  1. This looks great, truly great, but is it fitted backwards or am I seeing wrong??
  2. If I may step in.. search for HSP 94180 upgrade parts and you will find what you want! It is essentially the same car but with 4ws and most everything for it fits like a glove. I did too moved the lower links inboard and it was an easy task but cutting the skid made it even more flimsy. So I made my own skid plate using an aerospace plastic from NASA (or a dirt cheap cutting board, can't remember which one for sure) using simple tools but careful measurements and it turned out really good! Should you want to try it, make sure you get a good 2.5mm drill bit and the stock M3 screws will self-tap easily. The gearbox holes are countersunk so the screws are flush with the skid.. It is much much sturdier now and virtually indestructible! I only need to address it with a file to make the link cutouts look better!
  3. Τnx! I have a thing for free or dirt cheap mods....
  4. ... The tin can nose is courtesy of my 3.5 son and his scissor...
  5. I also wanted to have my scout somewhat lowered and did this: remove the springs and snip one coil (cut below the spring's end) the use needle pliers push the spring end back in to make it flat again. Assemble the spring back and glue the spring to the lower and top plastic stops. The spring can now glide freely on the shock body at full extension. That way the scout sits lower but does not lose its ability to articulate. I actualy cut two coils and use the preload collars to udjust ride hide to taste. thats how it sits with duratrax tires and with thinned stock tires and rims for reference
  6. That's why you should never leave 3.5 year old boys with scissors near lexan... "But but dad.. I just wanted to make it look like mine!" he said and a good part of the front was lying shredded on the carpet.! So let there be "rat rod" and this is the starting of the transformation with a metal nosed Scout!
  7. I also have a Maverick Sven and I think we all learn by our mistakes on the way.... I have noticed that you have removed the "annoying" axle bumpers. Here is a quick tip should you want to snip the screw posts off for even better clearance... you 'll get holes in the axle housing so be prepared to have something on hand to close them! I have used a scrap piece of stainless steel I've found on work and with a bit of trimming/light hammering I made this. Glued it on front side only though (as to be able to open the housing easily) and used tape on the back side.
  8. Α pleasant afternoon crawling at Filopappou Hill with the Scout, playing with some homemade obstacles, near Acropolis at Athens,Greece. We are slowly building an "out of sight" trial park combining natural and manmade courses.
  9. Yes, I can and I will try it! Thanks for the tip.
  10. I got a set of 2.2 Deep Woods CR as a gift from a friend. The compound is much softer than the scout's stock tires but, man, they are BIG! Being new to crawling I can only compare them to the stock tires but they should be much better on the rocks. Apart from a slight speed increase due to the larger diameter I also noticed that there is much more torque twist to the extent that, in some occasions, it "refused" to lower the front right or rear left wheel.... Are there any recommendations on how to address this problem? Here is a photo of them on the Scout:
  11. This is my first try of making a seesaw.. I just used scrap pallet wood (1.2m length) and some sticks from a lemon tree that I drilled, countersunk and bolted to the planks. The "hinge" is offset so it returns to its position after transition.

  13. Here is a photo from the Scout's first day on the rocks after the free mods I read about here (wheel weights etc)... and what a joy it was indeed!!!! Best regards from Greece!
  14. The scout arrived on Saturday morning. Many thanks to everybody for the much needed info on this crawler... So far I have taken it apart and lubed/greased everything as it was BONE dry throughout.... I am doing the fuel tube shock mod today since I also think it will be benefited from a lower center of gravity and I hope in the proceeding days will add some weight to the tires... Oh I took it outside today but forgot my phone so no pics but by all means I had such a great time!!!
  15. Hello everyone, I am Vagos from Greece and I am returning to RC after many many years... I had a kyosho inferno buggy but after bashing it on wall at full speed unfortunately let the sport go. I bought a toy rock crawler a few days for my son and we are having a great time playing with it (oh my poor wife...). I guess the "RC flu" never actually left me so I HAD to order something better so I have ordered a Maverick Scout crawler! I know there is a lot of catching up to do but I think I got it... Cheers!!!
