I'm a nitro fan myself, a lot of the enjoyment is tinkering about in my opinion, I enjoy stripping down, cleaning, servicing and then rebuild, if you want a clean, less fuss option, then battery power may be a preference, but if you have the space, the time, the money, and the tools, and your not scared of getting a bit oily, then give nitro a go, a lot of trucks, buggies, truggies etc come as a ready to run kit, with everything you need to get started, except fuel, I bought a 2nd hand HPI Savage last year, and I have had enormous enjoyment with it, all the stock components that were expected to fail, have done so, and have upgraded them all, along with several mods I gleaned of the web, all in all, it's a pretty bad ass truck now, I even installed a new, and bigger motor, as the stock one self destructed, it now shifts like a rat up a drain pipe, and I haven't even tuned it from stock carb settings yet, all in all, nitro for me is a winner, the noise is great, the smell of the fumes is quite nice too hope that helps, anything you need to know, just ask, people on here are great, and super helpful, and have helped me out when I'm stuck with something
Good luck
