  1. small run on grass today, small flip which somehow released the hump pack door shutting all power off with throttle fully open and then realising really fast that I don't think I have a return spring on the throttle servo, so.... several seconds later at about 25mph it launched itself off a small bank into cast iron railings (effin awesome air looking back), the rear spoiler got wedged and the engine then went postal as the air filter had been smacked off, then it died a few seconds later screaming like it was about to explode big enough to level a city. I expected to find a mass of wreckage and a mangled engine block, but to my shock there was none, just the air filter had come off and the car ran out of fuel at the most perfect time which is what shut the engine off. Luck was certainly on my side today. so on topic..... "I put the air filter back on after it fell off" lol
  2. order some extra screws, I learned that lesson the hard way..lol
  3. as long as they are classed as waterproof (servo's, Receiver, battery area) then they will happily run in the rain. (not my video but this is the HPI trophy 3.5 buggy) http://youtu.be/CqC1wmLJyP4
  4. Still looking for a bashing buddy in this area.
  5. Still no bashers near tipton/bilston area?
  6. The more experienced guys here can answer the servo issue, im still way too noobie to know. but I do know the Trophy will fly when tuned, even drag raced a VW golf and beat it in a 100 metre run..lol So it is fast once tuned (not as fast as the 4.6 of course but fast for what it is.) Running it on grass really cuts down its performance when tuning it. Few tips I found was to leave the low needle stock and the high end needle 2 full turns in from flush/default, Th trim on max on the controller and then adjust your idle to those settings. I was running 25% nitro and it didn't seem to like it much and kept coughing, dropped to 16% (got a 5ltr for a tenner, bargain!) and now it runs much better with a much smoother idle. I am still very new to nitro and this isnt advice, just relaying what I have done with mine to push performance to the max.
  7. When nitro ignites it is like the fonz of fires, laid back, chilled and as threatening as a newborn kitten, very lazy flames similar to a firelighter block. So thinking it will go "Whooosh" in your face is a tad unlikely. I love the colour it burns though. I always refuel with engine running, I tend to get a few hiccups if I stop the engine then run it again. when I first had mine I ran it with engine mount screws lose, it was going half throttle when it slipped and shredded the cogs. So even if you are itching, it is better to wait until everything is secured with some decent thread lock. It doesn't have to be the exact screw but it has to be the same style thread thickness or you will destroy the thread, I use a tiny drip of superglue on the edge of the screw heads to give it that extra bit of fixing if I am bashing on heavy terrain.
  8. click "gallery" at the top, then click "Upload" button top right, browse to your image (click browse) Once the upload has finished come back to this message, in the reply area you will see "My Media", select that and your picture will be in there (select the middle option on the left in that window if you don't see the pic) once clicked it will auto add it to your message.
  9. When it is tuned up well it flies on solid surfaces, if it doesn't seem fast then check the controller trim for throttle. took me a few weeks to get it tuned right and when you get it perfect you will be happy with the trophy performance (expect something to break or screws come lose and vanish almost every run though lol)
  10. Thank you, way too far for me to travel on my spastic wagon my type of luck that it is the opposite side of Dudley to me, is there anything like that around Coseley/Bilston area do you know?
  11. I would love to make the meet, sick of bashing alone over by jubilee park in coseley, where exactly is Dudley wood BMX track? I looked on google earth but I guess that will be outdated and not show the track? I am disabled and will be using a mobility scooter to get there if it isn't too far from where I live, I don't drive so this is the only method of transport I have to get there.
  12. I have the same issue with mine so I had to pump up the suspension using all of the adjusting clips, it doesn't get up to full speed but it certainly shifts a lot faster over the grass without working the engine so hard. unlimited amount of fields here too and no industrial area's close by for a good bash. Bog standard parts are easy to get for the trophy but when it comes to custom, it isn't easy to find much for it (well not for me anyway as I am still RC noobie status, only 2 months into the hobby) Best thing I have got so far is the Louise high down-force racing wing. I found that using eBay.com instead of eBay UK is cheaper, good to use if you don't mind waiting for the part. It took 5 days for the wing to arrive and that was from Thailand.
  13. I got my HPI Trophy 3.5 Nitro for 120 rtr inc postage from eBay, it is easy to use and parts are easy to replace.
  14. Like my HPI trophy (in the pic) mixed with a monster truck, so it isn't a buggy and isn't a truck, its a mix. My trophy is my first nitro and I bought it second hand, lots and lots of headaches, but the advantage is it helped me learn a lot more about them by getting my hands dirty. Problem is I have spent more time fixing problems and replacing parts than actually using it. so from one noobie to another, stick with new if you can unless you enjoy headaches and extra cost.
  15. Lipo alarm, 17mm wheel nuts anodized red, Louise rear wing, orange cable ties, body posts and a free sample of coffee that tasted like burnt wood.
  16. and they can break easy depending on where you bash it out, but they can also fly like an eagle and take hits like a boss.... all down to luck, mainly bad with mine lol. so far mine has been run over (servo flipped out and accelerated into busy crossroads), it got flattened the same day I joined this forum and to my shock the only damage was the servo and a very curved chassis, I have two failsafes now. lol Once I had it straightened out and put back together it started first pull (after a 20 pull fully open throttle prime.) The Trophy can take a real beating. (mine has anyway) Does anyone know how the compatability of the Trophy concerning shells? as in could a 1/8 touring car shell fit onto the Trophy with shell post modification? or any other shells anyone can recommend? getting bored of the graphite look.
  17. I was searching using the part number from the manual as it wasnt listed in the parts index, Typical I found it was the whole wing mount as a set instead of being able to buy the mounts seperately. google seemed to only show mounts from every other vehicle except the trophy, I found them a little while after asking....typical. Thanks for the reply anyway, appreciated.
  18. would anyone know where I can get some body/shell posts/mounts for the Trophy 3.5 nitro, cant find them anywhere
  19. Hey all, Nice forum setup you have here. The name is Lee and I currently reside in Coseley in between Wolverhampton and Dudley. I am fairly new to RC Nitro but it is something I have picked up fast and I am addicted to tinkering and tuning, any tips would be appreciated as well if anyone knows of any nitro clubs in the coseley area of Wolverhampton as well. My HPI Trophy buggy (I cant stop changing its look..lol, I need a club!!) http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/29788-trophypic1/
