  1. Which is......? Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  2. TBH I haven't really tried looking at it all too hard. Just being lazy, trying to get others to diagnose it instead of doing the work myself. I'll get the tools out and report back next week. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  3. Hey Stimpy. Yeah there is drive to all wheels but as soon as there's any resistance they stop. Weird that it worked OK before putting it away and now both diffs are doing the same. When I turn a wheel manually, the opposite wheel turns the same way for maybe an eighth of a turn then both wheels kinda clunk to a halt. Then the wheel I'm turning carries on turning but slipping rather than driving. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  4. My Maverick Scout had been sitting in the box for several weeks. I was considering selling it as it hasn't had much use because high speed bashing seems to be our "thing". Anyway, powered it up and off she went. Running fine. Then, tried to take an obstacle. Nothing. Hard up against it. Wheels not turning. Repeated on several things it always got over easily. Motor and gear turning fine. Driveshafts all attached and not loose (for once). If you press down on the vehicle the power is being fed into the diffs as the driveshafts are spinning but the wheels aren't turning. So it's the diffs? I've just serviced the diffs on 6S Kraton & Outcast plus rebuilt another E-Maxx diff (again). Do I really have to dig into these? What's gone wrong? Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  5. Can't really give you an answer. I saw a few around Europe on ebay for around £350-400 or best offer, so hard to know what they'd make. Depends how much you love the truck and want to keep it I guess. If you sink money and time into a brushless conversion you'll never recover it in monetary value but you can balance that against the enjoyment of doing the work and keeping the truck going in a modernised fashion. Personally I'd keep it as original or sell it as original and buy a different brushless truck. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  6. They've patented making jokes about them patenting monopoly. You can expect to be served a writ shortly........ Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  7. Yeah but it's with DHL so you WILL get a customs bill a few weeks after your parcel arrives and they WILL chase you up for the money. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  8. It's not that simple. It's a long, costly process to take out a patent. The trollers are usually lawyers themselves or big enough companies to buy their own lawyers. Plus they need to be based in a district where the courts are favourable to patent trolling. East Texas. Smaller RC companies that come up with a smart idea don't usually patent it due to the high cost and the limited market it'll be sold in. If competitors copy it then it just proves what a great idea it was. This was fine until Traxxas came along and started patenting things other people had invented then enforcing those patents. Their modus operandi would only have succeeded in one place. East Texas. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  9. Traxxas are based in McKinney, in the East of Texas. East Texas is the world epicentre of patent trolling. Patent trolling is basically looking at loads of things that people already make or do and then taking a patent out on them, suing said people for infringing your patent and then taking them to court (in East Texas) for a payout. Traxxas patents things other RC companies have already invented then sues them to stop using them and for compensation. People have patented the process of "Connecting to WiFi" and "putting your App on the Google Play Store" and successfully sued companies/individuals who are infringing their patents. In East Texas Court districts. It's cheaper for the defendant to settle than to fight it in court. I know, it sounds ridiculous but it happens. In East Texas. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  10. Had a few WLToys cars. They've been OK but waiting weeks for spares from HK is always the killer. They end up sat on the shelf instead of being out bashing. These are pretty small at 1/14th as well. Personally I'd look for a Traxxas Rustler 2WD XL5. At £200 new it may be out of your budget but it's been around for ever so there are loads of 2nd hand bargains. Easy to understand and fix, tons of spares and upgrades, fun to drive. It was my first proper RC car and I still love it. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  11. As far as I understand 6S Lipos are deemed hazardous items and have to be delivered as such so the delivery cost is significantly higher than, say, two 3S Lipos which apparently aren't hazardous. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  12. Got any Tekno ones? Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  13. Just charge them in a biscuit tin with a notch for the wires to go in and keep an eye on them whilst charging. Been charging Lipos for 10yrs and the only problems have been with previously damaged batteries (twice). Only get a Traxxas charger and batteries if you like wasting money and you want to resolder on different connectors unless you're running Traxxas cars. . HobbyKing will sell you much better value Lipos and Modelsport does the SKYRC T100 for £43 which will charge 2 batteries at once. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/skyrc-t100-battery-charger/rc-car-products/444856 Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  14. [emoji38] Always good to set the Tx up with the car on a stand and the wheels off. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  15. If you want something faster than your lurchers you're presumably gonna run it on grass? Then you'll want an off road buggy or truggy. 1/8th Scale in your price bracket would be a Hobao Hyper VS for £325 or it comes as a roller for £170. Then you gotta add batteries too. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/hobao-hyper-vs-1-8-rtr-brushless-buggy-red/rc-car-products/396615 Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  16. Yeah it's not cheap. It's not even a roller. It doesn't come with wheels or a bodyshell. I got mine as a roller for £250 with a new shell and a set of Badlands plus I already had electrics kicking around so it didn't break the bank. Buying the kit, ESC/motor combo, servo, shell, wheels, batteries and radio will set you back between £650 and £900 depending how you spec it. If you go 4S and use a £10 Jx servo, a DumboRC radio and a Hobbywing combo you'll be at the lower end. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  17. Yeah it is - except it's not. Although it's listed as 1/10th Scale it's basically the same size as an Outcast 6S. So it's really an 1/8th Scale. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  18. Got the MT410 and a V3 Kraton. Can't comment on the Hobao but the quality of the Tekno is way ahead of any other cars I've had. Just running it on 4S which keeps down the weight and costs. Performance is still awesome. The EXB looks tempting but if you get the Tekno you won't be disappointed. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  19. Ha ha! Yeah I've got two FS GT3-Cs and they're great. Have them set up for four different 8th Scale trucks and three 10th Scale trucks/buggies. Aerials are a bit flimsy and springs in the wheel can break but they're easy to fix and there's heaps of knowledge on the Web. The rechargeable battery on the GT3-C gives it the edge over the GT3-B IMO. I'm sure you'll manage either way but you'll miss them stix! Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  20. Rich? All that good info on stix we talked about and you've gone behind my back and two timed me for a wheel? I feel used......... [emoji38] Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  21. Welcome. I have 2 sons (5 and 7)and a Foster daughter(13). Got into the hobby because my daughter wanted an RC car three years ago. Now we have about 15 cars and all the kids are probably better drivers than me. They can all fix stuff too. Good luck....... Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  22. Hi Bix I'll take the Hobbywing motor at the asking price. PM on its way. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  23. MT410 shock caps? Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  24. Absima SR2S will do the job. £35-40 complete with receiver. Two channel stick. All you need. Works well I had the same issues with a 27MHz Traxxas controller. Inconsistent connection. Interference. Dropping out. Unintended reactions to my inputs. Culminated in me stopping my Traxxas Rustler near a lake. Once stopped, a few seconds later the car suddenly shot backwards and into the lake. Cue much cursing and some soggy trousers. Switched to 2.4GHz and all good. Sent from my MIX2 using Tapatalk
  25. Basically it's £20 to send a big, expensive car fully insured. RM48 or Interparcel/Parcel Monkey. Try and avoid Hermes/Yodel type carriers if you want your item to arrive undamaged or at all. If using a reseller then DPD/UPS /FedEx options are generally better. You can send something like a 1/10 buggy roller for about a fiver minimum but there's usually only about £15-20 cover so not a good idea if it's worth hundreds. When you ship through a reseller you get THEIR T&Cs not the courier firm's. Good luck trying to claim from Parcel2Go. They're a bunch of crooks. The reseller's terms are stricter than the courier's so they'll do anything to avoid paying out. If I was shipping a £400 Arrma I'd probably just use RM48 for £20 odd.
