  1. Some great battery deals on hobbyking.com at the mo. Shame I don't need anymore
  2. Are they straight fit for a firestorm? If so I'll have them.
  3. Are you including servo as a roller? Very interested
  4. Does anyone have a roller for sale? looking to build a 2nd car up for my son
  5. The first line says "home sprayed" so I'm guessing they did it themselves
  6. Ezrun Sc8 speedo and a 4000kv motor work great on 2 and 3s lipo
  7. We were all there once and some never had the net, so it's nice to be able to help
  8. Sorry I was referring to the screw thread inside the turnbuckle, it is two ball cups, one either end with a grubscrew connecting them.
  9. Yeah, but I'd unscrew it fully first and just check the length of the thread as it's quite short. One full turn should give you the adjustment you need, if you need any more you might need to swap the screw inside to a longer one first.
  10. You can pop off that turnbuckle (the connecting rod between the horn and servo saver arm) and lengthen it slightly that will compensate for the offset
  11. When you put it back in and centralised it did you have it powered up and the trim set to central on the tranny before fitting the horn? It's not uncommon for the horn to be a couple of degrees of tdc, the trim on the tranny should only need a little tweeks to bring it back, I don't use the Hpi tranny on mine but use it on my sons maverick no problem
  12. Bare in mind it's -5c outside, plastic gets brittle. I've killed many servos over my years, normally the gears strip before the spline so I'd definitely say it has been loose from day one to allow it to strip.
  13. Out of interest. How tight are the servo savers set on the steering assembly?
  14. I'd say set them all to low, drag brake possibly med, eventually you will want the drag brake off and start power on full. I like the reverse on low, but that's 25yr of racing without reverse so it's only ever used for getting "unstuck" from a situation
  15. I'd still say get some spur gears, I've killed mine through a heavy nose landing causing the motor to slip and the gears to be out of mesh which slowly kills them over the run, a correctly mesh drive would take months to wear out even with HUGE power. It all depends on how you drive and where, I've broken the steering arm twice but never popped a shock cup or lost a dog bone (yet) Get them in some open space with few obstacles until they get used to controlling them, steering when the car is coming towards you is normally what catches newbys out ?. Nothing is indestructible, they are very strong though comparer to others. Drive them lick they're stolen, but you still want to get away and make it to the border! ?
  16. They are ordinary lipos, just a higher branding than the normal turnigy lipo
  17. I do but it's not as much as if I had the 3s equivalent of my 2s nanotech
  18. Motors have a limit of what current(amps) they can pull. Years ago batteries could never supply enough and everything ran hot and run times were awful. As long as a battery can supply more than a motor can maximum pull then buying an "overkill" battery simply increases run time. So it's a bang for buck matter of paying a little more money for a lot more battery. Not all batteries are equal even if the specs on paper are the same. I have a floureon 3s and it's not alot faster than the nanotech
  19. This is the 5300 version of mine(6000) https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-5300mah-2s2p-50-100c-hardcase-lipo-pack.html This will have loads of grunt, my 6000 65-130c is bonkers. My first ever cells were 1300scr nicads!
  20. List looks good, charger is very good. Can't advise on lipos as mine are turnigy nanotech and they are alot more unless hobbyking are doing an offer as I got mine for £27 each
  21. I certainly wouldn't be buying any extra NiMh batteries
  22. 20+ years of stick controls means I can't use wheel, I swapped for a core code stick setup as it has loads of setup functions. Turn the punch down on the throttle and 2wd won't be an issue for them till they get used to it They will soon get used to them if them aren't used to stick, my 4yr uses my firestorm wheel on his 1/18 lipo brushed truck
  23. Deffo, that's how I spent my youth with rc and this was pre Internet so parts were hard to get. 3 brushed firestorms, a few lipos, turns theirs down and get a few spar spur gears and keep the motor mount screws tight as that is how I've killed mine several times as the motors slip after heavy nose ends and then the gears just chew up and game over! Only other thing I've broken are the steering arms hitting solid objects or heavy bad landings ie 9million cartwheels (no exaggeration)
