  1. The instructions are really good, mainly detailed pictures. Important bits are shown 1:1 scale so you can check you have the right screw or bolt. Hardest part is the gearbox but if you take your time and use a big freezer bag when fitting the tiny E clips it's not that hard. If you take the plunge there is plenty of help on here. Ive just ordered truck 4.
  2. Thanks. Just as proof your never done. And since this picture the Grand Hauler has a new load and motor, the Scania has had a good polish and the knight hauler has different time and tyres.
  3. This. The build is never finished, always little bits to do.
  4. RC jaz does some nice looking drive shafts but not sure of the manufacturer. I know a lot of the stuff on there is a clone of bigger manufacturers and from experience the quality is very good.
  5. Servo is in stock location, I have a couple of American style trucks with both servos at the front and it doesn't make a lot of difference but you do need the aluminium mount for that set up as the stock one soon splits. You can see both servos in this picture.
  6. No I didn't bother in the end. The lock isn't that bad once you get used to it. I did replace the front axle with a unit from RC Jazz which takes all the slip out and improves lock a fair bit. Looks better too, this is the same but fitted to my knight hauler.
  7. I've started to fix some of the images. Hopefully get a few more done tonight.
  8. I have loads of pictures but unfortunately the domain change stopped all the ones in my thread working. Any in particular you would like to see and I will dig them out and post them or try to fix them in the thread.
  9. That fitment looks shocking. No way I would be happy with that. I have seen some trucks with Bruder cranes fitted but I'm sure they are static and need some work to make them fit. Could be wrong though as I've never been hands on with one. I'm sure Rovermans had a crane fitted so maybe he can help.
  10. Everything apart from the kit on my Scania came from asiatees, rcmart or direct from China through eBay. Never a customs charge and normally delivered within 5 days of ordering.
  11. Your a bad man AJ, got my finger hovering over another truck purchase now.
  12. The first wheels look more appropriate in my opinion and looked based on the 1:1 style if your going working truck. Show truck it's all down to your preference. I really don't like the hub nut bulge on the second set, looks like an old Leyland hub from the 80's.
  13. Agree with the others on Bruder conversion. This is my effort, genuine Tamiya pin, bit of plasticard and some aluminium to grace the stretch. Less than £40 including paint. This is my Tamiya flat, took about as long to complete due to needing lots of prep and paint work to make it look the way I wanted. Personally I don't think they are worth the price.
  14. 4 or 6 screws to remove the plate with the electronics on, then 4 screws for the gearbox. Pop off servo linkage and fiddle out chassis rails. Just tried it on my Scania and it took about 10 minutes but I'm not running the mfu.
  15. Unless you have loads of space to run I would suggest going 80 turn motor. The three speed box is still plenty fast enough on big layouts but keeps it usable she space is tight.
  16. GT power ones are good once you get them set up but the chinglish instructions are useless. You spot on with the basic light function too AJ.
  17. Looking very good but we have come to expect nothing less from an AJ build I would be interested to see if you build goes the same way as my ones did with the hop up bill coming to double the kit price
  18. Well that fantastic. One shift left before our next family holiday and I've done my back again lifting a shackle from the wrecker.

  19. Thanks mate. I have 3 now and number 4 may happen. I'm lucky because the wife likes them too, it was her idea to put them on the lounge wall. Yes I've spent loads on them but I don't drink or smoke so these are my habit plus I've had to give up my track cars and grass tracking due to my back.
  20. Tyres finally arrived. Not perfect but for under 12 quid I'm happy with them. All mounted to new rims. Mounted to the truck Looks much better. Just need to paint the driver, tidy a bit of wiring and it's about done for now.
  21. Congratulations. Not a bad return on a fiver.
  22. Never had an issue with the supplied container. Maybe you were just unlucky and got a bad one. Maybe you could get some empty gallon metal containers like some fuel is sold in for extra piece of mind.
  23. Between pointless training courses and work time has been short but got some more bits done. Ramps repainted, stickered and fitted. Nose box refitted. Loaded up and ready to go. Rear lights need painting and I may paint the side locker green to break it up a bit. Room for just one more ?
  24. Made the most of the nice weather and got loads of painting done. Not gone to town with picture due to the current issue with postimage. I think once these build threads are done I'm not bothering with anymore, they are nothing without the pictures. Red was laid down yesterday and then masked and the green sprayed today. Ramps and lockers mocked up. Paint was still too soft really but just wanted an idea of how it looked. Unfortunately during either the painting or drying part of the deck has lifted slightly. Not sure how easy it will be to repair now it's painted, also painted the folding ramps the wrong colour so I now need to let them harden before I can flat and paint the correct colour. Really trying my patients this one.
