  1. What annoys me most is that when a bunch of students are standing around waving signs, the whole of the met and surrounding police forces charge them with horses and kettle them for hours in parliament sqquare the freezing cold. But when it all kicks off in slightly less well-off areas, they all run and hide, complaining about being understaffed. Maybe they shouldn't have spent all that money on PCSOs and CCTV
  2. I'll try it and see what happens Just remembered I've only got a 1280x1024 screen, which may have something (A lot) to do with it. The whole build cost
  3. Mentioning Beats raised an eyebrow, but saying skullcandy headphones were decent quality sent the credibility of this post out of the window For headphones I'm not going for anything other than studio quality ever again. I bought a cheap pair of Behringer headphones, and the quality was fantastic. Just imagine what a pair of £100 AKG's would be like! No point shelling out the same for a pair of crappy Beats headphones, with their bass heavy frequency response and rabid fanbase. EDIT: Also, keep the receipt for your headphones, and buy them from a high street shop (If there are any left where you are ). I did that with my £6 in-ear sony headphones (Which sound alright, not amazing but I don't care, they were £6 ), they broke three times, each time I got a new pair free from Argos. No point shelling out again because your headphones were crappy quality.
  4. I have a dual core Celeron with integrated Intel graphics, I couldn't play games if I wanted to My gaming PC dual boots Windows and Linux. Keep the Linux side for all the browsing and stuff, and Windows nice and clean for games. Saves reinstalling the Windows side every 12 months when it gets filled with registry crap.
  5. If I can run Crysis 2 in hardcore mode with a 768mb GTX460, WoW will be fine on a higher spec card
  6. On my one Windows box I run Avast. On the others I don't run Windows, so I don't care about viruses Avast is alright, but the vocal alerts are really freaky if you're at home alone and your computer starts speaking to you...
  7. Decided to convert my Revo to a truggy. Looks like I need to dumpster dive me some aluminium...

  8. My main laptop: My laptop which I found in a bin: Both Arch Linux, Gnome 3 shell on the first, Gnome 3 fallback on the second. Currently lolling at the massive memory usage displayed on everyone's desktop gadgets
  9. What's the chav in hospital for? Being brain dead is just a side effect of being a chav, there must be something else wrong?
  10. If you phone up the Cotswolds track and ask nicely they might let you drive there, but you won't be able to race.
  11. I've found that anything that's not mtroniks has all the punch you need. Mtroniks ESCs feel a little flat to me. Problem is, once you've shelled out for a decent brushed ESC you could have gone for a more powerful, more reliable, more tunable entry level brushless system
  12. An M03 and a chavmobile shell would be perfect Don't forget the blingy wheels, and the oversized exhaust pipe. As for performance, a black can is on the edge of mental for an M03. A 13.5t would be more than enough, especially if it has turbo mode
  13. The UK version of this would be riding down a cycle path and getting a puncture off a broken Smirnoff bottle, or getting clotheslined by some old granny's extendable dog lead. Those things are killer.

    Eewwwwww, bundled toolbars!
  15. Maybe my EZrun came with a white sticker, then? I chucked out the box and warranty card a few months after I got it. It's entirely possible that someone mixed up the warranty sheets at the factory, and China isn't known for it's... Thoroughness in manufacturing XD
  16. I drive a real sleeper - an ugly car going fast is too mainstream, mine looks slow and is slow. Must be the moss growing on the roof.
  17. The real ones have a shiny sticker on both the ESC and warranty card. I'd contact hobbywing direct, see what they say.
  18. If the card is getting hot, it's toast. Not even testdisk or photorec can help you there.
  19. Heat only rises in fluids (gases and liquids), because the hotter fluid is less dense.
  20. Guess there's no iplayer for you, then To speed up your browsing, Opera with Opera turbo enabled might help. It's not a pretty browser, and it's pretty hefty, but turbo is awesome.
  21. Reinstall! Run memtest86+, see what the memory's doing. If the memory is fine, install and run prime95 and speedfan, see what the temperatures are doing. Also, Linux driver support on old machines is second to none. My favourite for old PCs is Lubuntu. In goes the CD, half an hour later you have a working computer. Drivers? Pah, who needs them. Everything's automatic (and installing programs is easy, too. Just open the software centre and click 'install'). All the horror stories about compiling drivers from source are people installing on brand new computers.
  22. It's toast. If you want data recovery it;s probably possible, but it will cost. And by cost, I mean these services usually start at about
  23. This. Bear in mind that if you install something lightweight, 512mb is all you need. I have a laptop I found in a bin, a 1.7ghz Pentium 4 with 512mb of ddr memory, and it copes fine running Firefox 5 on Lubuntu. Anything other than Linux on something that old is pointless; you won't be playing games, and the performance creep of Windows (Remember how fast your PC was the day you reinstalled? ) means you've got to reinstall every 6 months.
  24. My friend's on virgin, and they can't play TF2 during the week (Peak times) because their ping is too high. They're really going OTT with the throttling IMHO. That's why we went with a 40gb capped connection; all the unlimited ones are capped at whatever the company sees fit that month.
