  1. My thoughts exactly, tbh a more upto date setup would be nice, i on the other had have just thrown in what i had, one thing i did notice was the motor had span on its faceplate to about 45 degrees off axis the motor isnt broken the faceplate screws in and out for cleaning. but in not noticing have i altered the timing causing all the heat ?
  2. bit of a problem, ive just had my scrt10 out for a spin and it just stopped, bit of clicking and clacking like it was cogging causing me to whip the shell off to avoid a magic smoke moment. as i took the shell off i noticed the battery and motor wires had melted through the cover i run over the chassis, and the motor and esc were too hot to touch now ive experienced a bit of heat before nothing like this tho even started running well over geared at 17 tooths to lose some heat previous to today to make it easier for a diagnosis heres what im running 3s lipo 3400kv L can inrunner Oldschool MM external bec only thing i can think of if the MM int coping with the motor ? or is there something else ?

  7. hang on lads, if i were he i would go for a shimano setup as most shifters run the same ratio, unlike sram which have a 1.1 ratio meaning you can only run sram shifters costing him more
  8. trigger shifters are the way forwards although if your putting some power down and you change up three gears and it skips its not fun when your nads hit your stem,
  9. im running 8sp with deore hardware tis very nice never seen the point in 9sp but i am a big lad so ive never needed the extra gear on the steep bits i must say i went from halo to american classic wheels with ceramic bearings and its made me onto a bit of a road freak i love riding across town full pelt hardly ever go offroad these days best thing to do is race a mate topgear style through town the bike wins everytime just took delivery of one of these http://www.mongoose....R-Maurice-CroMo for some cruising fun times
  10. what handke bars were you running they have a nice rise, im after some decent risers for my FIXIE !
  11. Argos, tesco, asda and anywhere else selling cheap bikes do not give a flying toss about the customer, the only way the bikes they sell stay within BS standard is if you dont ride it. any faults wont get fixed your lucky if you dont have one and the replacement bike you get will probably have a major issue somewhere down the line my advice: save up and buy something in the

  13. i dont need to know what motor to run.... iknow what im gonna use im wondering what size i should get, oddly the best motors ive ever ran are vxl 3500 motors dunno why theyve been the best all round for speed and power only thing is the front cap comes off after a while
  14. you would be right in saying i dont need torque your not running a set of 8ight shocks, plus a few other bits and a 3s lipo which is lighter than nimh but not that light, at the last weigh in it was nearly 3kg about 1/1.5kg more than stock plus more torque means a cooler motor making my life easier
  15. Right i killed my BL motor yesterday. i need a new one and i have a few questions. BL motor size has an effect on its amp draw and the torque it can deliver. im no expert but this is the way i see things. AFAIK A 540 BL motor has a can legnth of 50mm and a diameter of 36mm ? and a shaft size on 3mm, (less torque more revs higher amp draw but less weight ????) An Large can motor such as my 3400L that ive just broken has a can legnth of 60mm and a shaft size of 5mm, ( less revs, lower amp draw more torque more weight ???) if im wrong and a 540 motor has a 40mm can legnth, i have obviously fitted a very large motor and its probs why i keep killing diffs. what im really looking for any my golden question is, if i go smaller such as a 4000kv 50mm can is this the same size as a 540 motor or is it bigger and will i still be benefitting from the all important extra torque, ?????
  16. lol cheers was a bit shocked when i saw the e clip then it all suddenly made sense

IVE moded mine lots : Losi 8ight 15mm big bore shocks Front edit pivot block Rear edit hubs bluebird high torque servo MM esc 3800L motor external BEC F/R t bone bumpers running 32dp gears 50/14 Axial 2.2 beadlocks Ceramic bearings Probs forgotten about some bits ill get a decent photo tommrow
  18. I HAS FOUND ZE PROBLEM it was a large e clip, upon dismantling the motor with the use of my friend brute force, i discovered a large e clip clinging to the rotor, which was probably shorting on the coils i fitted it all back together and tested it all was well until the coils wrapped themselves around the rotor in a big smokey mess WHAT IVE LEARNED : Dont leave a motor in a parts tub with other metal parts Dont a motor into your car before you've removed all the metal parts it has picked up
