  1. Thanks. I did use search, so sorry to be a pain because I do know rule number 1 of forum use is "ALWAYS SEARCH!@!!@!!;". However due to being an extreme novice, when I search servos in this thread the main posts coming up are those merely mentioning the servo rather than actually suggesting upgrades and such. Any that are go right over my head due to inexperience. Hence the post, for my own clarity more than anything.
  2. This is why you should only order lipo's in the evening, to avoid any noon mistakes. ......... sorry ><
  3. Any recommendations for servo upgrades? I'm soon going to be going brushless on 2s and i'm looking for a decent servo that will not cost the earth but will do a better job than the stock one. Much obliged chaps.
  4. Zippy lipos are really good. I use a 4000mah 2s in my firestorm. Also just got t bone bumpers and they make a world of difference in terms of protection. As for chargers, since I'm still new to the rc hobby world, I got a fairly basic balance charger from robotbirds ... which for the money is actually really good. Balances well and has a storage function which always takes them to a good storage voltage level. Can be found here .. https://www.robotbirds.co.uk/default/ft680-ac-dc-80watt-charger.html .... but again, I guess this is quite an entry level balance charger.
  5. Well I can't comment on their performance as yet, but that's the one I have ordered myself. So happy to let you know when it arrives and I get it installed. I'm hoping it is okay, I've heard mixed reviews.
  6. Would you do both sets of buggy wheels for £15?
  7. I got some random branded soldering iron with accessories from Lidl for £7.99 I think It was. 80w iron, 2 spools of solder, spare flat tip, sponge and a spring style iron holder. Used it a fair few times now already changing my esc wiring to xt60 and changing a few batteries to the same. Works great. Needs to be turned up 3/4 - full but does the job just fine.

    SOLD

What would be your best price for the motor and esc posted buddy? Trying to limit my costs hence asking without the servo =) Cheers dude
  9. Shokka

    SOLD

is that £25 inc postage? if so i'll take the bumpers if the other dude doesn't take them. cheers.
  10. Shokka

    SOLD

i'd be second in line possibly for the bumpers. also what would you do the esc, motor and servo (inc metal horn) for?
  11. sorry to bump and old topic but it'd be good to hear if anyone in the chester - queensferry - mold are still actually does any bashing or knows anywhere decent OR any meets etc. I've just started myself with an e firestorm but keen to find better places to bash etc. thanks.

  13. Lipo are no more dangerous to keep then any other type of battery if you look after them properly. You can get relatively cheap balance chargers that do hard work for you and there are a ton of how to videos on youtube. Stock firestorm has the lipo cut off on the esc, it just needs programming. But anyway, that's the only help I can be with regards to your issues about lipo batteries. P.s. I only start about a month ago and I'm straight into lipo batteries.
  14. There is a wanted section here ... https://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/forum/8-wanted/ Good luck
  15. Forum ninja. Never give enough time for someone to respond to comments properly. lol My bad. But yea, it was only showered as since getting it i've spent most evenings watching videos on keeping it clean etc etc lol, so wouldn't submerge it. I've done it a few times now and having no issues. I always make sure everything is fully dried with a hairdryer afterwards. (wheels off, nuts etc) then wd40 and lube applied where required. wiped down and bosh. good as new (so far so good)
  16. see reply above your post also, i'm not really fully up to date on brushed motor maintenance, but it will be replaced soon with a brushless which will help with keeping water out.
  17. The electrics are "waterproof" however we all know that just means splash proof. This is the 3rd time i've washed it like this. I didn't submerge it in a bath, i just put it in the bath and whacked the shower on. Held on to the rpm bumper and sprayed away into all the knooks and crannies to get everything off. Once completely dirt free, I moved into the front room where i used the mrs' hairdryer to fully dry everything out. Then i went to town with WD40 and lube .... thats exactly how it sounds.
  18. So I went up to the hills near me for a little cross country. There were a few parts that could be used as jumps but it was mainly a cross country hike type deal. More like a crawler in some places. Lots of mud, pine needles, tree roots, rocks and other obstacles which made it great fun even without being able to get up full speed that often or do any big jumps. As a result, this happened ... Ready for a bath .. And afterwards, I almost did a little sex wee when you do a comparison from being dirty as *!&" to being fresh and clean ... Job done!!
  19. Yea I had a right miss match of all sorts of connectors, so I bought some amass xt60 connectors on eBay and swapped them all out.
  20. I have seen a video somewhere of a guy taking apart the full gearbox including diff to clean and replace grease but for the life of me I can't find it now. I'll keep looking and see.
  21. Great. Thanks very much mate. I think I'm looking forward to getting it all clean and fresh more than getting a new motor and esc lol
  22. In need of some advice as usual chaps. I spent a couple of hours last night taking apart a few bits and pieces and found that I could do with changing out the bearings. They were in a right filthy state. I feel like giving the thing some love. Any recommendations for a set to replace all the bearings for the wheels. Also would gt85 be fine for general all round lubricant and water displacement? Second, I then plan on stripping the gearbox, cleaning and replacing the grease. What grade do you guys use and for What? Again product recommendations welcome Once the full clean up is done I'll be looking to buy a brushless set up.
  23. It's a like you're encouraging me to be poor Yea 3s will be the goal. Gonna play with 2s for a bit. Then try brushless and see how that goes lol No doubt in a couple of weeks I'll be brushless on 3s as I have no patience lol. Can anyone recommend any good tyres for use on wet grass. These stock ones don't seems to get an awful lot of traction.
  24. So I thought I'd use this thread to post any upgrades / bashing / fixing I do to the car. To begin with it was box stock. My first step up was to purchase 3x 2s lipos 30c for some more power. Which worked well, except now I want more and to switch to brushless. But all that is yet to come. First I wanted to test out the balance charger I got from robot birds. £27 in the sale and it's done good so far. Tried it with an NiMH battery and on the lipo. Balance charging does take quite a while, but that's probably normal. I think for my 4000mah it took about 95 minutes (the end part seemed to go on forever). It has a discharge feature and storage. I had to make my own adaptor wires as none of the ones it came with matched (deans, crocodile clips and some other randoms). Busy as you can see.
