  1. Apart from needing to tweak the body post height to allow clearance for the cables my VSe is now ready to run. I've gone with a neon green and pearl white paintjob for a change as I usually go purples and blues. Just went out into the communal garden/carpark to give it a quick run and man this thing is fast. it is only on 4S but is is way more lively than the same powertrain in my E-Savage ever was. At some point i will order the SkyRC GPS logger to see how fast it goes on the stock pinion.
  2. I have a few long M3 screws and put one into the brace with a bit of old fuel line for some protection.
  3. I might look at mounting in the centre diff brace. I need to dig through the box of random Rc bits to see if I have something i can use as a platform for it to sit on. Had to take the Dremel to the battery tray to fit in my packs: Also worked on the cable routing and connected up everything to the receiver so I could centre the servo and connect up the linkage: I might see if one of the turnbuckles I have spare could be mounted between the centre diff and the rear brace to give a more elegant route for the cables. I am just waiting on a set of extension cables for the motor so I can test this beast. 😃
  4. I have joined the Hyper VSe owners club! 😁 I have just started building up the Rolling chassis kit that arrived this morning, transferring over the electronics from my E-Savage and my EB4-S3. I need to order some bits so I can mount the Max8 ESC nicely. One thing I have yet to work out is how best to mount the switch. can anyone post some pics of where they have mounted their switches to give me some ideas please? cheers! Old XP DS1015 servo from the EB4 mounted Leopard Hobby 4074 200Kv motor from the E-Savage looks more at home here.
  5. My Hyper VSe Roller and new radio kit has arrived. This should keep me busy for a bit getting it ready to run. 😁
  6. I have place the order for the VS. Looking forward to it arriving. This COVID-19 lockdown is getting expensive. 😂
  7. Yeah, I had seen wheelspin had stock of it so will order tomorrow. I can then spend time going over it to make sure everything is buttoned up tight, and transfer over the electronics ready for a run at the weekend.
  8. The more I read, the more I think the Hyper VS is the way to go. I pretty much have all the necessary electronics to get it up and running quickly and frees up some cash to replace my old Hyperion LiPo charger and maybe invest in some more LiPo Packs. It is a damn shame that the Hyper VS went out of stock this morning on modelsport otherwise i would have already placed the order as they have it for a good price.
  9. I've been looking at the Hyper VS roller kit and it looks rather good. I have been looking on ebay and there are not many rollers on there right now. On the plus side I also have a stock of 1/8 buggy wheels that I can burn through. 😉
  10. I have a decent (if old) servo in my EB4 I could appropriate and already have two pairs of 2s lipo packs. I was already planning on getting a new radio for my E-Firestorm as my old spektrum tx is held together with tape so will get a spare rx for it. I hadn't thought about the hyper VS. I had originally thought about the Hyper SSTe kit but after reading reviews from people on here, I decided to give it a miss. I guess at a later date I could do a buggy/truggy hybrid for bashing. I can feel an order being placed soon. Lol
  11. A couple of years back I started this thread about rebuilding my old E-Savage but life and mainly work got in the way of posting updates following the ESC upgrade. Now we are under the COVID-19 Lockdown, it has given me some time to spend on my RC's and i have come to the decision that, apart from a few cosmetic bits, it is not worth working on my E-Savage any more and the time has come to elevate it to true shelf queen status. that being said, i am at a crossroads on where to go next in my RC endeavours so figured I would ask you good people for your thoughts. Option one would be to look at a decent kit or rolling chassis to put the motor and ESC from my E-Savage into, it just seems to be that there are very slim pickings when it comes to this with the options being uber expensive or cheap but a bit rubbish due to poor quality, poor parts support or both. Option two would be to buy a Trail Crawler kit as that will give me something to build during lockdown, I can add the electronics as I go (I have servos I can use already). I bought an FTX Outback mini to keep me entertained and am liking some of the little challenges I have come up with in the communal garden area where I live. Option three is to buy and build a TT-02 kit up as a road/rally car. Again this would give me something to build and I possibly could drop in the old ESC and motor from my e-firestorm providing I can get it to work on Li-Po batteries. Option one appeals to my inner child as I can go fast, jump things and generally have a riot, while options two and thee appeal to my inner engineer. What do you think is the best route to take? budget wise, I probably have around £200-£250 for a Crawler kit and most of the TT-02 kits I have seen fall well within budget.
  12. Picked up a few more bits today from the post office. Mainly new EC5 connectors to swap out the Traxxas ones, a new servo and another 2s 5000mAh Lipo from Hobbyking. I'll try and post some more pics once i have soldered up the cables and battery packs.
  13. Originally it was 1/10th but mine has a stretched custom chassis making it closer to 1/8th wheelbase along with custom lower shock towers and hyper7 rear shocks all round. I have had the motor on for a while but the mamba max didn't like it much. I wish I had bought the Kershaw cvds at the time.
  14. Diffs should be good as they have been shimmed up. the half-shafts will give out first. The Alza CD kit looks nice - shame it is for the Savage flux and not the E-savage :-(
  15. ....and in with the new! The time has come to finally replace the battered old CC mamba Max ESC in my E-Savage with something a bit more current. I have opted for the ever popular Hobbywing Max8 ESC as this will go nicely with the Leopard Hobby 2000KV motor that currently powers the truck. The old and battered Mamba Max. how this still works is beyond me. The new HW Ezrun Max8 waiting to go in. Stripped and ready to receive: Almost as if it was made for it! Hopefully I will try to update this as the new bits arrive so I can get it out and bashing again.
