  1. Hey All!!! I have a HPI Savage that is currently not getting any use, I've spent a fair bit on it with mods, upgrades etc and all in all it's a cracking truck, but I'm pursuing other RC activities at the moment and don't like the idea of it just sitting there, if I sell it I'm certain I'll regret it, maybe, my idea is to put it into semi retirement, so what's the best thing to do about that, do I just let it sit around, or do I break it down, if so, how, motor out, gearbox etc, and then rebuild when I feel I have the time to put it back into regular service ?? Cheers
  2. Not yet, I think the goggles I bought are defective, although I can't be sure, I used your advice about going through all the channels, and that seemed to have some impact on what I was seeing, it wasn't just snow I was seeing, but some lines as well, I tried a few channels on the vtx as well as the goggles and cycled through all channels and frequencies etc, with no real results, other than the occasional flicker or brightening of the screen, I'm a bit stumped as to what to do next. cheers !!!
  3. Thanks for the info Will follow your advice and start troubleshooting as soon as I get chance, will also post pics of my setup too, the cam doesn't have a video out plug or cable, so I will focus on rx and goggles to see what occurs, thanks again
  4. Hi all, So, I want to set up an FPV rig to fit on my flying wing, I have purchased an Eachine Tx03 mini cam with built in vtx, I also have an Eachine Vrx and have bought the necessary cables and so on to get it to work with a Google Nexus, but, when I tried to get them to bind on the correct channel and frequency, all I get is blue screen, so I then purchased a set of FPV glasses (F640 on eBay), with built in receiver, set up FR and CH to match the cam and Vtx, and still no live feed on the glasses, now, either the dual cam and Vtx are faulty or I'm missing something, both cam and Vtx have power, from the receiver on the model, no problem, the Vrx I originally bought had power, no problem, the glasses have power, as all I get is snow, Im waiting for a möbius cam, and separate Vtx to see if that's the problem, if it is, no worries, I'm happy, but I get the feeling it won't, so, what am I missing, am I being a proper numpty and getting it all wrong, or am I just a bit unlucky, and need decent functioning equipment to enable me to achieve some success, it really is a bit of a mine field, but to be honest, I don't wanna chuck any more cash at it until I've had at least some success, please help Cheers, all advice is welcome, good or bad
  5. I'm a nitro fan myself, a lot of the enjoyment is tinkering about in my opinion, I enjoy stripping down, cleaning, servicing and then rebuild, if you want a clean, less fuss option, then battery power may be a preference, but if you have the space, the time, the money, and the tools, and your not scared of getting a bit oily, then give nitro a go, a lot of trucks, buggies, truggies etc come as a ready to run kit, with everything you need to get started, except fuel, I bought a 2nd hand HPI Savage last year, and I have had enormous enjoyment with it, all the stock components that were expected to fail, have done so, and have upgraded them all, along with several mods I gleaned of the web, all in all, it's a pretty bad ass truck now, I even installed a new, and bigger motor, as the stock one self destructed, it now shifts like a rat up a drain pipe, and I haven't even tuned it from stock carb settings yet, all in all, nitro for me is a winner, the noise is great, the smell of the fumes is quite nice too hope that helps, anything you need to know, just ask, people on here are great, and super helpful, and have helped me out when I'm stuck with something Good luck
  6. Thanks for the reply. So this is where I'm at, I picked out the above items, and have since ordered more cables to suit my needs, so, I now have power to the camera with built in vtx, via the reciever on the model, have got power to the vrx, through a rewired battery pack used on FPV goggles, video signal is passed through the cables that came with the vrx to an easy cap video converter to an otg cable, which then goes to my google nexus, have applied the necessary software (app) to allow me to view the video, having set up the correct channels and frequencies on both vtx and vrx, all I get is blue screen, suppose it was naive to think it would work first time, but hey ho, anyway, why the blue screen ?? One thing I didn't do is power up the tx for the model, but that shouldn't make any difference should it, so with that in mind that's my next step, assuming that won't make any difference, I have concluded that the reciever isn't getting the signal, from the vtx, I'm on Ch1 and Fr1 with both units, and have set the vtx to 25mW, I will post a picture of my set up when I get chance, for now any ideas why I have blue screen only Any help would be much appreciated
  7. Hi mate Did you ever buy those items from Banggood, I'm thinking of the same setup for my flying wing, things I don't know 1 How is the receiver powered 2 What do you view the feed from ie iPad/goggles etc 3 How is camera and TX powered 4 How are the RX and video linked Cheers
  8. Also, I'm an idiot as I was turning the idle screw the wrong way what a div !!!!
  9. Could be the linkage, there is a lot of play on the throttle mixer, I have ordered an alloy one which will hopefully sort that problem cheers !!!!
  10. Hey y'all Just installed an LRP ZR30 spec2 on my Savage and went for a break in today, very frustrating First pull and it fired then cut out straight away, after a few more pulls, some tinkering with the throttle on the Tx and it fired again then died, after several attempts and only a few times of starting but not for more than a couple of seconds, it occurred that the idle setting must be wrong Is this usual for a brand new engine to have way of needle settings, and am I turning it the right way, I was turning it CCW to open it for more revs at idle, is this right or am I being a noob I eventually made some progress, but very little, and only got through 1/2 tank, but every time I hit the brake the engine cut out Any and all advice will be welcome
  11. Awesome, thanks for that, will the LRP be happy to run on the Savage polished aluminium pipe, or will it be rubbish
  12. I've just gone for the LRP on my savage too, pull start version, was wondering which nitro/rotor start backplate will fit the LRP CHEERS !!
  13. Thanks for that, will bear it in mind, I'm seriously considering the LRP
  14. Hey, Thanks for the info, that's really helped a lot
