  1. although there is now gasket behind the pull start, but i am guessing that does not matter as it is below the piston and sleeve so has nothing to do with compression?
  2. I dont think i have any leaks, i will double check in a little while, there is a good trail of blue smoke. if i wind the high end and low end out a little will that richen or lean the car?

    Awesome!

Gutted! Luckily i work odd shifts so some months i am regularly at home during the day when most people are at school or work so the bmx track is generally empty..... but not for long....

Thanks, just need to get it running properly again. If the replacement pull start arrives tomorrow then i think tomorrow afternoon will see my fuel used up! lol

    Awesome!

Not sure whether this is the right section or whether it should be in touring or rally so if its in the wrong place i apologize. I just wanted to say that i took the car to the local BMX track today which consits of a lot of fairly big jumps and the surface is made of mostly a mix of Shail / fine gravel / mud with a small amount of tarmac. I have not had the car long and have used it on a skate pack, car park and now the bmx track..... Its Awesome!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely awesome!!!! I was on my own so could manage any videos but i managed these stills on my phone as i packed up. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26037-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26036-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26035-/ Danzul90
  7. Hi folks, i have tried to set my profile picture but if i use a pic from my gallery it seems to zoom in and not get any thing i want on the frame, and if i try and upload one it says the file is too bug. Other than typing (badly) i no nothing else about computers. Is there something i am doing wrong? Thanks, Danzul90
  8. I have started having issues starting the car once it is hot. As in it wont start! At all! I noticed it was bogging down at high speed but have not tuned this out yet as when i bought it back in it would not start. Also i have had to shorten the pull cord as it snapped so could this stop it starting when hot? I don't think it is because it still starts when cold, and in the past when re-starting the car i have only needed to put tension on the cord for it to start when hot. Now i'm not sure if it is connected but the car seem to cut out when it is nearly empty on fuel. there is still fuel in the tank but previously it would suck the tank dry before stopping. Is it possible it is overheating and cutting out as a result? it was run with out the shell on when this was happening so i don't think it is overheating but i don't have a temp gauge. Sorry for all the questions but i am having soo much fun with it i just want to keep playing and understand the car!! Hope some one can help me, i have managed to confuse my self with the tuning side as when the car is set to factory setting it simply wont run so i almost have to guess the setting then adjust accordingly. Many thanks. Danzul90
  9. Snapped the spring, and the cord on the pull start, rebuilt it twice then thrashed it :hahadance:
  10. Ok so what effect will it have on my car then? Does this mean i can tune the car via the Transmitter to a degree? I don't have a manual so i am here begging....
  11. I'm going to put the standard springs back on. compared to all my springs they are the hardest but thunder tiger i think list them as medium. Using the slicks i will then change the fronts and rears to soft then back untill i can suss which is the best set up for me. if that makes sense? Is there a huge difference in the way people set there cars up or is it just down to personal preference and what works best for you and your driving style?
  12. I don't have any way of identifying spring rates but i have 3 sets of springs. I currently have what is effectively super soft on the front and soft on the rear. I have a spare set of what are probably medium/hard. Now that i have found some where relatively open i think my springs may be too soft. What do people generally find the best for tarmac? I am really struggling to find grip! It under-steers tremendously when i try to be smooth but it tends to let the back step out at high speeds. Anything other than the smoothest of smooth and it spins out completely. Now i have to bear in mind that the car was run on rally type tires for a few tanks. by the time i had switched to slicks the pull start broke and put an end to play. i have to put some of the lack of grip down to the tires but i fear things will improve only slightly with slicks.
  13. it may be worth checking the exhaust. we had a hilux come i with a sudden lack of power, it didnt sound exhaust related but the turbo was blamed untill a replacement unit was replaced and still the problem existed. in the end it did honestly turn out to the rear silencer. i dont know whether it was blowing or blocked however. Also do Vtecs have EGR valve? i would expect some smoke from the exhaust though if this was blocked or sooted up. and the lack in power to be constant not intermittant. What is your normal driving like, do you drive it gently like your after economy? Does it only get short journeys? if so it may just want ragging to clear it out, failing that you can clean the EGR valve out. I was made redundant before i could pass my aprenticeship so maybe some one with more experience can point out if i am on the wrong track but past this i can only advise getting a mechanic to drive it, if its easier you could get your passenger to record a video on their phone the next time it happens for you to show to a garage.
  14. This might be an odd question for most people but i don't have a clue what two of them do. i have four knobs which twist, ST-Trim which i know about TH-Trim which i also know , how ever above these two are two more knobs and TH.ATV is written between the two of them, both seem to effect the throttle body in some way. Could some one please enlighten me, Thanks, Danzul90
  15. Does any one know whether the thunder tiger tomohawk vx moves to RWD in second gear? I ask because it spins out sooooo easy in a straight line at high speed in its second gear. Its almost as though the gear change is too violent or there is such a sudden increase in power to the rear wheels that it looses traction. Any ideas , help or suggestions are greatly appreciated as its really starting to bug me. I am going to get a bigger rear wing to help with rear down force, also i may try increasing pre-load on the rear or softening the rear up a little in an attempt to find more rear grip. Many thanks, Danzul90
  16. Good example, i agree with you. It is easy to forget about others and see thier point of view, i my self am guilty of this.
  17. To be fair, its not like i am doing it every day at awkward hours. Normally about two o'clock in the after noon, once, sometimes twice a week and only ever a tank full. If i am having a proper play then its down the local skate park or on the bmx track. I get on with the neighbors but literaly less than 100m up the road is a building site expanding the estate which can sometimes cause just as much noise! It is only the one neighbor who has been moaning. I'll just check he is at work before i strike it up in future. I certainly don't want arguments lol
  18. Then i may just have to say screw it and carry on regardless.
  19. Who hear runs there nitro cars outside their house? and out of those people who gets complaints from the neighbors? lol I am getting loads lately, so am looking for a quiet stretch of country lane or similar for my car! OR does any one have a silencer for their car? Danzul90
  20. Awesome thread! saved me buying a new one! Top effort thanks!
  21. No worries, they look to be the best so far and more reasonably priced as well, now to convince the wife.... Thanks for your help fella!
  22. That sounds very reassuring, in which case yes could you send the link, thanks. I am not too sure, it will be what ever came with the car to start with, it says ace on the top but past that i honestly don't have a clue. And when i google 'thunder tiger tomohawk vx servo' all i can find are servo horns not the actual servo.
  23. Is that one waterproof? I am not too concerned about having a higher torque servo, just a waterproof one that is of no less torque than the current ones. Hope that makes sense and doesn't seem daft. Thanks. Danzul90
  24. Does any one have any experience with these servos? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/alturn-usa-standard-deluxe-ball-bearing-waterproof-servo/rc-car-products/371888 Also would any one be able to tell me if the will be suitable for my car? (thunder tiger tomohawk VX) It mentions speed and torque figures in the specs and description, i just dont want to buy something that wont be good enough or at least the equivalent of what i already have. Many thanks, Danzul90
