trouble but I'm unsure to why that happened, because it managed to pull fuel through half of the tubing before getting stuck. Still, The use of conventional priming methods worked and I got it running in no problem. Second problem: The pre-glued tyres aren't pre-glued very well! I didn't check for this when I first got the car, but it turned out not to be a problem and nothing happened when I was running on road. Today I took it down to a recreation ground where there's some very low grass and the foam insert of one of the rear wheels popped out. Oops! This made for a nice long walk back home to dry the insert and re-glue the tyre. Not great really because I'd been through about 1/12th of the tank! Looking at the tyre there were some left over glue patches, so it wasn't a factory fault (it was probably caused by wheelspin and unstoppable donuts. Third problem (well, more of an issue): The Jato doesn't like grass. At all. It doesn't like to run on grass over around 1 inch high, which is a bit of a problem because it makes finding somewhere to use it practically impossible! Fourth problem (again more of an issue): I wish it were 4-wheel drive. If you accelerate at anything over very, very slowly it will just spin around. I think that more than half of the time I was using it today was spent trying to get it up to speed so as that I could actually drive it in a straight line, which is still hard even at half throttle. One of the reasons for this is because it was wet grass, but I know that if it were 4-wheel drive it would be able to handle it well and be a lot more fun. It really needs a light, dusty surface to run on, which is impossible to find because a) I live in Staffordshire and b ) it's winter so the ground's going to be wet anyway. Apart from that it's ran fine, still not stalled apart from when starting, where the engine may start once and stall immediately. I'm used to much worse than that! Also, I've managed to get it into second gear (without fiddling) so all is well!

I can set you up a virgin media email account if you want, PM me if you do.
  14. The Fastrax high capacity glow charger is a popular one. I don't own one, but there's a review of it on here somewhere and the battery lasts ages compared to most glow starters.
