  1. Novak, Nosram, LRP, Speed Passion, all the usual culprits have you seen the eZrun brushless motors? all the thrills without the huge cost.
  2. I've known guys put 5.5 Novaks into their DF-03's & they run fine, so i can only conclude anything 5.5 or above will be fine.
  3. I've been asked by the chairman of my club, to post details about the new racing season that starts on the 16th May... so erm.. new season will start on 16th May at the Orchard circuit. There is a practice week this weekend. The season this year will be Japanese touring cars, so you can race with any 1:10th touring car, so long as it has a shell representing a Japanese car - which means 95% of all touring shells are elligible! more details - www.orchardrcmcc.co.cc or feel free to ask me any questions.
  4. but why buy a car that you have to hop-up to get the best out of it? There are other cars out there for the same sort of money that won't need hopping up, other than a change in motor.. which isn't really a hop-up, just a preference. The Ansmann's already have ball bearings fitted (no plastic bushes in there), come with oil filled shocks & an alloy drivetrain, so that's about
  5. if it's a toy one, then no. if it's a hobby grade one, then yes.
  6. the best 1:th buggies tend to be Nitro ones such as Losi 8eights, Hyper 7's & the like that have been converted, i'm pretty sure you can buy conversion kits to do it.
  7. Dear dear.. you've said the magic words!! You may as well go into Greggs to buy a PC... they won't sell you one, but the staff know a lot more about computers in there!!! leave the scan running. it may take a while or it may take a few minutes, all depending on what's on the drive & how many files it needs to check. If CCleaner won't work, try this alternative program.. you can use it free, but you will need to register after a few weeks, but it should sort you out.. www.innovative-sol.com/cleaner/ or you could try downloading CCleaner from here - http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/ or here - http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloading or here - http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/
  8. i know you aren't going to be taken with this, but the funniest comedy routine i saw was done by Keith Harris... as in the guy who does Orville the duck - but it's not the routine you watched on TV as a kid! it's worth it just to hear Cuddles & Orville telling him to warm his hand before he sticks it up their arse! Try searching for Smug Roberts. I've seen him live & he's very good. If you don't know who hw is, he's the guy who played Max's brother in Phoenix Nights & also did the song "Meat Pie Sausage Roll" Also search for Mike "Frank Butcher" Reid.. his stand up is legendary as is Jasper Carrott's, Jim Davidson & of course another of my fave comedians is Jethro... legends!
  9. leave it running.. have you run Ccleaner yet? that will probably delete the problem, if there is a nasty file sitting in your cache files yes, the program should be installed - check in the "all programs" list to double check & see if it's there.. if so, delete away
  10. may well be. personally if i break a driveshaft, i always replace the pair. plastic may break, but it may also warp if it gets hot or the car has been left near a heating pipe or radiator.. take it out & run it along a flat surface.. if it kicks up at the ends, one bent shaft!!
  11. defrag.. well you can go into your drive properties by right clicking the drive icon in "my computer" & then going into the tools tab & there is the option... however... if using XP (not vista) you can download a free program called "defraggler" (made by the same people who make ccleaner) Vista does it for you, usually.. but you will have to go into the drive properties window www.defraggler.com - if you need it! chkdsk is indeed a "Check Disk".. on older OS it was referred to as "scan disk". Easy way to do it is to go into the start bar, select "run" & type "chkdsk" into the box.. another window opens, click the boxes for it to scan the whole let & to fix any errors, then hit "apply" or OK... it "should" then say a scan can't be completed until restart... this is normal, when you restart the comp it will do it for you... it may take a while, but let it run. You can select "disk checking" from the same window if you go into drive properties to find the defrag tool, it runs the same chkdsk program. norton!!!! Schmorton!! I hate norton.. it's good, but perhaps too good, it gives to many false alarms such as "the old woman down the road has just farted, do you want to allow this Y/N", but when it gets a virus it becomes worse, if it detects a genuine virus that is! I'll stick to NOD32! Do a norton AFTER what i've suggested if the problem persists p.s. the programs i suggested are all FREE
  12. bent driveshaft? loose / damaged wishbone? slack bearing? damaged yoke? toe/camber not set correctly? could be anything really so what is needed is to eliminate all the simple or obvious possibilities
  13. sounds like you need a good old fashioned rid-out or you have something nasty in the registry trying to hijack the browser. download CCleaner to clean off the rubbish, & do a defrag, then run a CHKDSK if you want to make a good job of things www.ccleaner.com Also do a check for spyware/malware just in case something nasty has attacked the registry slowing down the websites because it's trying to get your password etc. so Download "Malware Bytes" & run a scan - www.malwarebytes.org
  14. actually it's probably more the other way around.. a lot of DJ equipment comes from China - mosts amps & speakers from a company called Windforce Ghanzou to you & me.. then the big names come along & stick their badge on the front & add 50% to the RRP.. take a look at their website, you will see products from Peavey, Behringer etc etc all without the maker badge - look at their products page & the product names often give it away "PV series" = Peavey & "B series" = Behringer http://www.biema.com/ In saying that i had a mate in the DJ game who would only buy Denon,..everything had to be denon.. he was a bit cheesed off though when he bought his Denon CD player & found out it was exactly the same as my American Audio system, but he insisted his was better & had better build quality - probably to justify to himself the high cost he paid... despite the fact i know for a fact they came from the same factory & the only difference is the box, the colour & the makers badge. A few years back i worked in a local DJ retailers shop & a guy came in one day saying he wanted a Warrior amp to go with the one he already had, we had none in stock at the time, but i know for a fact the Carlsbro was exactly the same - made in the same place etc just the badge & the box was different so i tried to persuade him to buy that, but this customer wouldn't have it & said he had heard one & it sounded rubbish! just shows you, some people are gullible!
  15. I was at a model show a couple of months back & a local RC truck club run their models.. i was amazed, i was expecting something like a car towing a trailer, but these things were so realisitic with lights, sounds (they even beep when reversing or have warning sounds) including remote hitching of trailers. If I had the money i'd love to buy my Dad one of these.... he's not a big fan of RC (although he takes an interest in what i do & shares his opinions on car set-ups because he has racing experience) but he is a truck driver & likes anything to do with Lorries.. i'd love to build him a replica of one of his own old trucks & give it to him as a retirement present in a couple of years, this is his current livery. If i had one for myself, i'd have to go for the COE Freightliner & do the obvious replica paintscheme (clue - look below)
  16. The Lunchbox is basically the same car as the Grasshopper / Hornet & comes from the same family.. just 1 basic chassis fitted with bigger wheels & a few simple changes to make the buggy chassis more into a monster truck - however it's a 2 wheels drive monster truck that handles like a blancmange! Unless you are interested in Monster trucks i can't see the point.. i always preferred the monster Beetle & the Midnight Pumpin anyway. If you wanted to go down that route when it comes to chassis, go for the Rising Fighter buggy instead - it's basically the modern day equivalent of the Grasshopper (bear in mind the Grasshopper is a 25 year old design & the Lunchbox was not far behind) with a lot of modern-day improvements or as someone as said take a look at the Ansmann range or even the Maverick truggy range if you wanted a monster truck type car.
  17. have a look in the manual.. if it has it's own part number then yes. However Tamiya parts tend to come in packs (unless buying hop-ups) or on sprues so you always get the 1 part you want, along with 10 - 15 bits you don't want... however it's a good idea to change the whole lot if one bit fails to prevent further failure.
  18. they should of stopped at T2, then waited until they made the TV series.... some things should be left alone. Bill Bixby & Lou Ferrino were the best actors to play the Hulk ... again some things are best left alone.
  19. 1st thing i think we need to determine is if the car is veering off due to a mis-set servo or trim, if a wheel is too tight OR if the problem is torque steering.. Try backing off the wheel-nuts a quarter of a turn & see if the wheels/diffs run freely.. if so, then try running the car, if the car goes straight, problem solved Torque steering is usually evident when whacking the throttle to full & the car twitches & heads off where the car is not pointing, usually this is down to motor power, so try changing gearing or of course check your diffs & bearings for wear or damage.
  20. so long as it's better than the 1st attempt... sorry second attempt, the 1st attempt (made in 1986) was far superior - i'm not going to hold my breath on TF2.. which is really TF3!
  21. yes, that's very true.. however as i say this is just another technique i've heard about. the water wouldn't soak up waves & produce steam, but when you open the door the steam would be emmitted.. plus IMHO putting water in the microwave helps the microwave.. it's a very bad thing to do to have an empty microwave running - or even a few solid items such as empty bowls etc - doimg that that would knacker the magnetron & although the tyres are in there, they register as solid, not organic like foodstuffs so would be like using an empty oven if just a few wheels were in there.
  22. I thought that was in Hot-shots, where Wash-out is put on radar duty & sneezes on the screen. adds a whole new meaning to "bogies at 12 o'clock" Galaxy quest i thought was the film where they were taking off Star-trek... of sorts.. basically a neighbouring planet recieved transmissions of the "Gallaxy quest" (which was obviously based on Star Trek) series, the aliens then replicated their ship & abducted the replica crew (replicas of James T Kirk & Spock) etc to defend their planet in an intergalactic war thinking they were heroes & didn't realise it was fiction & the characters were actors. wait a minute Or should that be BOGIES!!!
  23. forgot to mention Frome model Centre... just remembered them, they may be closer www.frome-model-centre.com
  24. I know i live a few hundred miles away, but i know of one place.. i've spoke with the owner a few times on the phone www.exetermodelcentre.com
