  1. Lol! That is awesome!! Possibly the best eBay feedback I have ever seen! As stated above though, you'd think the buyer would have asked for tyre sizes before buying. Just goes to show how stupid people can be. Bet darwins turning in his grave!
  2. It's always nice to hear of someone being re-kindled to RC in that fashion. Especially someone who enjoys the tinkering! Welcome to the forum!
  3. Anyone know a good shop to buy the Traxxas Slash 4x4 17mm Hex Conversion?? Part No TRX 6856X shown here :- http://www.modelsport.co.uk/traxxas-17mm-wheels-hubs-4-blue-slash-4x4-stampede-4x4/rc-car-products/39678 Either here or abroad, i dont mind. But considering picking up the Revo/Maxx hexes can be done for about
  4. Agreed with the above. C rating makes a huge difference. I've seen what a brushless beast can do to low C packs and it's not pretty! From a performance point of view, it reduces heat build up and increases punch and top speed noticeable.
  5. Depends what you mean by "service" if I was running it competitively, I would change the shock oils and diff oils every couple of months, but when just bashing, as needed really. It's always worth checking your bearings during a strip down and change any that are sloppy, a collapsed bearing in the centre transition for example can make a real mess to the cases, gears and other bearings.
  6. I've got a few to chose from too. Held an RC part in my mouth while super gluing it, glued my lips together. Set my testicles on fire when I was 13. Thread was hanging out of my trackie bottoms, picked up a nearby lighter and lit it, didn't realise there was a hole in my trousers and the thread came from my boxers Whitch were surprisingly flammable! There was a 6 inch hole on them and spent the rest of the day holding various bags of frozen veg on my 2 veg.
  7. I've run the Xerun 80a and 150a combos in all manor of 1/8s including truffles and had no problems. One of the boys at our bash meet has a trophy truth flux, and to be fair, it shifts well! I don't think you could go wrong with either, if warranty concerns you, HPI is definitely the way to go, especially with castle products, mother often need it, I've never had a bad Xerun, there awesome! but in the inevitable event that someone does get a bad one sooner or later, I fear they would have trouble with support.
  8. am surprised how many were caught by this! All aside though, if that truck were real, id buy it in a heartbeat!!!!
  9. I also have to agree. The e-flight blade helis are awesome! Really worth the money. The blade MCX2 may be just a co-axial, but it's so stable it's a dream to fly and learn on. And it will take all the punishment under the sun. If your feeling adventurous the blade MSRX is an awesome fixed pitch intermediate heli. (I learned to fly on one of these) It's tough too, falls from the sky and rarely breaks too. In my opinion the 3ch metal bodied cheapie helis are false economy, especially the infra red controlled ones. I've tried a few over the years, the tail rotor that tilts them forward for forward flight is usually pathetically underpowered making it boring and frustrating to fly. And go out of infra red range and they drop like a rock and usually bend or break. May as well make the things out of glass! Mine have more often than not ended up in the nearest bin within hours of purchase due to excessive bending of the chassis. (there are some decent quality toy grade micro helis, but even there
  10. make sure you send the ESC back to HPI too.
  11. Swings and Roundabouts mate... We cant really advise you as some people are leccy fans, others are nitro fans. Its about whats right for you. What do you like about Nitro? What appeals to you with Electric?? Answer these questions yourself and you will have your answer.. Personally i prefer the simple running and superior Nitro Busting performance that Brushless gives as although i love the sound of Petrol, Nitros just sound awfull, but some people love them.
  12. As above, it depends... Ive been here many years, and have over 3 pages positive feedback on models ive sold, If dealing with a simmilar member, i just post at the same time. (Have done a few trades here and all have went smoothly.) If im trading with a new, unproven member however, i will expect them to post first, and i recieve and check before i post, if they have a problem with this, i will simply deal with someone else. (Providing you have an established trading feedback of course, (if not, i doubt others would do this)
  13. Wan2Learn. I have to agree with others here. Although the Revo says its 1/10 on the box, its actually about the same size and build statistics as most 1/8 scale, The Revo on dimensions and part thicknesses etc will go toe to toe with a Savage X. if you went to a proper 1/10 i guarantee you you will be sorely dissapointed. Although the Revo engine is somewhare between a 1/8 ~ 1/10 (its about a .21) larger engines are far more forgiving than .15s ~ .18s you will find on proper 1/10 scale models. Admiteedly, Traxxas 3.3 Engines are fussy, and difficult to find a steady tune on, the 2.5R's were much easier. personally, i hate Traxxas Powerplants across the board. nitro/electric, there all problematic. But i find their chassis designs for the most part, second to none! If you think the Revo is over-engineered and hard to strip, the Savage is far worse to take apart. Dont get me wrong, the Savage has a huge following and is a great truck in its own right, but doesnt have a patch on a Revo. As stated, id find someone local with some experience to help you, and id perservere, As if you can tune a TRX3.3 and strip a Revo, then your ready to take on anything.
  14. Swapped my Savage Flux for a Slash 4x4 ultimate today!!

Financially, i know its technically a bad deal, but its the right deal for me, Savages just Suck!!

  15. I apologise if I am stating the obvious, but have you tried a new plug?
  16. I too am an advocate of traxxas. Mainly because the parts are dirt cheap compared to the likes of HPI. You can't go wrong with a slash 4x4 really. Fantastic chassis. If you fancy satisfying the truck urge, the stampede 4x4 is based on the slash and is also excellent. You will need lipos and charger for any decent brushless RC, so it may be worth putting your budget towards one whole setup, and get another car later.
  17. When I used to own a km Baja, after a nasty smash with another Baja I bought a load of shenqi bits to replace the km ones, and they were awfull. The plastic was brittle as hell. I ditched them and went HPI or aftermarket.
  18. Don't worry, we've all done it our way despite advice and suffered the consequences at some time or other. The knowledge and first hand experience you gain from making mistakes is invaluable. I wouldn't change my stupidity for anything, as it's taught me a lot!
  19. I use a program called SpashtopHD on my iPad 2 to control both my Win XP PC and my Win7 Media Centre. (i can even play civilisation 5 with it.) i also use a program called AirVideo to on the fly convert video files and watch entire TV series and films from my PC on my ipad2 without having to "pre prepare" the files to an apple compatable format.
  20. Surely Asking such a Question on ModelsportUK's Forum should give an indication of the predictable answers... In all seriousness though, Modelsport, JE Spares, would be my top two.
  21. Excellent choice, like many here I have owned a massive amount of cars over the years. (stopped updating my sig ages ago) and the e-revo is the finest RC I have ever owned. By far!! Like any truck it has it's issues, but it's an insane truck!
  22. i own Three Savox 1256's One of them ive had for years!!! Finest servos i have ever owned..
  23. I like FPV although this sort of comes under the umbrella of rc, I have developed a healthy interest in wireless video/audio transition equipment and radio frequencies and antennas. It's surprising what you can do with a little know how and a willingness to experiment. I am also a keen paintballer, have been an own gunner and gone to large, organised events for a decade or so. I am looking to switch to air soft at some point as there's nowhere local that lets me take my own guns and finding a supplier for compressed air at 5000 psi is difficult as even most dive shops won't fill my paintball bottles as they are unfamilliar with them, even though there hydro tested and in date. I'm also into online gaming on the pc, and overclocking and customising my rig, but this has taken a backseat in recent years.
