  1. Firstly, apologies, this probably isn’t the right place for this but while I’m here.... Have to admit I have been toying with the gold membership anyway. More as a way of donating to this resource that’s been so helpful to me over the last few weeks than anything else but any associated perks would be good 👍 BUT..... Re “You've reached you direct upload limit... “ , I don’t think so.... I had a fish around in the menus and found “my attachments”. It said that I’d used 69% of my allowed upload data. Discovered that if I go back into old posts and delete the pics I get the allowance back. Deleted a couple of pics and it now says I’m at 60%. So so surely I have 40% left and should be able to post quite a lot more pics? However, when I’ve tried to upload pics recently I have repeatedly been told that I can only upload x amount of data, even though the pic I’m posting is significant smaller. A few times, I’ve tried again a couple of hours later and it’s worked. Other times I just get an error message and then it says upload failed. Over and over again. So am I missing something here, or is my a/c glitching out in some way?
  2. @daveyboi73 Thanks fella, that’s awesome. Getting some flack about how much time/money I’m spending on this “cheap little car” but this is a mod I definitely plan to do. Its getting a bit like triggers broom, soon there won’t be much of the original car left. Am thinking that soon I’ll be able to reassemble all the original parts and sell it on flea bay as a “used Vantage” to pay for more hop ups 😂
  3. @mydoddy69 ok, I just spent a few minutes googling and I can’t find these. Where’d you get em from and £?? 😁 And out of curiosity, why’d you get 2?
  4. Nice. Funnily enough I was looking at mine yesterday and wondering if I could replace the e clip by using an old bearing as a spacer, just held in place with the top plate. Not sure if it’d work and those look far more elegant. Just had a little spending spree on new shell and wheels, but maybe next time I can find some “spare” cash......?
  5. I thought you sold your vantage/vandal? They servo savers?
  6. Yes, I’d “Post” a pic (see what I did there? 😂) but the forum won’t let me! If you check out the pic I posted in the carnage/vantage thread of my “custom paint” you can see I left them in place. If I remove the rear wing posts I can fit the skyline body straight back on. Also, I thought they’d act as protection for my carbon shock mounts. They are a lot cheaper to replace 😁
  7. Oh yeah, I forgot. I went to post pics of the results but the forum wouldn’t let me. Meant to try again later but didn’t get round to it. I used hot water to soften it slightly and managed to ease out all but the worst creases. Looked ok til I butchered it to make it fit. Even looked pretty good in action (from a distance at 20+mph 😂) but it acted like a grit and stone collector. All the debris thrown up by the wheels bounced off the underside into the electrickery and spur etc. Have gone back to an original shell, it’s more protective, but as mentioned above, bought a clear one and painted it. Just made it more “mine” if you know what I mean. I would post a pic of the butchered skyline shell but the forum won’t let me! Keeps telling me there’s an error! V frustrating. (for some reason it says I’m limited to a .91 mb file, the pic as wanted to post is .526mb but I just get “upload failed” grrr)
  8. The carnage body posts fit straight on. Also, you might have to do a bit of googling but Tamiya used to do body post extenders. A short sleeve over the top of your existing body post with a longer body post on top that you cut to size. Hope that helps?
  9. Of course. Rather you than me, I can barely cope with left and right, but up and down as well?! Looks good btw.
  10. Thanks I would have posted more pics but the forum won’t let me. Every time I post a pic my “max file size” gets lowered. It’s now saying It’s 0.91mb max. Any ideas why @Fly In My Soup?
  11. I painted my very first custom shell...... mistakes were made and it’s far from perfect, but personally I think it’s an improvement on the stock blue shell.
  12. Did my very first ever custom paint job. Never liked the blue of the stock shell for the FTX Vantage, fancied something red. Stupid really, could have got a pre-painted stock shell in red for a tenner. Pretty much the same price as the clear one. By the time you add in the cost of lexan scissors, hole reamer, masking tape, and 3 cans of paint yr getting closer to £30. Anyways, mistakes were made. Overall I’m happy with it but it’s far from perfect. Not that it matters once it’s covered in mud and scratches I suppose.
  13. Agreed, take your time and try not to use too much force going in, or you'll find it really tight getting it out again. I find some lubricant and a tool with a hardened tip can help with a difficult screw. Hmmm? Sorry, what?
  14. Don't misunderstand, I love snap on, great tools and with a lifetime guarantee, the last tools you'll ever have to buy. And if I could afford them I would. BUT in particular with an ftx vantage, with almost no metal to metal fasteners, how on earth would you round off even the cheapest hex key?
  15. Sorry, I meant a long 2.5mm one. It makes it much easier to set the pinion mesh. These and a pair of pliers are enough to do pretty much everything.👍
  16. Agreed, upgrade as you break. The only reason I mentioned the suspension arm holders is you have to remove the diff housing to fit them, and as you are removing it anyway...... I got a fastrax hex (Allen) key set with four different sizes from 1-3mm stored in the handle for £12. Does most of what I need but found a longer 2mm one handy
  17. +1 on that. + while you got the diff housing off, replace the plastic suspension arm holders for the Alu versions.
  18. Anyways, after emailing them pics, they’ve agreed to give me a refund. I’m going to set about it with some hot water later and see if I can salvage it at all. It was only ever meant for bashing anyway.
  19. Hardly a surprise. They sent it in a plastic bag. No box, no padding, no “Do not crush” labels.
  20. Ordered this a few weeks ago, for the princely sum of £9.50 (inc shipping from China!). I wasn’t expecting much and knew I’d have to hack it pretty mercilessly to make it fit but thought it might be a laugh trying. A sort of exploratory dip into alternative body shells for the vantage without too much investment. I wasn’t expecting this.....lol.
