  1. Yeah. Stinchy me. But will they hold?
  2. So much about alloy hubs & knuckles. Went for a bash and the steering knuckle bent. Plastic brakes, alloy bents... What solution is out there????
  3. The inner diameter of the pipe lagging should be equal the outer diameter minus 2 times the thickness. Not sure how I could explain it better. When you go across the whole diameter of the pipe laggine you have 3 "sections". foam, air, foam = thickness + inner diameter + thickness.
  4. A note on flipping the car at high speed. I set a rather extreme camber that helps a lot:
  5. You catch me on that. I don't remember. I think it is 76mm, 19mm. But don't nail me on that. If you got time, order the wheels first and then measure. Important is that outer diameter - (2 x thickness) matches precisely to your rims diameter. In addition, I closed the water hole in the rims, preventing any water from coming in.
  6. The glue is something like very liquid super glue. You can search ebay for 'RC tire glue'. I don't believe the different brands make any difference. Ordered the one from CoreRC since it was the cheapest and had the fastest delivery. Watch some Youtube videos before gluing the tires!
  7. I trained my son almost every weekend the last 6 months, starting slow with the FTX Mauler, going to FTX Bugsta Brushless, letting him try my Rustler with 2S Lipos, then with 3S and ending up at the current setup. Thinking (as being German) that in Germany he would not even be permitted to drive any of those cars. That said, I think there is no such thing as a bad driver. Just not enough experience. How long do you have your Carnage? These are the wheels: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4PCS-Wheels-Tires-Set-1-10-Rc-Monster-Truck-For-Losi-Tenacity-Mt-12mm-Hex/154220196248?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 And I cut inserts from these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Armaflex-Pipe-Insulation-Lagging-Black-Nitrile-Foam-Class-O-2m/273509911546?epid=22030367669&hash=item3fae760bfa:g:Z-MAAOSwLXNbxLm5 The Armaflex pipe lagging has a major advantage. It's made of closed cell foam and therefore will never be soaked with water. And they are a bit harder than regular inserts. ( Looks like I am repeatedly posting that information ) For me, it's the ultimate wheels setup for bashing, jumping and speed runs.
  8. Hi and welcome to the forum, the Hobbywing Combo is a really good choice. Making the Carnage much more fun to drive around. Personally I wouldn't go for the 5400KV motor. It limits you to use only 2S Lipos. --> Hobbywing recommendation. 3300KV as @Ant.p uses or 4000KV as I use would be the best choice. Then you can use 2S or 3S Lipos. I am very happy with my 4000KV choice but then 3300KV is closer to the setup of the factory FTX Carnage Brushless. My factory Bugsta Brushless comes with a 2950KV motor (same as Carnage). Comparing the performance with my upgraded 4000KV Carnage, I would prefer the 4000KV setup. Bugsta: 2950KV, 12/47 pinion/spur, less performance, less battery life. Carnage: 4000KV, 10/47 pinion/spur, more performance (2S), longer battery life. Carnage with 3S then: madness and lots of fun. I did a number of additional upgrades: - Pinion/spur made of hardened steel - Wheelie bar - Wheels with 5" outer diameter and 70mm width The new wider wheels effectively prevent flips, though not completely. Here is a video of my 8yr old son mastering that Carnage beast. But I can tell you it is major stress to the whole drivetrain. After that weekend of filming I had the front bumper broken, all 4 CVDs bent and the body posts broken.
  9. It's indeed very confusing. Firstly the pinion must match the shaft size. Then there are different pitch sizes for the gears. Some metric, some imperial. Some uncommon, some common. I found that most choice is with 32DP. Only once that is settled, the teeth can be chosen to get a good gear down ratio.
  10. Are you sure about 3.25mm? All mine (Carnage/Bugsta) are with 3.17mm. But then it could be that FTX fitted different versions.
  11. Hi Iain, there is one match that works and I am using: Spur 32DP, 47T : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FTX-Carnage-Vantage-Hooligan-Bugsta-Banzai-32DP-Hard-Steel-Spur-Gear/264098795518?hash=item3d7d83cffe:g:dagAAOSwfplcO6pG Pinion 32DP, 10T, 3.17mm shaft: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Corally-32-Dp-Pinion-Short-Hardened-Steel-10-Teeth-Shaft-Dia-3-17mm/353153894972?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 ( Assuming that your motor has a 3.17mm shaft ) That might gear down your Carnage to reduce the cogging. And being made of hardened steel there will be no more rounded spurs. The spur rather eats the stones. No more worries afterwards. I am still using my first pair, which I bought last year in August.
  12. Got a similar setup. Just have a 4000KV motor and 10T pinion. Insane power, maybe not speed but acceleration. Today I tried to exchange my Rustler with my son's insane Carnage. Got 5 minutes, then he wanted his car back.
  13. I did by accident a "speed runner" out of the damaged Carnage you sold me a while ago, which I didn't like and corrected it. But might be useful information for you. 60A ESC 4000KV motor 17T 32DP pinion 47T 32DP spur large 5" wheels (outer diameter) 3S Lipo with 50C discharge Details below in my Signature. I found that with 32DP there is a bit more choice in regards to pinion teeth. 17/47 reflects the standard Vantage/Hooligan/etc setup. The 5" wheels help for speed as well. And you could increase the pinion teeth for some more speed.
  14. You are right. My statement was based on the pictures and I was wrong. After checking the car only the 2 alignment pins are covered.
  15. Welcome! Thingiverse and other 3D databases are a good resource for solutions of known problems. What I dislike a bit is that the plate covers 2 screws which hold the Diff. Removing the front diff will be now a bit more work. But I think the design of the plate can be changed. If not, a knife will do the job..
  16. I have a Hobbywing Max10 (60A) with a 4000KV motor running with 3S Lipos. 1/10th Carnage ( your old one that was broken ). So I would say you could go to 4000KV. That's still within the recommended specs by Hobbywing. ( Just an example ) I believe the max KV depends on the ESC manufacturers recommendation. Others might be different than Hobbywing. Gearing is another story of course and should suit your general setup..
  17. It's printed hanging on the fridge! I never force him to do anything. It is all optional. He knows that I work really hard every day and I am willing to give everything and the best to him. I only expect that I receive something in return. Just like in real life: work <--> salary. And my wife agrees and knows the prices (I think...). Me too: Last Carnage got now its socks on the shocks. Time for
  18. Welcome to the forum and the Carnage Owners Thread! ( Don't forget to say hello to all in the newbie section ) Another one caught in the endless loop of bash, brake, order, repair, back to start. ( But at least the parts are dirt cheap and you don't shed much tears ) Here you find 263 pages of good advice. Enjoy reading....
  19. I kind of expected that answer. You wrote what most probably think (myself included)... My son is the same. He takes time to think if the upgrade is worth the effort.
  20. For my son: Do this for for 1 week and you will receive a faster servo (or other useful upgrades) Do it for 6 months and you will receive a Traxxas Rustler VXL 4x4 Do it for 1 year and have grades above national average and you will receive a Traxxas X-Maxx or Arrma Kraton. Achieving that is a sign of maturity. With maturity comes responsibility. With responsibility comes the ability to handle a car like a Traxxas X-Maxx.
  21. To give you some hints: Come to the dinner table at the first call Empty your plate Eat veggies & salad Clean up your dirty laundry and toys without reminder Wash and put pyjama without reminder Brush your teeth at 7:30 without reminder Be in bed and lights off at 8:00 without reminder Wake up at 7:00 yourself Prepare coffee for your parents/wife Make your own breakfast Get dressed & brush teeth without reminder Sit down and be ready for hair brushing (if you have long hair like my son) Be at the door and ready to go to school (work) at 8:40 Are you up for that?
  22. Kiddo complained last week that the steering of his Carnage is too slow. Told him to showcase an exemplary attitude this week. And he just earned himself a 30kg steering servo with 0.09s/60° speed at 6V. Nice and fast.
  23. Yellow was the color of choice for showing it at the website. For 3D printing you can choose almost any color. Provided it is available. How about pink? Could match with some wheels of yours. You would need to find someone that can 3D print for you. Thingiverse only presents the models.
  24. Found 2 more things at Thingiverse for those with damaged front bumpers: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4685494 - Front Bumper https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4684863 - Front Bumper Bracket
  25. Hi TRX, just browsed the Thingiverse for fun. That might right be what you and many more need: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4743829 Front bumper repair plate. Just need a 3D printer.
