  1. Certainly not cheap, i'm after the Hilux monster racer which im sure you know is just the same albeit a different body and wheels. I had one back in the early 90's and loved it....I never found out what happened to it, it vanished long ago with my Madcap which i also miss badly. Maybe my parents still have them somewhere?
  2. All you need is the original Tamiya 1/10th to complete the set lol...
  3. Looks really cool mate.

Yeah Wonderland Models, used to be good when i was a kid in the 80's and 90's but now just a small section like you said all Tamiya. Also the staff were pretty clueless when it came to RC. If you like Tamiya Time Tunnel is the place to go, literally floor to ceiling in Tamiya kits......awesome! They stock all the spares too, even older stuff.

I live in Edinburgh and in the whole city there is just one shop which has a tiny section reserved for RC, although i do have Time Tunnel Models which is about a 35 minute drive away and is a Tamiya wonderland.
  6. I take it you must of accidently changed the settings to change the direction of the motor? Because if not you might have motor wires incorrectly plugged into your ESC, this can also have the same effect. Also my pinion came loose and munched the mount, gave the grub screw a good dose of blue threadlock and its never came off since.

The skate park is the biggest enemy or the RC, especially a 1/8th with its weight. If you dont land things then even your Tekno would go home in a bin bag. Something smaller and lighter is needed for skate parks.

Mate, its not going to break unless you stuff it into a wall or something similar at speed....you wont need many parts, its not a Traxxas where it will blow diffs and snap driveshafts. A conventional 1/8th buggy or truggy is the most durable RC around IMO.

Just looking in modelsport now, i seen spare arms, diff gears, knuckles, suspension hangers, parts for shocks, imput gears, body shell, drive cups etc and that was the first place i tried. Plus more on supplier stock....there will be other places too.

In another thread i said go for either a Talion or Kraton but i know how you feel about Arrma. Check out what part support for Associated and Mugen are like and maybe get a kit. I would love a Mugen, heard nothing but good things about them.

There must be an alternative to an E-Revo? Any 1/8th Truggy would surely fit the bill, and they cant all have bad part support! Arrma, losi, Team Associated, Mugen and more.....you will find parts for something.

Yeah, my neighbour and guys i used to bash with all had Traxxas and they all broke every time we had a bash.... and im not joking....i just dont get it.

I can see it now, an underground blackmarket for 2nd hand RC parts, we'll have to watch every time we go for a bash with our dodgy parts we might get arrested by the Traxxas SS.

Daft was maybe a bit harsh but i've never had any real problems tracking parts down even for Arrma, people say for years now, dont get Arrma because of parts supply, sure its not as easy to find as Traxxas or Tamiya but just look and youll find what you need. Same with Kyosho people say its hard to find parts!! Is it? I've had no problems there either. To be fair my Arrma is pretty much bulletproof and doesn't break, same with my Hyper.....Just buy a car that won't break a lot in the first place.

I think people are just going to have to agree to disagree. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and things are not going to be resolved on this thread lol. As i said at the start of the thread i don't like it, but i understand it from a business point of view and because of crazy American patent laws they take full advantage. When it comes to not buying models from other companies for fear of parts supply, that's daft.....if you look hard enough you can find almost anything. Also Traxxas are not the biggest player imo and are certainly not going to be the only company left in the future......I would love to see try and topple Tamiya or even Kyosho.....Tamiya will be around forever lol.
  17. I used some from the Team Durango DEX8, i'm pretty sure you can use Mugen 1/8th diff shims but i could be wrong.

If others did that no company would get anything done for constant legal battles......its not needed anyway, says a lot about Traxxas if you ask me.....shocking.

So many things on that list were done by other companies long before Traxxas, also this whole situation with the Arrma Nero is also a joke.

Nobody will be able to make anything RC related without having to look over their shoulder incase Traxxas pounse with some sort of claim.....
  21. Using 30,000 wt Front 60,000 wt Centre 10,000 wt Rear works well for me...
  22. I'm not sure, I know Team Durango is no more and some of the people who worked there apparently are now at Arrma and they just released a bunch of new cars. It doesn't seem like they are going anywhere....or maybe its just wishful thinking..... I'm hoping they survive as they make great cars!!
  23. Probably right to stay away from it, seems a bit of a hassle in lots of ways.......Honestly mate, i would try to get hold of an Arrma despite this whole Hobbico predicament. Im pretty sure Arrma arnt going anywhere soon as they keep releasing new cars. The Kraton and Talion are brilliant, the latest cars have Hobbywing electronics and are proper tough. Ive only ever bent a shock shaft and those parts have been updated for the new V3 cars. Also aftermarket companies such as RPM, Hot Racing, GPM, GKA and others provide lots of upgrades if you want to down that route.
  24. Aaahh i see, my Talion runs 10/43 gearing in the front and rear diffs which is pretty similar to what i've seen in other truggys. If the Berserker is much different to that then it would explain it. Do you know what gearing the Berserker runs?
  25. It would work fine, i run a hobbywing 4274 2000kv with a 150amp quicrun on 4s with 19/50 gearing in my Arrma Talion and its plenty quick, also never had any problems with temps even in the summer. The Talion is also running on a set of proline Badlands which are slightly bigger than stock wheels. IMO you dont need a huge can and i think 1450kv is a bit low especially on 4s.
