  1. @Fat Freddy @Glenn75 @Nickarla @tomr Thanks all of you guys for your tips & guidance on this subject. It's definitely good to know the weak points on the carnage so that im more prepared for a situation where these parts do get broken. But the thing is I don't want to be replacing all the internals before I even use the car for the first time. So I think maybe it's best if I just order a couple of spare pinions & a couple of spare spur gears, and just change them out as & when I need to. Im not going to be bashing the car hard, I want to take good care of it. And if running a 3s battery is going to cause a lot of transmission issues then maybe ill just stick to a 2s and altar the gear ratio at a later date if I feel like I want more top speed (i'm happy with the acceleration as from videos i've seen it seems pretty quick in stock form). Tom, I have also looked at both of the cars you mentioned. The rival is a bit over budget, and the Maverick was a strong contender until I found the Ftx. To me the quantum doesn't look quite as good, a bit more toy-like and I thought that the build quality looked quite a bit better on the carnage. Now this is just an uneducated opinion but thats how my decision making process went. I've got my heart set on the carnage now. EDIT: Another reason for choosing the carnage was that it comes included with a lipo, a charger, and also a safety bag for the said battery. That was a big selling point imho. Thanks again all of you for your helpful replies. You're all obviously very knowledgeable about this RC model and I imagine I will become the same if I spend enough time in this thread πŸ˜„ heheh. Cheers 🍻 James
  2. Ah yes, so they are. In that case I think i'll trust the stock pinion until Modelsport have a restock of the steel ones. I'll mostly just be running the car on 2s for the first few days while I get used to it anyway. I've got a 17t &15t ready in the basket now so will order both once i'm able to. Thanks alot for your help tom you're a starπŸ‘
  3. Awesome, cheers bud πŸ‘ I've found those same ones on the Modelsport site so i'll order from there. I'll be sure to keep an eye on engine temps & as the pinions are fairly cheap i'll buy a couple now so that i've got them ready if i do need to change them out. So now, 2 more quick questions πŸ˜† 1. Should i buy a replacement steel pinion with the same amount of teeth as the standard one if i plan to run to run the car on 3s regularly? 2. How many teeth does the standard pinion have?
  4. Coincidentally, Kevin's just uploaded a video with the exact same engine I guess they're gonna be very popular. They'll gain alot of publicity from this video alone
  5. Cheers tom πŸ‘ Would you be able to give me a link to a pinion that you'd recommend? Also another thing I was wondering about, which sort of ties in with the transmission, i'm planning to run it on a 3s lipo along with the 2s that's provided with the car. I've got one on the way, a Zop Power 4500mah 45c, what do you guys reckon about running that battery in the carnage, do you think the esc will be fine with it? & how do the gears hold up to 3s power?
  6. Yeah no worries, you're welcome. Oh awesome, he'll be thrilled i'm sureπŸ‘
  7. Man that looks so awesome. A really nicely engineered bit of kit. Can't wait to see it once it's mounted in the rat rod!
  8. 144001 is always a safe bet πŸ‘ https://www.banggood.com/Wltoys-144001-1-or-14-2_4G-4WD-High-Speed-Racing-RC-Car-Vehicle-Models-60km-or-h-Two-Battery-p-1588753.html?rmmds=search&ID=6157207&cur_warehouse=CN
  9. Ah ok, a little bit more involved than I thought but sounds simple enough. Thanks for the guidance bud. Once I get the car ill attempt to get that done straight away, before I take it out on its first drive. If I have any issues ill be sure to return to this thread to request your help πŸ˜‹ To be honest though ill be back here anyway to post some unboxing pics when it arrives πŸ˜„
  10. Cheers Jack πŸ‘ Yeah i've being doing my research for a while, Figuring out what my best option for a brushless truggy around Β£200 was going to be, and the carnage came out on top. Yes i've also read about this mod that people do. There's just a couple of small holes that i need to stick some tape over right?
  11. Geddon me bewty! Welcome to the forum mate πŸ‘
  12. 'Soon to be the proud owner of a brushless Carnage 😁
  13. Hello mate, welcome to the forum πŸ‘ If it's going to be your first ever hobby grade RC i'd suggest going for a brushed electric car. Something between 1/16th and 1/10th scale is probably your best bet, and you can pick something fairly decent for between Β£60 & Β£120 so you won't have to be forking out too much either. I personally bought a WL toys 144001 a couple of months back when I returned to the hobby after a long break. It's a 1/14th scale buggy with a 550 brushed motor. Plenty of power, decent handling and actually takes a bit of a beating. Plus parts are cheap if you do break anything. Cost me just under Β£70 and came with two 2s lipo batteries. I have an 8th scale nitro monster truck from back in the day but i'm yet to get that running. And this kind of answers your other question, a big disadvantage with nitros is that they are much more of a pain in the ass to get running, and you need to carry alot more gear with you if you plan to take it anywhere. So yeah, your best bet is going to be any 1/16th - 1/10th scale electric car with a brushed motor, of which there are many to choose from.
  14. That colour actually really suits it πŸ‘ I would love one of these.... maybe one day....
  15. For me personally mate I use Overlander & Zop Power, never had any issues with either
  16. Well here it is Nick, The Ultra-Uber-Super-Duper 2020 Covid Recession Busting Bargain Thread (it's a bit of a mouthful, I know). I'll start things off with this, Kings Lynn currently have some of the best prices i've seen for 2s & 3s lipo batteries 7.4v: https://www.kingslynnmodelshop.co.uk/index.php?cPath=66_75_140&osCsid=th88qeb0f4duku07ddv58i0e43 11.1v: https://www.kingslynnmodelshop.co.uk/index.php?cPath=66_75_141&osCsid=th88qeb0f4duku07ddv58i0e43
  17. Awesome mate, looks neat πŸ‘ I look forward to seeing some speed run videos πŸ˜‰
  18. Hi there mate. That RC does actually come with a battery included, though it's a only a 1000mah lithium ion, so maybe you're aware of that and you're looking for a suitable lipo instead? Looking at that model I would probably go with a 2s and no more cells than that because the ESC it comes with probably isn't capable of handling a 3s. Just look for any decent 2s lipo that has the correct connector (looks like a deans/T plug to me) and make sure that it'll fit in the battery tray. I'm guessing around 2200mah-2800mah will be your limit.
  19. What are the different options on the charger?
  20. Hey Kye, welcome to the forum mate πŸ‘ Hyper 7s are fantastic buggies, you'll have lots of fun with that
  21. Well it's a truggy so its probably pretty good on offroad racing tracks πŸ‘
  22. What a beauty! Surely one of the coolest looking RC's i've seenπŸ‘ That engine... 🀩
  23. That looks sick mate! I love the oldschool nitros
  24. Hey Winston, welcome to the forum mate πŸ‘ If you post some pictures of your damaged RC then somebody here with the 'know how' may be able to look at it and help you diagnose the problem
  25. Price? Pictures? May be very interested in this
