  1. nah, its not weak, my mates have them and they are fine, the plastic has lots of give in it. it would probably bend quite a bit before it snapped, but unless it gets run over its not going to happen
  2. If you burnt it in the open all it does is hold a flame for a while, its only when you start mixing it with oxygen in a confides space such as a nitro bottle or can. Also, if you let it evapourate on the patio, it will just leave the mess of oil behind
  3. You've obviously never had a big block, My blister still hasn't fully healed from running the savage in, the compression on that was stupid. Also, like with any pull start, pull gently for the first couple of cm to take up the play and slack, rather than just yanking it straight off.
  4. i agree, they are pants. When i was running mine in, the throttle stuck on and it came flying towards me. Its hurts stopping a .46 with your ankle, thank christ it was running really rich.
  5. i would stick with 16% and get some life out of the engine, its nippy enough as it is without killing it with 25%
  6. Got the stainless screw kit today and it seems pretty good, plenty of screws although of the larger set screws had to be cut down by 8mm or so to fit in some of the holes. Nothing a cutting disk wouldn't solve though. Waiting on: Engine mount Engine Exhaust Infra red temp gauge (gonna try the heat cycle run in method)
  7. With those wheels its turned from truck into truggy, meaty wheels are the way forward mate, not low profiles.
  8. LMAO, it will take weeks to file it lol
  9. totally agree, i've got some in the car atm lol
  10. best thing is to have snipe nosed in the other hand ready to grab it
  11. i presume your talking about circlips, in which case circlip pliers are the answer. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CIRCLIP-PLIER-PLIERS...VQQcmdZViewItem
  12. I'd have kept the boots but i needed money and one set had to go, and the smaller ones are more practical like you say. I did like the big ones though, they looked mint. I'm going for the STS pipe i think, cheap enough anyway.
  13. me and my mate did that in Rotherham town centre in the fountain, i've never seen a 6ft mound of bubbles before
  14. expanding foam in the headteachers exhaust is a good one. Somebody painted tangoed on our roof once in big letters and orange paint, now that was good. They also painted a big willy and some giant balls.
  15. i've now made the .46 into a piston keyring bout all its good for now STS .28 will be on order soon, hopefully getting an engine mount cheap off ebay tomorrow, getting a tuned pipe also. I've also bought a JE spares screw kit, and SIN is giving/selling me some 17mm hexes so we should be up and running again soon, gonna run the new engine on 20% i think, be a bit kinder to it, and with the smaller wheels it should put less strain on everything
  16. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=009 bargain price i reckon, seen as they are £30 a pair new, and they've had little use.
  17. where can i get some 17mm hex adaptors for my savage, its currently on 14mm with the massive hot bodies wheels but i want to use the standard sized wheels. Cheers.
  18. well i'll deffo need an exhaust, i guess i'll have to wait and see if i need an engine mount or a clutch. looks like i'll have a cooling head for a HB .46 for sale when it arrives. FFS the boots are big but it shouldn't kill the engine
  19. After running the engine in and tuning it up, it appears the bottom end brass bearing has failed on the .46, i'm looking to get it replaced but if not i'm going to go for the STS .28 or .30. If i get one of these, will i need a different engine mount? because the chassis is longer remember? or will an STS bolt straight to the truckzilla mount. Also, i will need an exhaust manifold? as the .46 had a side exit whereas the STS has a rear exhaust. And what about the clutch, will that go on or will i need another? Thanks for the help
  20. Just running it in gave me blisters, its a complete [CENSORED]ing [CENSORED] to start, the pull start is way too small for the amount of compression it has. Priming it is impossible as you can't hold your finger over the exhaust, hold the savage down and pull at the same time lol. Disaster struck last night though, when the savage came pre-built the spur has a bit too much play than it really should have, and being impatient i ran it anyway, and last night a small jump stripped all the teeth off. Also i've completely destroyed the head so i've bought this lovely piece of bling. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...p;rd=1&rd=1 Apart from that, its running lovely. I had a quick drag with a 4.6 and top end it creamed it, probably because of the big wheels and the gearing, but you can't really compare as it depends what tune your running. I'm sure a lighter savvy and smaller engine could beat me if they were running uber lean But one thing is for sure, its got a hell of a lot more torque than the 4.6. One of the things i like about the big wheels is they arn't really that grippy on tarmac so with the extended chassis aswell, when i accelerate it doesn't go into a wheelie frenzy.
  21. all nitro cars should have some sort of engine protection, its one of the things that annoy me. Its the most vulnerable part of the car, especially without the body shell on. I had my savvy an hour and managed to snap a fin off the heatsink.
  22. with an old analogue speed controller voltage isn't really in issue as it just uses resistance to control the speed via contacts, so as long as the receiver can handle the extra voltage (not sure what their voltage range is TBH) you will be fine. The motor will probably run on 9.6 anyway, although it may run fine or it may only last a few minutes so really your best off sticking with 7.2. If you wanted runtime, you could just wire another stick pack up in parallel.
  23. I've got a Kyosho buggy and i totally stand by it, its almost older than me if not older (nearly 18) and its still going strong after being off road, crashed on the street, raced. Kyosho is a large company and make very good models, so if you choose it over the very popular Hyper 7, you wouldn't be making a wrong decision.
  24. how have i missed this thread, nice work mate.
