  1. Felt guilty for not posting any pics yet so here is one (hopefully!) of my sons Sendero HD from the last time we went out (before I got my TR). I'm justifying this picture due to it being and Element truck!!
  2. I'd had literally just watched this video before I logged on here to see what was happening in this thread! I'd love to have a spot like that nearby! Cheers Rich
  3. So I've not had a chance to do anything with mine until today so the front bumper is fitted, and the battery tray changed to the larger one. I had a quick measure of the rear bumper on my scx10ii blazer and it looks like it will fit quite nicely on the TR with a hefty trim of the back of the shell (AX31537 is the Axial part number). My 9yr old son has an inset day from school tomorrow so we are taking the TR and his Sendero HD out to the woods to see how the TR goes. After that I'll have the start of an idea what to do with it. Didn't bother with pics of today because it is just the same old stuff we've all seen before, but I'll try and get some tomorrow. It'll be fairly muddy so I'm thinking the inner fenders will actually end up being my first upgrade! Cheers, Rich
  4. Mine was delivered yesterday but I've not opened it yet due to work etc. Think ill go straight for the front bumper for starters then just get out to the woods and see what's what. My 9yr old son has the Sendero HD so itll be interesting to see them side by side...... Im really impressed by his Sendero HD and was going to just get one of those until I saw the price of the TR. It was a no brainer! I like the idea of the Knightrunner rear bumper and i think the bum drag of the Trailrunner is what's going to annoy me first - so I reckon that will be my first 'paid for' mod. After that, and in no particular order, id like to try a Quicrun Fusion and maybe some Proline TSL's or go to 1.9's....... I'm excited to try this TR (and I don't get excited often! Cheers, Rich
  5. Wow.....just realised its nearly 9 years since I last posted on here!! Anyway, I ordered my Trailrunner last night when I saw the price on Modelsport! Was going to pull the trigger on the Sendero HD (so much better than my old SCX10ii) to match my 9year old sons but at the price this was at it seemed worth a punt as I quite like the IFS and smaller wheels / tyres. Spent alot of time on the Tube watching vids and it seems OK so im quite excited to see how it goes. If the worst comes to the worst, I'll convert it to solid front axle. I suspect there will be a few more 'Runners showing up in the near future so hopefully this thread will be a good source of info and pics👍
  6. Just a small toolbox (which contains all I need to build the car), a few common size nuts, bolts, screws in a pot which lives in the tool box, cable ties, insulation tape, a few charged packs. That's it. If I am on foot or away from the car, I take some long nose pliers, box spanner, double ended screwdriver, in my pocket along with the spare packs and maybe a wheel nut. Rich
  7. Very good. Love that shell too. Hopefully get up to Black rocks myself at the weekend / next week. Great vid Rich
  8. That lead could have been made for the job! Probably the best mod you can do. Rich
  9. +1 for Colin! TBH though he is prob sick of looking at round things so may prefer chocolate eclairs. rcbearings rocks! I will not go anywhere else. If anyone knows him, please point him in the direction of this thread! Rich
  10. Ok just seen that I can get a complete scx10 chassis from cml for
  11. i had seen that Radshape chassis and saved it to my favorites.....then completely forgotten about it LOL!! Good call mentioning that, Jack. Guess what I am now saving up for!! I take it my Scout stuff will bolt on? I would imagine that the chassis has been made with axial at the forefront of the designers mind? Cheers, Rich
  12. Thought I would bring this thread back from the dead! I want to spend some time on the Scout after a long period of neglect until recently. I am pleased that there seem to be so many Scouts about now! I am going to start by trying to fit my lexan Tamiya Brat shell onto this chassis. Ultimately I want to turn this truck into more of a scaler type thing (think Axial SCX 10) but that is a way off unless I try to make my own chassis rails and braces etc. Anyway, thanks to all the new Scout owners and threads that have inspired me to get back on it!! Cheers, Rich
  13. Thats very good! Been thinking about doing this myself. Did you buy the axial chassis and braces etc or make your own? Some build pics would be great! Cheers, Rich
  14. Here is mine at Black Rocks. Admittedly it was dry but the stock tyres were fine. And here it is after a mud run through the woods As I said, I love it and for the cash I don't see how you can beat it. Rich
  15. Oops.....posted in wrong thread!
  16. As did I. I used a little blow torch attachment for my gas soldering iron as I was able to control the heat and where it was directed. Works every time!!! As for setting the mesh, I just make sure there is a small amount of play between the teeth. Rotate the spur 90deg and check it again incase anything is out of concentricness. Then another 90deg and so on........ Rich
  17. I have one and think its great. Only broke some rod ends when it fell off the shed. Not had any issues with tyres - still running standard rubber. Great fun at black rocks and also mudding along local woodland trails. I love it to bits as do my kids. Not seen the need to spend double on axial etc although i do like the scx 10. May make my own version using the scout running gear. Actually, the stock receiver bost but fitted a flysky one and use my gt3b. Only mods have been free except cranked axle links but they were cheap. Lead for wheels was free, lowering was free.dropping the shell was free. Happy days! Rich
  18. Always nice to receive service so good that makes you want to shout it out! There should be a sticky thread where we can sing the praises of great stores, traders etc! Infact, While I am thinking about it, I have had great service from Modelsport RCBearings.com Time Tunnel. I have dealt with plenty of places but these 3 never cease to please Rich
  19. I haven't done the 5th shock mod on either of mine yet but I guess a dremel will work for the gearbox mod. Use the metal U shape brackets supplied in the kit for the top of the shocks. Dunno if there are enough to do the 5th shock aswell though. Think that the shocks you have mentioned will be fine. Lets have some pics as you progress. Rich
  20. I used lead roof flashing cut into strips the same width as the recess in the centre of the wheel, wrapped several layers thick then bound with tape. Rich
  21. My 13 yr old son has just bought the team c lupuz kit to build for himself (his first kit). It is the same as the mad monkey but withouy all the electrics. The mad monkey is a great deal and being so well priced leaves some cash in tje pot for spares or upgrades. I dont think you can go wrong with it tbh! Modelsport are great to deal with. If you go rtr there os nothing to stop him stripping it down and rebuilding to get an understanding. Rich
  22. Thanks guys for the response! It wont be running anything hot. It will be used for bashing on the Skate park etc so speed isn't really necessary. Will be running initially with a brushed 21t motor. Probably etronix probe wp speedo. I have read that those wheels linked above are pretty brittle? Ordered some anyway to try. At just over
  23. Hi Just ordering one of these buggies from MS and a bearing set from rcbearings. Mostly it will be used on road / carparks so I have a few quick questions........... Are the tyres in the self assembly kit preglued to the rims? Can anyone recommend a pair of road tyres for the rear that will fit the kit rims? What size are the rims? 2.2? Cheers Rich
