  1. I guess the issue now would be parts support :/ It's such a shame that the only companies making them aren't quality brands from what I can work out. Apparently HPI did some mini nitro on road car? I can't seem to find anything about it online though, can anyone confirm this? EDIT: THIS! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TdwUOytnkw Brilliant!
  2. Yeah, I know they won't be super durable. They are most likely just garden use and car parks. I remember seeing an on road one a few years back and it just really struggled getting caught up on stuff. It will mostly be used on relatively flat ground. I just figure it's best to give it a fighting chance I found these ones too but they are brands I can't find anything about, nor find replacement parts for which kind of concerns me.
  3. Hello everyone, I am looking for a little small scale nitro, just to have a play around with really. I have found a 1/16 Nitro Truggy from Hobby King http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__56837__Turnigy_1_16_4wd_Nitro_T_Truggy_w_07_Engine_RTR_.html But I don't know what the quality of their kits are like. The only other small scale nitro I know of is the XRAY NT18T and NT18MT but I can't seem to find a UK stockist for them. I don't suppose anyone could either, give me some feedback on the hobby king kit (good or bad), point me in the direction of a UK XRAY dealer who has the NT18s or in the direction of another 1/16 or (preferably) 1/18 nitro. I am looking for an off road style but I wouldn't mind if it was on road, I just like the ability to deal with some uneven ground. Thank you.
  4. I would quite like a 1/16 Nitro. Just as a little toy for the back garden really. http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=73721 It looks quite fun. I am sure at one point in time XRAY did some buy alas, must have been years ago!
  5. It posted my topic twice!
  6. Weird, it posted two? It said an error when I tried to make the topic? Can someone delete this? I don't need two of the same topic! Sorry.
  7. My first RC was a Stampede http://www.modelsport.co.uk/traxxas-stampede-xl-5wp-2.4ghz-rtr-blue-/rc-car-products/389487 A great car, 2wd Monster truck, the platform has been around for years and years. It will roll over if you turn too quickly but that is part of learning to drive, most cars do. It is water proof and there is a lot of parts support including after market plastic parts like an extra wide bumper and nylon plastic arms that are really strong.
  8. Hey everyone, I purchased a job lot of random RC stuff along with my Slash. There are a lot of just random parts, what is the best way to get rid or them/sell them? Some parts are used, some are still new. It just seems a waste to have them sat there, especially if the cash could go towards new bits and bobs for my car.

  10. Ok. Thank you very much for the info What I think I may do is build it up to be a rolling chassis and then move it on so I can get myself a Truggy or similar. I should be fun to build it up though, I haven't worked on a car in years! EDIT: Maybe not actually, after doing to research I do quite like the look of the Maxx trucks. I just wonder if they are a bit...tippy. Do they handle ok? It seems to sit quite high.
  11. Oh wow, they are really cool. I have realised I may have gone a bit wrong purchasing the Slash, I should have gone for an 1/8th Truggy, sadly I didn't really know of the existence of that class! Oh well. Yours look awesome! Is there much modification required to turn one into a buggy? Also what is the truck body in the bottom picture on the left...the proline one? That cab forward design is awesome.
  12. Brilliant! Thank you for the information Right so: 1. Revo Slipper and Spur 2. Work out Gearing 3. Shafts 4. Chassis: a) Slash 4x4 LCG, b) Stampede 4x4 chassis with the shorter shaft. - Then fit ESC/Motor 5. Wheels: a) 17mm hex, 1/8 buggy rears all round for a nice wide stance, b) 12mm hex, MT wheel set. 6. Sort out suspension, new oil and springs Side goal: Get a stadium truck shell. I have seen one fitted on the Stampede 4x4 but the Slash 4x4 LCG is slightly larger, as I don't really believe it is 1/10. Oh and I need a new RX/TX, this one is uncomfortable and unbalanced. I am sure I can get that done by summer. I honestly would prefer to run the LCG chassis, just so it lowers it and so it drives better. I know I lose ground clearance but I would argue that the ground clearance is the lowest part of the truck anyway, so those bulkheads are the bottom for me. Plus I can then run larger wheels, without making it even worse. My main issue with that is a shell. I do love the truck look but I am not sure it is for me and, as mentioned, it does hold a lot of air and it seems to be great at catching dirt
  13. Ok, so taking that information. The grey chassis is missing a lot of stuff, it has 3 drive shafts, one of which is missing a half shaft, there are no middle drive shafts, obviously no gear box and the one on the blue chassis won't fit on, plus the E-Maxx on the traxxas website has a gearbox that looks nothing like it. There are no bearings at most corners. There are bunch of screws missing (a lot of which seem to be phillips head). The arms seem to be the RPM ones you guys mentioned but so do the shock towers/body posts. The shocks are quite frankly...shocking. There is no steering, There seems to be no servos (although servos on the other chassis but no idea if they are any good). There seem to be no chassis braces underneath. The diff casings are aluminium, as too are the bulkheads. The front bumper mounts won't screw in or out of the bulkheads. Obviously there are no electronics I am trying to find which model of E-Maxx this could be as there are several on their website. Any idea which?
  14. Hello everyone, I am new to the forums but not to RC. In the year 2000/2001 I stopped following RC as a hobby. I recently came back to it after deciding I just wanted a little toy to play with and maybe keep in the car, plus I figured it might be a way to meet people...anyway. I bought a a Slash 4x4 on eBay and it came with a box of 'stuff'. Inside I have found what I believe to me a Maxx truck. The problem is I can't actually work out which it is. There seems to be a large number of parts missing, it looks like maybe the person was building it. I am really at a loss as to what I have got on my hands and what on earth to do with it. I mean if I can get a running truck then bonus! The truck only seems to have 3 drive shafts. One of the chassis has a gear box, the other doesn't....there was even some little stadium style truck in the box! Any help would be greatly appreciated, maybe what I have and what are my options? Is it old? Can part's be gotten for this truck? Is it even worth building?
  15. Right, so after digging through the box today I found some stuff, in there are two, possibly 3 cars, one of which I believe to be an electric Maxx truck by traxxas (although it isn't complete, or at least I don't think it is, you are interested head over to my gallery) and I found this. It says it is a 1/8th Mamba Monster http://www.castlecreations.com/products/mamba_monster.html Would this go in the Slash? is it the right kind of thing for it? The motor seems massive! Edit: On another note I found a guy who turned a Stampede 4x4 into basically a 4x4 Rustler. Looking at it the chassis look the same. Can anyone attest for the differences between the two? I am thinking a 4x4 Stadium Truck is exactly what I want!
  16. Thank you very much. Do you find there is a massive difference in the width of a SC tyre like the Badlands and a 1/8th buggy wheel and tyre combo? My concern is the price and it limiting my shell options. I picked a Slash because I have been people running them with what look like almost scaler bodies through to buggy set ups. I mean I don't mind switching back and forth but I figure I want to find the most versatile set up that I can just grab at a moment notice. A large number of people seem to be running 1/8th scale set up as well so maybe that is something I need to look in to.
  17. Good thread, lots of useful info. Quick question, did you ever start running the centre diff?
  18. Hello! I am new to the forum but not to RC as a whole. I used to drive and race stadium trucks in the 2000's and then took some time away to study, find a job etc. I am now back and a lot has changed. Everyone seems to running brushless, lipo, nitro doesn't seem to be what it was and we have 1/5th scales! Gosh! I picked up a Slash 4x4 on eBay which is in a bit of a state as well as a large box of 'assorted Traxxas parts including 'most of a partially done T to E-Maxx conversation'...apparently. So anyway. I am here, looking to learn about all the things that have changed and hopefully come out with a fairly fun basher at the end of it. I have started a thread in the Short Course section to get me going so if you are interested in helping me out it would be great if you could pop over there.
  19. Haha, I never want to race. I haven't got the time. I just want something a little less...soft. Right now it just feels like I'm driving some under powered jelly. I do like it and that short course truck shell looks brilliant, I just am aware it could be better, I feel like there is potential. I just wondered if other owners could maybe point me in the right direction. Just advice on things like the power system, what upgrades are worth doing, what aren't. I don't mind spending a few hundred to get it into shape, I just don't want to spend in the wrong direction
  20. Hello! After taking some time away from the hobby I recently purchased a Slash 4x4. I used to race stadium trucks in the 2000's so I was looking for a similar platform but just for a bash around the park. It fit's the bill perfectly. I picked it up off eBay for quite a good deal and I have been driving it around the fields not too far from my house. My driving skills are no where near what they used to be but it doesn't half drive like a boat! I am really enjoying it but I just wondered what upgrades make a real difference? It came to me with a modified chassis that has had a small section cut out to fit bigger batteries which has compromised it's strength. It has a 5700kv Castle Creations set up in it, I believe it was only ever used as a light duty truck on flat ground. I am not really sure this setup is up to the job, I am looking for acceleration and power, it seems a tad slow off the line and struggles sometimes on rougher terrain. I am looking to run it on 2s or 3s, just because it came with some 3s batteries. It has tarmac wheels and tyres which are fairly terrible. I am just wondering what to upgrade first and where to spend the money to get a running truck that is reliable. I am currently destroying drive shafts, the suspension is awful and it tips over anytime I get near a corner. I am thinking some form of CVD rear shafts (maybe front), the LGC classic conversion, 17mm hexes with some buggy tyres (if they will fit on a short course body that is, I would like a stadium truck style body though, if just to keep the dirt out!) and maybe go from there. Oh and a new shell, gosh this shell has a lot of holes in it! The problem I am having is I don't know what is 'good' anymore in terms of effective upgrades, technology and brand quality and I honestly am not really sure where to start spending my money. Please just bare in mind I am new to the whole brushless and lithium polymer battery thing so I am still getting to grips with all that! Any help would be greatly appreciated and hello to you all! Edit: I guess in my mind I was thinking it would be more like a 1/10 4x4 stadium truck so I want to do my best to get it there, obviously spending as little money as possible!
