  1. Taken it as far as I can now without my paint delivery. Some of the edges are not quite as clean as I would like but nothing I can do about it now.
  2. Couple more bits done today, very slowly getting there.
  3. Got a bit done this evening. Numbers are sprayed on roof and sides, sponsor logo's in place ready for spraying. everything hand cut so it's taking a while, plus my German delivery never turned up so I have none of the main colours for the panels.
  4. Is that a plastic gearbox case I see in there....
  5. just remember not to pull on the wire when you go to turn it off lol
  6. Got a new Alfa 156 shell sitting in the living room thanks to rc-car-online.de and their great service, ready for me to open tomorrow for my birthday. Just finished doodling some paint designs, got my liquid mask and logo designs done. I just need for my paint to turn up tomorrow and hope that i don't bodge it up too much at the weekend. What could possibly go wrong....
  7. You're the buyer so as long as you are happy. I think they will look pretty smart when done.
  8. Can you take the wheel on and off the car without removing the hub cap fixing screws that attach it to the outer rim? If not then I would suggest revisiting the design.
  9. New fuel tank fitted after the old one continuously ****** fuel out of the fuel neck at the weekend.
  10. For my money you can't beat the standard clutches. I always carry a spare in my toolbox and it takes 10 mins to change one. Far easier than messing about with snapper clutches and from what I have read they aren't worth the money. Andy
  11. I'm always up for a bargain as well!
  12. So everything is now complete. I have overhauled the diff, replaced the brake disk and square, replaced the pinion gear, changed all the c-clips, removed all the rusty bearings and replaced with nice shiny smooth fresh ones, installed a kill switch, cleaned the carb and added a choke, binned the old air filter (actually had no filter in it at all, just a plastic hood), fitted my old X2 air filter, put new diff and drive cups on along with driveshafts with boots. The only thing that is left to do is the shell but there's nothing i can do about that at the moment, it will just have to look like a turd for a while. After all that it starts within 3 pulls which was a huge improvement, got a nice idle but will probably need some fettling to get it right at the top end. All I need is some dry whether on Sunday!
  13. Box of bits arrived from the fatherland. Just to wait until next week to get everything fitted.
  14. Just the necessities to get it running reliably. still looking for a 2nd hand shell.
  15. Full set of bearings arrived along with a new layshaft brake disk and some brake mounting hardware. Tomorrow should see a dhl delivery from rc-car-online.de with new pinion, diff bits, driveshaft, diff and drive cups, plastics and a few odds and sods.
  16. Would that be the one with the hole in the engine block? When's the manual labor coming to fix it?
  17. I'm really impressed with those wheels, although I can't work out whether he was pulling his punches with the hammer.
  18. Despite me being a frequent visitor to the rcmodelz site spending a boat load with them, I'll be waiting until both of these models have been in the uk public domain for a while before deciding IF I will change out my off road car for one. I have 3 1/5 scales now and no storage space and with me only just finishing my 5ive I will not be getting rid of that without at least a summer seasons use out of it first. Hopefully by that time many people will have tested both and many opinions for each will be available to read, comparing and contrasting.
  19. That's why I live phatdad stuff, excellent quality and bulletproof, built in small quantities.
  20. Managed to get the shell fitting reasonably OK. It's missing the front nose and is pretty trashed. Does anybody have a second hand 530/535mm wheelbase shell forsale?
  21. I think it actually may be a hybrid. it has triangular lower front arms and rounded uppers. there's no model with that combo from looking at all the manuals on competitionx.com
  22. I watched the king of hammers highlights. unfortunately winning that is just as much a testament to reliability as it is to performance. Those Iive axles do tramp everywhere, they hop and skip all over the place as the videos on YouTube show. A number of the faster cars of the 2016 event that had independent suspension components retired through technical failure. With all that said, it wouldn't stop me buying one of these, just because it's something different and appears to be very strong. in rc having a reliable car is probably more important than being the fastest. nobody wants to sit spannering on a car all the time whilst everybody else is racing.
  23. Bring the box on Sunday, not expecting the pinion to last long but it would be good to at least try it out.
