  1. It shouldn't get that hot .. check your esc doesn't keep switching to crawl mode with the drag break .. if it does u will have instant reverse rather then double tapping the trigger .. my esc was causing lots of issues so it was swapped out for a hobbywing brushed before I went brushless
  2. I picked up a little patriot a few weeks ago and landscaped my garden accordingly. . https://youtu.be/PpfSqlx3ShQ
  3. Hey scania dave Welcome to the world of outlaws it's a great fun buggy .. I started with brushed and I'm now using an absima brushless set up .. stripped at least 10 spurs .. and snapped 5 plastic drive shafts .. I'm using a steel shaft now ..
  4. UPDATE !! BAJA IS RUNNING AND TUNED THE BEST I CAN GET IT ! I got a repair kit and fitted the new gaskets and diaphragm. . I also got a new isolator block ..new block to barrel gasket .. new carb to block gasket .. new primer bulb .. new fuel mix It didn't start .. after a lot more looking and fidling I found the metering lever wasn't lifting the jet .. a slight adjustment and it poped with choke ..then choke off it fired first pull and ticked over .. still boggy .. 2 more metering lever adjustments and a while messing with H and L and it's now running sweet .. H is at 1.1/4 L is at 1.1./8 I will take it to field tmorro and report back .. but for now I'm happy and it pulls from low rpm to high without bog Plug is a good colour too so I know it's running pretty nice Thank you all for the help and advice Regards Jeff
  5. Vr5 .. I'm in Kent near gravesend I have checked the hole on the intake port ..all clear .. the bolts that go thru the car into the isolator block bolt into captive not that at part of the isolator block .. I have stripped the carb again The fabric diaphragm is worn and not very tought .. I remember from my 2stroke kart in days that the Tiliston cars used to suffer with an old diaphragm .. now I'm getting no fuel into the bowl and I can hear an air leak .. the car is blowing fuel thru the return line but it isnt sucking from the lower feed line .. I'm thinking the gaskets are shot .. carb is a ruixing. . I am gonna bite the bullet and order a walbro
  6. Thanks for the quick responses I have tried running with air filter off Same .. I have tried starting it with the screw closed ..and tried thru every 16th turn opening it .. when it does tick over which is only if I remove the carb and clear the fuel .. if I try and adjust the L needle it will just bog and die without any throttle input .. I am using 25-1 mix .. carlube 2t mineral I have also tried the old trick of a dab of fuel down the plug hole ..but just won't fire .. I have tried without using throttle .. using throttle .. it won't pop on the choke ? I'm baffled
  7. Hi all I recently aquire a baja .. it's a clone .. I have had it running for a day which I spent trying to tune the L&H needles. I left it overnight and now it won't start I have good spark .. I have 3 plugs one is brand new I have fuel in the carb bowl and plug is wet I flooded it several times and de.flooded it by removing the carb and starting .. it starts and burns the fuel off I re.fit the carb. Fuel still in bowl .. She fire's strait away and idles nicely As soon as u try to throttle up it dies and won't re.start until the de.flooding procedure is done again .. I have removed the carb and completely stripped cleaned and blown out all jets and feeds Re.fit ..same thing fires and idles for one attempt and won't start again after I have changed all the fuel lines .. checked tank cap breather .. I have started with 1.1/4 on low and 1.1/2 on high and have adjusted hundreds of times to slight adjustments .. Compression is good Can anybody help or suggest anything Kind regards Jeff
  8. After a complete headache of every 5 mins something breaking and the wheels constantly coming off and rounding off the hex drive's . I have modified a set of 17mm stub axles and fitted with neo 3 wheels Just had 30mins play with no issue ..and 'no roll' she skids now rather then rolling Would upload pics ..but this forum has silly restrictions on file size
  9. Front half of the shafts failed this morning ..got it fixed and found an awesome new location Can someone help me .. when jumping I'm balancing outlaw with throttle/brake ..but every time I land it's cartwheeling .. (heavier shock oil)??
  10. I have attempted to secure the barrel pins .. I have used a slightly longer pin .. Dremmel a flat spot in centre of pin Filled the void inside with g.glue ..activated .. I have really torqued the grub in the grub pin down locktite (perminent) .. and then backed onto the grub with a second grub with perminent locktite. . The protruding tips of the pin will be bured to try and hold it in place .. I will report back tmorrow .. if this fails ..I'm going to get the traxxas shafts
  11. Thanks for the advice guys .. I removed all the grubs and lock tite everything .. took it back out (2s) 10mins the exact same issue ..it threw the barrel .. managed to find all the bits again .. I'm considering trying again and using heat shrink over the wobble joins ..to hold it together and catch parts if the grub let's go??? I was hoping to have a go on 3s ..but I'm sure it will just come apart quicker .. The shafts cups are fairly loose around the diff drives ..perhaps if I sleeve them it might remove the slack and not vibrate the grubs loose?
  12. I had a quick search on the grass with a magnet for my missing shaft barrel ... found all the parts .... this time I will use lock tight ..
  13. I fitted my metal shafts ... should have thread locked .. Shafts came apart strait away .. I have lost the barrel on the front path .. will search in daylight
