  1. Hey guys and gals, not been on the forum for 2 or 3 years lol I forgot all about it tbh, I was part of the origional trophy page discussion back yesteryear. I'll have a read through what you guys have been on with and a bit of a catch up. I took my flux up to the local quarry for a bash with friends and their cars....and I managed to do a jump and trap my battery wire with the pinion cutting into both +- wires and erm halting play....quickly pulled the body and batteries out as the were sparking and allsorts, scary moment lol. One batt is fine but the other I'll have to snip and 're solder another plug on and it'll be good to go again luckily
  2. I feel a little silly asking, but what would those measurements be? The shaft length or body?
  3. I've not been on here for a while, ive come to pick the x1crt up from the man shed and those dodgy rear shock shafts have leaked again, I've had a look around but not found any that I think are right, could someone possibly post me a part number for the rears please? I'm going to turn my attentions back to this as I replaced the spur gear on the savage the other morning, and after 5 mins running around on a flat field and the conrod snapped ? to be fair I've ran the 5.9 for over a year with no real issues.....non the less annoying though
  4. I've only got the Center diff and brake assembly left to strip and clean (the Mrs thinks I'm nuts because I've pulled everything apart and cleaned with a topthbrush, please tell me this is normal) ?? Anyhew, I changed the plastic steering post bushes for some bearings that just happen to fit from another rc but if I tighten the top screws with the plate on the steering goes way to stiff. It was like that before that's why I swapped them over. I've tried putting a little inner diff shim between the bearing and the plate but it still binds. I ran out of time at work so put some blue threadlock on and just lightly nipped the screws so it was ok. Any ideas? I Think I'm going to grind the tiny washer even smaller in diameter and see if that works...
  5. I'm just in the middle of stripping and servicing the front diff and the gasket has disintegrated as I've taken the crown off, it was a leaky diff anyway as the 4 screws were loose and it's empty too. I think I have a spare one in some bits I got off fleabay recently but when I did the rear the other day there was no gasket at all and it didn't leak, does anyone have the part number for the future of it does or one from a different rc that's the same size? I'll wait until it's been out for a run and see if all is still ok before I strip it again to to put a gasket on i think...
  6. I think when it gets to the time for servos I will probably use the steering servo I took off the savage for the steering on the x1 and just buy a cheap one for the throttle and brake, I will also need some 2.4ghz radio gear or a set of crystals for the old tx/rx that came with it. I didn't intend of doing a full strip and rebuild but it seems that way now lol I've taken one of the diffs out and will probably look at changing the oil in it later on, I have a few from doing the other cars and was thinking something t Like 7k front and 5k rear does that sound around about ok for this truggy?
  7. That looks pretty sweet, I thought about going bl with it but as it's a bit older and parts arnt as easy to find as some others I thought I'd just clean it all up and take it out now and then for a bit more of a gentle bash, I have the trophy buggy flux for bl fun and a savage 5.9 for bashing too. It won't be up and running for a while yet as I don't always have the time and money to do what I'd like but I'm slowly gathering bits and bobs that it needs. Do you have any suggestions for a cheap servo? I've just swapped the steering servo in the savage so going to use that as one of the missing ones for the x1.
  8. I took it In work today to have a tinker at dinner time, I took a couple of pics but they don't show just how dirty it is I took all the shocks off to take home and service there, and took the rear section off to attack tomorrow if I get time. I knew the rear shocks needed some attention as they seemed like there was no oil in them....i wasn't expecting mud though I found a slightly bent shaft on the front and one on the rear, they seemed ok as I was filling them with some 50wt oil, only time will tell.
  9. The best thing for nitro cars is patience, as suggested by previous replies if it's ruining well with some smoke and it's not bogging down then just enjoy playing with it while it lasts haha. most nitro cars will need a little tweeking from day to day as different weather conditions mean the ambient air could be thinner or heavier on humid days meaning they may need leaning or richening up a little in accordance. Most bashers find a happy medium and that'll do kinda thing where as racers need peak performance for each race. I have a savage x with a 5.9 lump in it and a lot of people say they're hard work, but once id sorted any little issues out it's ran like a trooper for months now without feeling the need to re tune it and I've been out through summer and winter all the same. Sounds like the one way bearing has gone as that is what grips the backplate shaft and turns your engine over, take it out and have a look to see if its cracked, if not then you can either replace with a new one or try and clean the gunk from that with cotton buds and put it back on the shaft and see if it grips. If it does then winner, if not then it's a new one I'm afraid. I've been through quite a few too....
  10. Hey guys is anyone still running these? I picked up a nitro x1 crt a couple of weeks ago from local fb page. it's a bit dirty and in need of a strip down and clean up, a couple of servos, lower front arm and radio gear but I think I got a good deal with some other bits. I won a few more spare bits on fleabay for a good price too so hopefully be up and running soon enough
  11. I've not posted on here for a while, but I went out the other week with a friend and let him loose with the tbf while I farted around with the stubborn savage and yokomo for a bit. He crashed a few times and eventually broke the front steering buckle, bent the front A arm pin holder, snapped the back one, and broken the diff casing. I fixed it all up at work today and then realised the battery case/holder is also snapped at the corner, can anyone tell me the part number for this as I can't seem to find one. As for diff oil I've not done mine for a while but I think I've got 7k/10k/5k in mine
  12. Hey guys, I've got an old yokomo gt4r touring car with a novarossi m12 engine that's suppose to be pretty fast. The problem is I managed to break the threads on the 2 speed centax clutch bell removing the pinion so it's kind of useless now. I now it's part number yokomo ze-610 but I can't find one anywhere. Does anyone know of any places I may find one as I'm struggling to do so myself. I do have a second gt4, but it runs an rx18 I think and also has a different clutch bell to the one I'm liking for. I did see a set on fleabay a few months ago from California but I didn't have the 50+ quid for it at the time, now I do I can't find any.... Tia
  13. I have the 5.9 in my savage x, it was a pain at first with a fair bit of tinkering....and swearing involved due to starting and running issues. Once I got it all sused out it's been fine and beats my mates 3.2 up on the quarry. That said it's still temperamental when it wants to be ? but that's all part of rc cars. I would probably look for a different motor when this one goes
  14. I can't find any pictures on this new phone but I found an old YouTube link of my favourite bash spot, well, a tiny section of it anyway. I'll take a couple next week if I go up again. A few of the forum members have been up here over time. Newhey quarry, north west
  15. I've been meaning to have a look for this place when I go over to the in laws but never seem to get chance, http://halifaxtrack.co.uk
  16. Had a couple of hours out on Sunday, took the buggy and the savage, and for once the savage came back still working the trophy on the other hand was a little less successful. Not major biggies but annoying all the same, 10 mins in and the back wheel rolled off down the hill of it's own accord, bugger, couldn't find the nut so I had a spare one anyway. 10 mins later, same wheel dissappears off again couldn't find it this time and didn't have another spare with me. On the upside, it was fun while it lasted, and the savage was running like a beast
  17. If memory serves me right, there was a thread of making your own vacuum forming machine and the bits and bobs needed on here a while ago, I just had a quick look on here but didn't find the post I was thinking about, Google will be your best bet probably
  18. That's probably what I'll end up doing, I like the stripping, cleaning and rebuilding side of the hobby, I find it quite therapeutic, and it's a nice change from working on 1:1 cars for a living
  19. Thanks for the info guys, I'll have a read through of your thread when I've got more time to sit down evs, for now I'm upto p4 lol I'm not sure what route to go down when I do but it'll only be for bashing up at the local quarry, I wanted one ages ago but couldn't justify the price tag so I got a used nitro x instead, that cured my itch for a while but it's coming back again ha, I contemplated converting the 5.9, but I like it too much and thought a nice flux would look good sat next to it. Also means I can let the Mrs loose with the x and not cringe all the time as I'll be buisy watching mine....
  20. So I'm in the process of saving up (might take a while with family commitments) for a savy flux, I've already got a trophy buggy flux and a savy x 5.9 (and more but that's irrelevant for now ) whilst I love the nitro side of things, I also like the ease of Lipo power and not having to faff around every time I go out. Not sure if I'm going new or 2nd hand yet, only time will tell. I've come across a few used alza flux's, but what are they? Are they just upgraded parts or can you buy one new? What's the difference and how are they better...if they are?
  21. I'm not clued up on these cars tbh, but just did a quick fleabay search and there's a menace on at £100 at the moment. I then clicked "refine" and scrolled sown to "see more" and ticked the completed listings and sold boxes and then clicked done, this shows previous fleabay listings and what they sold for, some £50-120+ Did the same with the xtr3 and they range from £50-200+
  22. My younger brother lives in France and he recently bought himself a trophy buggy 3.5 rtr new for his first car and he loves it, he's only rang me a couple of times for help with it up to now and he's had it a while.
  23. The most important thing is to not rush in and just "buy one" because the money was burning a hole in your pocket. If you take your time and do your homework you should get a good car. 150 isn't the best budget for starting out, as said previously there are other things needed at the beginning not just a car. I know it can be hard to save money up but, I think you could do with a little more to play with so that your able to get a decent car and all the essentials needed rather than buy cheep buy twice and kick yourself. I've bought quite a few 2nd, 3rd (you never actually know how many people have abused them) and been lucky, paying 30 for a wr8 flux needing motor wheels she'll ect, savage x 5.9 for 100, trophy buggy flux needing nothing but a clean ect... But I wouldn't recommend second hand for a first car though, if you buy new from a reputable shop then you get peace of mind, tech advice and warranty spares. Stay away from the ftx range as they're known for being a bit easy to break. I'd probably say something hpi as they're strong'ish, easy to fiddle with and there's plenty ofvrhem about. I'm not biased, I've got 4 lol
