  1. I keep meaning to look into a different ESC to combat this annoying behaviour, if I come up with anything cheap & effective I’ll post it
  2. I already had my Micro T from years ago, along with spare pinions...
  3. I bought one a week ago. I agree with you regarding throttle control, you seem to pull the trigger almost fully & nothing happens, then suddenly it takes off (wheelies, flips over etc) Mine came with a suspect battery so I’m running the Turnigy Graphene 600mAh 1S lipos (although you’ll have to change connectors/make an adaptor wire) but much improved runtime & no noticeable drop in power being 1s over 4.8v nimh. I then done what I saw on YouTube & fitted a 10t Losi Micro T pinion to replace the stock 12t, unfortunately despite ‘keying’ the motor shaft & a spot of glue the pinion would just spin so I’m back to the 12t for now. Within a few runs the servo gave up too (I haven’t had much luck so far lol) so I’ve fitted a Turnigy MG90S DS/MG 1.8kg/0.10sec servo, this has made a big difference as the stock servo was very slow & weak anyway. I feel this truck has potential but certainly isn’t good box stock imo.
  4. Doesn’t look like any colour from HK are available in the UK, sure I looked yesterday too...
  5. I don’t quite believe my luck with these things ! The only one I have has just packed up, fresh charge & about 30secs use it doesn’t go forwards any more, only backwards & steering ! Tried re-binding, checking for fluff build up etc but no, the 3rd out of 3 has already given up on me. These are the worst rc’s I’ve ever had lol. Guess I’ll be returning this one too...
  6. The seller (eBay) has offered to refund both cars inc. my return postage costs etc so both have now been returned. I received the new wishbone(s) for my own Q32 F1 & fitted it today so at least mine works lol. Certainly those on the links look very similar to me, could be worth a punt, though as far as my nephews Xmas present goes I’ve now bought him an Revell (Dromida) 1/18 SCT RTR so I’m sure he’ll have no complaints
  7. I bought two last week, one for me & one for a mate. The 1st one (mine) wasn’t packaged properly ie, the chassis was tied down but the front wheels weren’t sitting in the holes in the cardboard, this meant the front arms/wishbones were bent giving huge negative camber & toe in. I turned the chassis upside down, re-tied it & left it for 3 days. This didn’t work. I guess I could have returned it but I’ve bought the plastic parts set from eBay inc. new arms so hopefully it’ll be ok. My mate asked if I could unbox his (blue/yellow), sticker it up, charge it etc so it would be ready to use when I next see him. This doesn’t have the above issue but, this time the charge port has a bad connection, with either the radio lead or the USB charger I bought. Touch it & the light flickers on & off... damn ! I contacted the seller (on eBay) who requested I return it & they’ll replace it & reimburse the postage, fair enough. This was sent back today. Prior to unboxing the blue one I ordered a 3rd one from the same seller as a Xmas present for my nephew. So today I decided my mate could have this one instead & the replacement could be for my nephew. So, opened it up, wishbones ok but... same charging port problem !! Again, I tried both the radio charge lead & the USB charger. Having now seen a reviewer on YouTube with the same issue I’m starting to question HPI’s quality so will probably ask for refunds on both of them & just keep the one I’ve bought new wishbones for. This is disappointing as my one drives nicely & I feel we could’ve had a blast racing these around the living room ! Maybe I’m just super unlucky...
  8. Thanks. This is the combo: https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/247071/?gclid=Cj0KEQiAuonGBRCaotXoycysvIMBEiQAcxV0nKDXBipZJyXoh8elNDte8_8kDWR06OMt88E6aln7dPsaAmuq8P8HAQ The only thing not waterproof was the reciever, I already ruined my last one in my previous vid (lucky I only use HK £4 receivers!) I just popped the Rx in a black ballon (it has to be black lol) put one cable tie on to enclose it, then put some putty around the wires & pulled the balloon over the putty then used a 2nd cable tie to sandwich the putty. I cable tied it all to the chassis rather than use the Rx box it was housed in originally. The only other thing I did was to seal the 2 vents in each wheel with some small patches of Gorilla tape to stop water getting in & ruining the inserts etc.
  9. I've swapped the sensored motor for the Reaktor 3000kv 4 pole + ESC stolen from my SCT as I've been getting the Outlaw wetter than I thought I ever would. Managed to get a quick run in near home yesterday to prove it is actually waterproof lol . Here's a quick video:
  10. This is my 1st ever edited video (so go easy lol) taken at our village hall, enjoy !
  11. I have temp telemetry with my Absima CR4T radio & the sensor is cable tied to the motor can. I only ran the car for 5-6 runs only & it recorded only 34.8degC which seems a bit cool, until I touched the motor afterwards to find it luke warm. Outside temp was only 3-4degs.
  12. I bought this a while ago as a stock XL-5, replaced the electrics & fitted the 3800kv Castle SCT combo & only got round to running it the other day. These are the results, all are with 2s 5000mAh/25c Turnigy lipos: 16/90 = 29.5mph best Supplied 28/86 = 41.4mph best Then tried 31/76 (I bought separately) & got a best of 50.7mph I'm not really 'into' speed runs but I wanted to see how fast I could go on 2s without going silly on gearing, batteries etc.
  13. This is (hopefully) a pic from my last weekend of 10th buggy racing, I took the Outlaw along for it's frosty debut run... & this is when it overheated with the 23t pinion. And here it is wearing a set of SCT boots... I took off the spare as obviously it wasn't the same size. Given how well it handled around our dirt track I think it'll be pretty handy with these on, but I took 'em off cos I already have a SCT
  14. Out of interest, how are you guys posting pics on here ? I use other forums & have posted a lot of pics, all via Photobucket. Now Photobucket seems to have issues, so this evening I've tried using Flickr & imgur but for the life of me I can't get these to work (or don't know how!) It's giving my a headache
