  1. @pieman5 it looks fantastic. Currently when I run my car it's in an empty car park which isn't ideal as there is lots of debris (sticks & stones), curbs, bumps and undulations to watch out for.
  2. So the runway entrance where you run is just on the left then before the campsite? Looks beautiful on Google maps, ...the runway that is. ?
  3. Thanks for the link. Working now. I definitely want to come up and I'm slowly convincing the Mrs that going up to North Wales will be a birthday treat for her as well. Do you have a post code for the Sat Nav please? My names Gareth btw. Might go up on the Friday evening or Saturday morning and see what it's all about weather dependent. Will make a firmer decision closer to the event.
  4. Thanks for the links to RW Racing/pinion gear but the other link with the rules & regulations didn't work, ...can you try that one again please? It sounds good but I'm really just starting out at speed runs so £120 is a lot of money for me especially as I may only be up for one day like the Saturday or maybe two at a push. If I came say for one day though to see what it's all about, how it's run and to try out my Typhon (providing I met the rules) could I do that? You know and pay a smaller cost to do it? Currently only got one Lipo battery as it was pretty expensive considering so easing into the spending. Ha ha. I'm definitely really interested in coming though. ?
  5. Also on a side note: You wouldn't happen to know where I can get "Mod 1" (5mm bore) pinion gears would you? Looking for 30T and above like 32T etc but finding it difficult to source on eBay Uk. Lots are available in the USA but then the costs are pretty high with postage. Thanks again for any info.
  6. Hello, This is sounding really interesting to me as I'm into speed runs with my Arrma Typhon 6S. Albeit a complete newbie at speed runs. Can you expand a little more please on what the days involve, time tables, fees, classes, how to enter etc as I don't have a Facebook account. I live in South Wales so although it would be a 3.5hr drive I'm not totally adverse to that to see what this event is like, ...although I may have to sweet talk my Mrs as it's her Birthday then so dragging her to an R/c event might not go down well. Ha ha. ?
  7. Thank you that makes sense, ...3A it is then. ? Thank you also @Tug for your help/info. I don't mind waiting whilst it charges.
  8. So @Tug what would you set the charge current at going on from the charger and battery I have as posted in the first post? 3A as @Jumper suggested originally to be kinder to my charger (increasing longevity of the charger) or are you saying 5A is fine but don't do it for every charge? Thank you. ?
  9. Sorry but is that aimed at me, RWJ or both of us? Just curios because of the "stressing the charger with a battery of that size" comment as I didn't think my battery was particularly big, in terms of mAh anyway. If it is safe to do so and is the norm for charging Lipo batteries then I will set my charger "charge current" at 5.0A in future then as no point going lower if it is un-necessary. Thanks for any info/tips. ?
  10. Thank you for the tip about balance charging. I'm doing speed runs with my Typhon so it's not something I'm "bashing" or running all the time so want to ensure my battery is well looked after. Thanks again.
  11. Sounds good @Jumper . Any other tips for keeping my battery in tip top shape? I'm thinking after I use it tomorrow as I won't be running the car till the following weekend (weather permitting) that I'll use the charger to put the battery into "storage mode" and then next time I plan on using the battery charge it up using balance setting again. Sound like a good plan?
  12. Thanks for the response @Jumper ? Okay then so next time I charge I can select 3.1A safely which I take it should reduce the charge time significantly?. Is that a safe level or should I select slightly lower, like say 2.5A or 3A?
  13. Would appreciate a little advice regarding this please. I'm using an "Overlander RC6-VSR" 80 Watt 7A output AC/DC Lipo Balance charger to charge my "Turnigy Nano-Tech Plus 5000mAh 6S 70C" lipo battery. I charged my battery for the first time last night using my charger again for the first time ~ I decided to use the "balance charge" setting but wasn't sure on a safe "charge current" to select for my Lipo battery so selected "1.0A" (the lowest). After 200 minutes odd of charging the charger shut down as it reached a preset "charge time limit" which I had neglected to change. The battery AFAIK was almost at full capacity though as the last time I looked it was showing 4000mAh odd so will use it as is and recharge after use. Please does anyone know and could tell me what sort of "charge current" is safe to select for balance charging my Lipo? ...And also what sort of "charge current" is safe for "fast charging" I'm not bothered if it takes two to three hours to fully charge from "empty" but don't want to drag it out at the lowest charge current setting if it is safe to go a little higher. Just worried about damaging an expensive battery. Thank you.
  14. In that case then have a look on eBay for decent used examples of truggies: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=truggy&_dcat=182183&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=3000&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 All makes pop up on there for sale so it's worth checking regularly if you don't see something straight away. Good luck with your search. ?
  15. Welcome aboard. I don't know anything about the Hong Nor but I just recommended this to another member so may as well do the same for you; have a look at the Arrma Typhon 6S 1/8scale buggy. Link: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=425509&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlriWnIj73wIVJijTCh1LTgzUEAYYAiABEgL8_PD_BwE Or the 3S if your budget is smaller: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/arrma-rc-electric-models/rc-car-manufacturers/1274/9900/990010&ChassisID=1875 ?
  16. Welcome aboard. ? I've had a lot of R/c vehicles (mainly Tamiya 1/10th) over the years but I'm so in love with my latest R/c it is unreal. I bought an Arrma Typhon 6S. For your budget I'd recommend you have a look at the Arrma Typhon 6S 1/8th scale buggy as well. It's a brushless powered 1/8th scale buggy that uses 6S power Lipo for speeds in excess of 60mph with the supplied 16T pinion gear. There's loads of options for modding it should you wish or you could just use it as stock and have a blast with it as is. For the budget you have you can just about get everything you need but you may have to outlay another £50 or so depending on batteries etc. RTR kit is £399 at Modelsport but as I said you'll need a battery/batteries as well plus charger: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=425509&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlriWnIj73wIVJijTCh1LTgzUEAYYAiABEgL8_PD_BwE Regarding the controller it does come with one of those annoying pistol grip/trigger finger type ones but you could always swap it out for a more classic design of stick controller should you wish at a later date and sell on the other to re-coup some of the cost. I also prefer the older stick type controller so if I don't get fully use to my new one I will be swapping that at some point. Have a look at Arrma's dedicated site for more info on their R/c's (I'm on there to same username & it is so useful): https://www.arrmaforum.com/
  17. Best delivery I've had for a while, ...Arrma Typhon 6S buggy. ?
  18. Cheers I did eventually figure that out with some digging. Ha ha. Just the charger to sort now and the XT-90 charge lead. Think I may just ring MS tomorrow and get that charger I linked earlier, ...at least it's sorted then.
  19. Battery ordered now so just the charger and XT-90 connector lead to sort out. Any comment anyone about the Overlander charger I linked above? Thanks.
  20. Don't want to keep de-railing r1ckyj's thread and I feel you could add something to my thread in the "High Speed Rc" sub section so pop in please if you can. ? Re: The Talion. I've done a lot of research so did look at it as well as other models from Traxxas, HPI etc. Considering what I wanted I felt/feel the Typhon fits the bill nicely and just as importantly I love the way it looks.
  21. Thanks. Well the cars on its way so I'm going to be sorting the battery, charger, Lipo bag etc this coming week. What does everyone think of this battery as providing it fits I think it's what I'm going to go for: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-5000mah-6s-70c-lipo-pack-w-xt-90-hr-tech.html?___store=en_us It has the correct XT-90 connector and decent Mah/C rating. Does the balance plug make any difference or is that just for plugging into the charger I buy and they'll all be catered for? Also can anyone chime in please with any comments on chargers for 6S Lipo batteries. Current one I'm thinking of is this Overlander RC6-VSR: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=408440 Any help or comments appreciated. Thanks
  22. Cool and thanks for the pic. As I'm going to be trying for high speed runs I want to use a Lipo battery with a high Mah and a high "C" rating. Don't want to waste money on a battery that won't fit so still exploring my options. Thank you again. Edit: thread here Stu if you'd like to add to it: Still trying to figure out what AC/DC charger to get as well.
  23. Thank you Stu, ...going to measure the Typhon tray when I get the chance and put it on my short list of possible batteries. ?
