  1. yes but its a bodge. I just superglued the drive shaft in there and its holding.
  2. Ha sounds about right, so far I have superglued the front upper suspension arm (both ends), front hub carrier and rear diff block . I also replaced the striped spur/ pinion and fited a hobbywing 1080 esc so i could run 3s batteries (esc set to 50%).
  3. It's the end of the plastic axel casing that holds the pivot for the hub to the axle, on the front.
  4. what replacement axles are recommended? Something else broke today so i think new axles would be best. Im guessing portals would not be as durable as standard type? I need to build it strong enough to survive a three year old.
  5. That's when everything being made of plastic is helpful. The ftx tracer doesn't mind beaches but the esc doesn't like actually going in the sea. We will see how it affects the ftx mauler. Some of the links have a bit of rust but no seized bearings yet . I always wash it off with the hose and then silicon spray it straight after and I wouldn't take anything to expensive to the beach.
  6. I'm also looking for a solution to this as the rear diff block stripped on the first day . All the ftx aluminium ones seam to be sold out.
  7. I'll check that one out. Under £200 would be nice. Do you need a fail safe on electric cars?
  8. I've been using Dumbo radio gear but it's stuck on full throttle more than once now so I want something better for my 1/8 buggy. Whats good quality with good reliable signal and not too dear?
  9. I bought a surpass hobby 150A ESC and motor. My ESC was putting out full battery voltage to the receiver and subsequently popped the receiver.
  10. Both our tracers have now striped the drive pinions. Surprisingly the one converted to brushless lasted slightly longer.
  11. Thanks Nitroholic. I will do something with the diffs and look at making another chassis. I doubt I will do much off-road with this buggy as I have a truggy I would like to build up for that. Also it's only car parks that are illuminated at this time of the year for the evening sessions. I would like to stick with the buggy as that's what my mates have, we have all ordered the the same tarmack tyres now our current tyres are shredded.
  12. I've been doing a bit of carpark racing with my mates. I've lowered the car and set the droop screws to try and keep the front down a bit when excelerating . That has improved it a fair bit but next problem is I'm wearing off the inside edge of the front tyres in no time. How do I adjust the camber of the wheel when it's turning? When straight ahead the front wheels are fairly close to 90° from the ground, when turned they are only sitting on the inside edge of the tyre. The car is a hyper vse.
  13. Im tempted to get metal bits but to be honest the only things to break so far are a servo, battery, diff drive pinions and a rear wing. Ive lost a couple of drive shafts because the top arm was falling off but a washer fixed that. I have also lost a pin from a rear drive shaft so i took one from a spare front cvd and super glued it in place. Ive converted one to brushless so it now wheelies just about but oddley it was the brushed one that the pinions failed. Has anyone fitted a stronger servo as the standard 3 wire one is a bit weak ?
