    Hi Everyone, I currently have 3x 8S nano-tech Li-Po's which have two balance leads, I think it's like two 4S packs with a balance connector for each ? I have 2x IMAX B6 Li-Po balance chargers that are only capable up to 6S. My questions are: 1) Can I charge the 8S lipo using these chargers through the balance connectors? 2) If so how to connect and what settings to use? can I use two chargers, one for each balance connector, and do this simultaneously? 3) Should I opt for this method over swapping out the two balance connectors for a single 8S balance connector and buying an 8S charger? What would be the advantages and would it be worth the cost? 4) If I was to buy an 8S capable charger, do you have any recommendations for something at a sensible price ? Many Thanks

    Excellent, thanks for the recommendation 😉 Out of interest and for future use, etc, can you advise on the best way to determine WHY to use a specific tooth count? I.e if I have the following information: Lipo: 6S 22.2V Motor: 4076 1700KV Surpass Rocket (5mm shaft) ESC: 150A Quicrun Front & Rear Diff's: 45T Ring / 10T Pinion Centre Spur gear: 48T Wheel + Tyre Diameter: 5.75" how do I get from this to saying "17th sounds like a good starting point"? Is there any charts or calculators that you (or I can) rely on to find this information out ? Do I need to understand drive ratio's and rollout etc or can I just use a calculator to find out what I need to know? Cheers,

    Hi All, Apologies for delay in updating this thread. I have now fitted GRC motor mount, and Losi 8E battery tray (I had to mount the tray to a piece of alloy then mounted the alloy to the chassis plate). I have received my Rocket 1700KV 4076 motor today, and also now got the Quicrun 150A ESC - you were right about needing to change the bullets on the ESC as they are smaller than the ones supplied with the motor. Hopefully the ESC wires are of suitable CSA for the current draw. I ordered 4x 3S 5200mah lipo's with the intention of running 2x in series for 6S but failed to check the dimensions before ordering - as you can see, no chance of fitting them in! so back to the drawing board for the batteries - will probably need 6S pack for it to fit in the tray. I think it's a mod 1 pinion gear I need but can anyone advise on what tooth count I should select? Does 15T sound about right for a 1700KV motor on 6S ? The centre diff is 48T. The front and rear diff's are 45T with 10T pinion. Is a pinion a pinion or is there any specific quality/brands I should opt for ? Many Thanks, Paul

    Hi Guys, So I think I've decided on this ESC: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32962485505.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.468e3c006zU63T&mp=1 Would it make sense to get the double XT90 plug and then link one of them out if not in use to give more flexibility on battery config ? Will I be able to reverse with this ESC? Will I be able to program it or will I need a programming accessory ?     My apologies, I was meant to say EU warehouse ! Yeh, definately decided against that. I was going to go 6S but it's not proving easy to find 22.2V 5000+mah at sensible prices atm except on HK EU warehouse. Last time I bought from HK I think I remeber getting stung for import duty. Looking at the uk gov website, it says that import duty is charged on goods worth more than £135, so was thinking I might have to make a purchase for one and then make another purchase later to avoid the charges.     If you needed to buy new 6S 5000+ 40C+ lipo's now, where would you buy them from? it seems that a lot of these are out of stock unless you look at overseas warehouses etc ? Does anyone know if I will get charged UK tax and import duty if I order from hobbyking UK warehouse at the moment ? I'm looking to spend max of around £75 per battery incl. delivery/taxes. From what I hear, it sounds like a lot of them are coming from the same factories anyway, so I'm not too bothered about opting for a cheaper option as it's mostly going to be for bashing anyway.     I have total max budget of £275 for 2x 6S lipo's ESC Motor Any suggestions or recommendations on what to get are welcome ! If I'm honest though, it would of been nice to be able to try and avoid buying any more lipo's as to recap, I have the following : 2x Nano-tech 4S 2200 35C 2x Nano-tech 4S 2650 25C 4x Nano-tech 4S 3300 25C 3x Nano-tech 8S 4400 65C Could I run 8S ? Either single or in a dual configuration ? I assume that if I'm using dual battery then that doesn't mean I'm doubling my capacity (mah)? It just means that I doubling my cell count but capacity is still the same ? Or should I just bite the bullet and invest in 6S ? Cheers P

    Excellent, thanks for the part number, have ordered one from the states. 24th Sept - 14th Oct. Time for me to order and wait for some cheap Chinese gear also 🙂 Sounds like hobbywing is a popular choice, but there are so many! I've never ordered anything from the likes of AliExpress, Gearbest, Banggood etc so I reckon now is the time to have a punt and see how it goes.     You are right, I bought the 1500KV motor discussed earlier in the thread and this 120A ESC for use with a ducted fan Jet which I built. I'm going to : Nothing fully decided on yet, but I'm thinking along the lines of 6S 5000mah+ with probably 1600-1800KV motor. Which ones have you tried ? Guess 2 or 3 x 6S 5000+ will set me back a fair whack so cheapo ones might have to be considered 👍

    Thanks for the links - I didn't find GRC in my search and have now placed an order for the machined 1/8th mount (40-42mm). I'll probably make do with the current steering servo arrangement (flat) and cut down the existing carbon top plate to enable mounting of receiver on top etc. That then leaves me with needing battery tray and ESC mount. Battery tray should be reasonably easy to find, or I might get my mate to 3D print one for me. It turns out that my ESC is not 150A - it's 120A....this one : https://hobbyking.com/en_us/yep-120a-hv-4-14s-brushless-speed-controller-opto.html?___store=en_us A fair bit bigger than the usual square type e.g Mamba etc so I guess may leave me looking for something with higher current rating and smaller footprint.
