  1. Why would you need to get the bumper sprayed? It wasn't body coloured...
  2. I bought the limited edition so I get a machine gun early, a gold clan tag and double points for a week. And annoyingly a hip flask that you can't open! I was killing two birds with one stone I thought as I wanted the game and a hip flask! Stoopid non-alchohol liking games developers. Like a kid's really likely to fill it with whiskey!
  3. I've got one more picture of the Polo, kind of an action shot. (Colours a bit weird on the car as my mates played with the shot to try and cut out some of the fluorescent lighting effect). When I had the car MOT'd in August the tester didn't even bat an eye lid about the tyres. I haven't had any issue with grip or with them losing pressure and I've taken some roundabouts very "enthusiastically". I don't tend to push on too much in the wet though as light car with wide tyres (regardless of stretch) can make things a bit hairy. I've been followed by and overtaken by Police cars (its only a 1.05l) and never had any issues and I work opposite the Police station. It's one of those very grey areas in modifying. Some people love it, others hate it, but labelling someone potentially a mass murderer because of having stretched tyres seems a little harsh. Oh, and if drifters fitted stretched tyres to reduce grip surely they'd be better off running on space savers? They fit stretched tyres so that they can run wider wheels whilst keeping the tyre out of the way of the wing so it doesn't wear the tyre on the bodywork and because it gives more predictable handling characteristics because they don't have a nasty floppy tyre wall doing weird stuff!
  4. Chances are its the resistor I'd have thought. Older cars generally have a coil type resistor and because they're generally just tucked under the bonnet somewhere usually towards the back of the engine bay near the wiper motor they get wet and slowly corrode. It will probably look a bit like the brown tube in this picture.
  5. You need to put the IP address for your X-Box in the DMZ (De-militarised zone) so that its outside all your firewalls etc. Should be settings in the router part of your hub.
  6. X-box 360 60gb + Wireless Network adapter =
  7. A car with HID's should have automatic levelling. I've got them on my Fabia and you don't have a level adjustment control as the car sorts it all out itself. The only time HID's will be at the wrong level is when someone has retro-fitted them to a car. And really it is just the load, because the more weight in the boot of the car the lower the back end so the lights point up higher. Normal setting should be 0 for when you have an empty boot. The more weight you put in the back the more you need to increase the number to angle the lights back down. The road shouldn't really have anything to do with it. If its a lumpy road then you'll end up dazzling people occasionally regardless.
  8. It won't have drums and discs on the back. It's one or the other. On a Merc I'd guess they're probably discs. Drum brake (pads are internal and are pushed outwards to rub against the inside of the drum). On a drum brake its only really the drum that radiates heat, and because its generally trapped inside the drum they can overheat and tend to fade fairly quickly under repeated heavy braking. Disc brake (pads are held in caliper). Discs perform better as they can radiate heat directly into the atmosphere from the disc surface, and often the inside of the disc is ventilated too improving heat dissipation. Generally less prone to fade and the bigger they are the better they'll deal with heat.
  9. Jesus, you've obviously all been driving for years! Drum brakes are only on the back of lower powered cars. Something as light as a 106 doesn't really need discs on the rear. 90% of your stopping power comes from the front anyway so it's not going to make a great deal of difference whether or not you've got drums or discs on the back. Biggest difference between modern cars and older stuff is ABS. ABS you can just stamp on and not worry about locking up. It when you don't have ABS you need to be more careful and you should learn how to cadence break or get a good feel for when your wheels are locking and feather the pedal accordingly (threshold braking). If you're going to speed a motorway or dual carriageway will be the safest place to do it for exactly the reasons stated before. No pedestrians, no oncoming traffic and generally far better road surfaces. Now lets all get off our soap boxes and put our bibles away.
  10. What if the Mother's dead? What happens then?
  11. I'll drink most stuff, but I've mainly been buying San Miguel recently as its a good summer beer. I'm also a fan of Ale, so stuff like Tanglefoot, Batemans XXXB, Marstons Old Empire (It's an IPA so another good summer drink). Pedigree, stuff like that. I also like Magners and Strongbox but I'm more of a beer man. You also can't go wrong with a nice bottle of red wine from time to time. I'm usually a Cabernet Shiraz kind of man, stuff like Rosemount Estate or Hardys although Sainsbury's do a Californian red called Fish Eye which is really nice.
  12. If you take it into Gamestation I think they offer a disk skimming service where they polish the clear layer to remove scratches. Might be worth a go.
  13. Some amps can be run in tri-mode too, where you run speakers off the left and right channel and then a sub off bridged, but its usually more expensive amps that let you do that. Might be worth looking on TalkAudio in the For Sale section you can get some really really good amps 2nd hand for peanuts.
  14. Just done some quotes on a 1.05l Polo and the cheapest I've got is
  15. Mk3 Polo FTW!!! This ones mine, its a 1.05l Fox so its not that quick (but not stupidly slow) you can pick up a bog standard one for around
  16. You have to pay to use the voice navigation side of things, but it doesn't add it on to your bill, you have to take out a subscription with Nokia, so don't worry about using it. The only thing you have to be careful with is that it tries to connect to the Internet and if you let it then it'll start to use up your bandwidth allowance and you may end up paying then. The version that comes installed on it you can use like a route planner, so it'll find where you are and then you can plan a route from there to wherever you need to go. Useful if you get lost. The new version of Maps won't let you do that.
  17. I have to watch the needle go in. Not watching would make it worse in my opinion.
  18. I've given 5 pints so far so I've got my blue card. Once I found out they kept score I was hooked lol. I'm Type O positive. It seems to get easier every time you donate as well. First time I felt a bit weird afterwards, but since then I've been fine every time and it seems to hurt less too.

So far I've managed to avoid pissing too many people off when I go over a speedbump in the Polo. If its a big one I have to go diagonally as slowly as possible and then wince like hell when the exhaust drags over it! I hate speedbumps! Oh and low and slow FTW!
