  1. Quick question, what's the difference between the Hyper VS and the Hyper VSE buggy?
  2. Ah, I've seen my mistake now. I've been getting my PS and TS sprays from Tamiya mixed up. Turns out there is a lot more translucent PS sprays which answers my initial question.
  3. Yeah, I appreciate that the bodies are different and need different paints, it's more trying to find a selection of paints beyond the green from Tamiya and the 3 that Fastrax do, seems most of the suppliers are US based.
  4. I have a couple of bodies, a Lunch Box and a clear body from another Tamiya that I'd like to paint. I've not done a great deal of painting, but have enjoyed what I've done so far and I'd like to try something a little different and candy paints caught my eye, however, they all seem to need an airgun, which isn't going to happen at the moment. From what I've learnt, it's a few thin coats of candy and then backed with a metallic colour (silver / black etc) depending on the effect that you are after.
  5. Am I right in thinking that they only do it in green though? TS-52 Candy lime green
  6. I'm struggling to find a candy style paint in a can, there are 3 colours that are made by Fastrax, but everything else needs an airgun. Is there a decent source for candy paints out there that I've not yet found?
  7. What do you define as a decent touring car setup?
  8. In a bid to save money, I'm tempted to paint my Lunch Box in that lovely Mad Van red. What colour do you think would be closest and what colour base layers should I use? Tamiya TS85 Bright Mica Red looks quite close, but I'm not sure it'll work on the shell
  9. Thanks both, should have tho6of Amazon, they do A4 wraps for laptops which should work a treat.
  10. Does anybody know where I can get a small sheet / sheets of vinyl wrap that I can cut and use on the Axial Ryft (and anything else I end up wanting to wrap!). There is this stuff out in the US: https://www.shopsorgraphics.com/search?q=ryft However, I'd like to find something UK supplied, doesn't have to be pre-cut as I'm happy to do that myself.
  11. The kit is here, I'm going to go with this setup for the time being: https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/287975/
  12. Good shout, I'll keep researching
  13. Thanks for the info, I think of like to keep the motor under £100, and the Asiatees option looks too far into crawler territory, I'd prefer something a bit quicker. You posted a link to these in the news section, budget wise this seems ok: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/skyrc-toro-x8-pro-v3-2150kv-bl-motor-1337545 they also do a 2300kv I believe
  14. That's interesting, I was just about to ask about that 2 gear option that comes with the kit. The only thing I'm missing at the moment for the kit is the motor, I do have a 2200kv Hobbywing EZRUN MAX8 and associated ESC that I could put in it. However, the idea that the lower gear could make it into a half baked crawler (I'm not that fussed, but would like to have a basic option for crawling). So would that motor be ok, or would I be better off looking at a sensored option (I have a plan for the Max8 anyway) be better to get some lower speed control? In short, what's the best all round motor that focuses on the rock racing style of driving, but can make use of the lower gear as well?
  15. Ryft Kit has been ordered, I apologise in advance for inane and continuous questions!
  16. I'm torn between the two. Initial purchase price is about the same, but the Ryft needs electronics, most of which I have, but I'll have to spend about £100 on a motor. I really enjoy the process of building the cars, and that's what draws me to the Ryft, also that it's something a bit different. The Big Rock is interesting as it's raved about, built really well and goes like stink. I also have a Typhon which is pretty much the only car that doesn't break and need any work from drive to drive. Logic says get the Big Rock as a I don't have a monster truck, but I don't plan to bash it as such, but there is something about the look of the Ryft that's interesting, plus the fact it needs building. Thoughts on the two are welcome.
  17. Thanks. With regards to the motor, is there a way to tell if it's 540 or 550, it doesn't seem to be clear as to what determines it. Sorry for the daft question, but I'm struggling to price up the kit with electronics as I don't really know what motors are 550...
  18. I'm very much torn by the Ryft. I love the look of it, I think it will be good in loads of places near me (woodland, fields etc) but every review I've seen talk about it breaking all the time, and this thread does nothing to quash those fears. With the kit coming out next month, does it address the issues that everybody has had with the truck so far? Also, with the kit, it looks like a very big 1/10th truck, and I'm not sure if this motor will be enough for it: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-trackstar-waterproof-1-10-brushless-power-system-3000kv-80a.html
  19. Hi all. I have my Bullet MT Flux that I'm looking to sell, however I have no idea what it's worth. It has the more recent motor (HPI Flux MMH-4000kv Brushless) and ESC (HPI-112851 - HPI Flux EMH-3S Waterproof Brushless ESC). The issue with it is that the front diff seems to have gone, and I have enough projects to be getting on with. What are they worth now? I'll pop it in the for sale section once I have a price as eBay seems to go from £100 to £300! Any advice would be gratefully received!
  20. Just popped into this thread to see if my list of planned upgrades for my yet to be delivered LB were suitable, this has confirmed what I was about to say! It's a shame that the AMPro bits are so much to deliver to the UK, makes it's far too expensive to use as an option. The first question I have at the moment is around shocks. Given that *nothing* official is in stock, I'm going to try and find something else, do I need an 80mm shock? Also, what do people use in terms of a 2s battery? The tray looks fiddly and I don't think any of my normal hardcase 2s batteries are going to fit.
  21. Lovely, thanks! Always good to be fully clued up before starting a build.
  22. Thanks! I'll pick up a Lunch Box to 'use with the kids' in the meantime...
  23. Looks like there is a delay of a couple of months on the electric roller coming back in to stock, but I can get the nitro roller. Is the swap to electric pretty simple? I've zero interest in running a nitro car, so I would flog the nitro bits. Is this simple enough to do, or would I end up having to source loads of odd ball parts that are also likely to be out of stock?
  24. Just seen a video on it, I think the VSE is the right one for me, the Pro looks similar to the Krayton, which I have at the moment and that's unloved and unused as it's been a constant source of issues since I bought it.
