  1. Yep exactly that set up. Even down to the yellow connector not quite going in properly all the way lol. Then when I tried to disconnect it I stripped off the yellow casing on it. I'll have to put some new heat shrink on it.
  2. I do have a couple of files the right size for the mounting holes, I just don't want to go compromising the integrity of the mount too much. Some filing will probably be done then if I need. Cheers.
  3. Okay great I may try it. I am but it's now given me a taste for it lol. If it's too mental I may stick with the current setting. I just know due to the engine mounting I don't think I can fit a larger pinion on so changing the spur is the only other option really.
  4. Theyre pretty much what i've got just a different brand ..... and granted mine were a fair bit cheaper on sale too lol. Cheers. Now, I was pondering getting the 77T spur gear that is available as a speed upgrade for the flux. I'm just wondering if it is okay to use in the standard firestorm or are the gearbox's different because I know that it's listed as a part for the blitz. many thanks.
  5. I didn't know if there were smaller ones. I'm still a noob but I'll look into it. And I'm using turnigy long shaft hex drivers.
  6. So I've popped the 25 on and tried it out. It seems to work fine and is definitely a good bit faster now. I may try to step up a tooth or 2 as the esc was still cool, the motor was slightly warm but only slightly. I have issues though as usual lol. Firstly these grub screws are crap, I have managed to strip the one that's on now, so if I do step up it's gonna be a bitch to get off, any ideas? Secondly, where it is mounted now, is as flush as the pinion can be to the spur and there is no more room at the screw mounting points to move it back at all, which worries me when moving to a larger pinion as I don't think there will be room. Would I be okay using a round file (I have one the same width) to file out the mounting holes where the screws go to be able to move it back more? P.s. thanks for the pinion tip, glad it's got more speed now. Really want to find out how fast but I don't have an old phone to use, and I'm not strapping my s7 to it juuuust Incase lol
  7. That is pretty top notch. Never used them but may check them out in future.
  8. Just in this morning ... Let's get this brushless bad boy going properly!! Modelsports dispatch and delivery times are spot on to be fair!
  9. just ordered a 25, 26 and 27t pinion from modelsport (they had a 28 but wasn't in stock so took that as a sign to stick with these 3 lol) to have a play with. Hopefully this will give me some wiggle room to find the best setup.
  10. as far as I know as well, that is the stock set up yea. Thanks a lot for the help, I knew i'd need to gear up at some point just didn't know if I'd have needed it right away. Do you have any recommendations for pinion selections and spur replacement? or should i keep the spur stock and just go up with the pinion? Again, thanks for that mate. I'm still not very far along this huge learning curve.
  11. Its definitely worth turning off the LVC and trying it that way, just a little burst around for a few minutes see if the issue comes back.
  12. also have you tried turning off the LVC completely (if you can) for a quick test run? that way at least if it works fine with it off, you know thats likely the issue. If it still doesn;t work, you can continue to work through the other stuff.
  13. I ordered one from amazon yesterday as mine didn't come with it unfortunately. Once it arrives I can check what it's set to. You're probably right as it seems to punch out quickly then thats it. no more acceleration. Wheelies are cool though lol. I'll see when it arrives if there is an improvement.
  14. More advice needed if possible. I don't know if I was expecting too much but there isn't a great deal of difference in speed between 2s on brushed and 2s on brushless. Is this perhaps because I'm at the speed limit of my pinion. Or my 2s lipo? I think for bashing it's grand as it is. It seems set for acceleration. Should I invest in a few new pinions? If so do I need to go up a few teeth or down for more top speed? I'm currently on the stock Firestorm pinion for brushed. Thanks guys. Either way, I got some good wheelies on the go and it takes off nicely. Just quite anti climactic lol
  15. Well I took your advice and fitted the pinion shaft first, on the motor shaft there is plenty of length on the flat side to mount it that way and seems pretty flush. All brushless now. Just need to solder an xt60 onto the esc, but I have an adaptor so it is usable now. Fun fun. Cheap as chips so fingers crossed it works alright. I did test it and it runs, but that was when it wasn't installed. The fan is loud but seems to do a good job.
  16. Yea that'll probably help. Will pop some up shortly to try and clarify what I mean about the pinion.
  17. I may look in to a slightly better one then, as I'm on the ear piercingly loud one that makes my dogs go crazy when it goes off. I tried a little tester today after fitting, seems to work alright. However I definitely need the program card as the stock settings are on pants mode. I'll probably end up with both now, for that extra piece of mind thanks guys. As a side note, does it matter which way on the pinion is attached to the motor? As far as I can see it shouldn't but I thought I'd check. And I ask because where it is now is basically at the end of the motor shaft and is only verrrrrry very very minutely unaligned, by less than 1mm. Turning it around would allow it to not only be 100% perfectly aligned to the spur, but wouldn't worry me about being so close to the end of the shaft. Does that make any sense?
  18. I've got one of those, didn't realise that you could have them on while running too. I'm guessing itd be okay to just use some electrical tape to hold it on while I bash?
  19. So I'm pretty excited as I received my GoolRC 4300kv brushless motor and 60a ESC combo today, along with my 17mm hex adaptors to run 1/8th buggy tyres on my Firestorm. Anywho, after looking through the tiny sheet of instructions it looks as though I NEED a program card for the esc. I wasn't sure when I bought it, but it needs the lipo cut off programming in which is a pain as I would have ordered one at the time if I'd known. Is there another way to work in a warning or do I need to get me a program card? If so is this the bad boy I need? GoolRC Programming Card for RC Car ESC Brushless Electronic Speed Controller https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01DQUBFZY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DotVybXBEN9BQ Anyone had any previous experience with this? Thank you. P.s. did I mention I'm mega excited to go brushless.
  20. theres a nice guy called ostewart selling an HPI E-firestorm flux roller in the sales section. This is a great chance for you to just pop in your preferred electrics, save some money, and away you go. just a thought can be found here ...
  21. the LRP shell, do you think that could be made to fit an e-firestorm? cheers.
  22. We never get decent kinds of weather, it's always a pissy middle ground lol. awesome iced over lakes and 3 feet of snow? nope .... even colder water and slush. awesome video man!
  23. As mentioned yea it does indeed have deans.
  24. Yea i've had a look at that. The 2 options for servo (one for speed the other for torque). Unfortunately a few of the links in the post seem to just reload the page at the same post rather than skipping to the relevant members guide. So I will have to do some further trawling.
