  1. New shock and diff oils ordered for the Hyper. Going to be interesting to see what difference the diff oils will make to how the buggy handles.

Its for a brushless Hyper 7. 5k,7k,3k respectively for the diffs and 55 front 45 rear for the dampers.

Ok, mines a H7 BL conversion too. Guess that's 3k in the rear? I'm changing shock oil again now and going for 50wt F & R and tune from there. Christ knows what was in there before, looked like previous owner had used castrol gtx!

Yea 3k in the rear diff. From the reading I did 5-7-3 is a good starting point. The dampers on mine had what smelled like brake fluid and were just under half full! Previous owner syndrome strikes again lol

  2. The lead to allow me to run batts in series arrived today so tried the Hyper on 4s. Pretty damn brutal on a 17t pinion
  3. Job lot of Hyper 7 nitro parts left over from my brushless conversion. The engine did run previously but has been taken apart and appears to have some bits missing so it is being sold as spares or repair only as i cant guarantee it. It turns over ok and the pullstart is fairly new as far as I remember. So what you see is what you get basically however there are some small bits that aren't pictured that I will throw in too. £30 inc postage for the lot.
  4. Nice one mate thank you. So this one should work fine with my Quicrun esc then? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121941452016?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  5. Are all Hobbywing program cards the same or do they differ between ezrun/xerun/quicrun ESC's? I am having trouble locating one that is specific to Quicrun ESC's.
  6. Two out of three parts for my brushless Hyper 7 have arrived now, just waiting for the ESC. Hehehehe getting excited now :)

      Is it being delivered today??

Waiting on UPS myself, parcel was in Tamworth two hours ago.....

      hopefully tomorrow fingers crossed

  7. My problem turned out to be just the piston ring worn out. New ring and piston and it fired second pull.
  8. Recommend me a brushless combo for my hyper 7 conversion please. Got a budget of £150 ish and it will be 99% running on grass. ta Mike
  9. Thanks for the reply. Lucky I have found the locating pin on the bench where i took the ring off the piston so thankfully it isnt rolling around the crankcase. Measuring the old ring the gap is about .27mm so it is at the end of its life anyway. I hadnt noticed any performance drop but the idle seemed a little up and down at times and its always been run on 25:1 as far as i can remember. Ive got a piston kit on the way with a couple of spare rings so it should be back together by the end of the week.
  10. Ok i have an update on this. I found that I could only get it to start with the exhaust removed, so I started it up and then bolted the exhaust back up. First couple of times I tried this the engine revs just dropped and it died. I eventually managed to get it to idle with the exhaust on and i would rev up ok as normal but if I stopped the engine the tried to restart it if would not even attempt to fire at all. So, this morning I removed the head and piston to inspect them (again). Again I couldnt see anything wrong with them but what I did find is that the little locating pin in the piston has vanished and the ring had rotated round slightly. Would this be preventing the engine from firing up with the exhaust on? It does feel down on compression but if it was that low that it wont even start would it run by taking the exhaust off?
  11. Took my baja out today, ran fine until fuel ran out. Refueled and would not start, not even attempting to. This is what i tried to get it to go plug swapped twice (good spark on both) cleaned muck off flywheel and re-gapped coil fuel getting through ok compression ok removed head and inspected head and piston. both perfect removed carb, cleaned filters, replaced gaskets None of the above made any difference whatsoever. At this point I thought the exhaust might be blocked due to an earlier roll over but it did run for 15 minutes after the roll. Took it off, flushed it through, poked some wire through it but nothing came out. Put it back on and nothing. Took it back off and out of interest tried to start it without the exhaust on and it fired second pull. Ok, so exhaust must have summat in it so fitted the Thor pipe it came with, tried to start it and back to square one. No start. This one has me totally baffled and if anyone has any suggestion id love to hear it.
  12. Im sure my baja hates me lol. Ive used it three times this week and this is what it has broken up to today

    steel spur and pinion destroyed

snapped the end off clutch bell

    clutch bearings fell apart

Etronix transmitter gives up the ghost on me

rear shock got stuck in fully compressed position which caused car to roll and snap spark plug

Its also becoming hard to start when cold for no reason at all. God talk about high maintenance lol

I seen the grab handel after I posted in ur sig pic....musts been a big whack....I was gonna go meatl spur but imo u need a weak link in the chain.....and if the gt3 rx takes a whack it`ll loose range.....there very delicate apparently....or it could b interference....

to be honest the gt3 played up from the day it was delivered, as did my uncles baja with the same radio gear. Both in exactly the same place though oddly enough.

      ahh.....could b what u said then....

  13. Are you sure it isnt the air being generated by the flywheel? I had that happen to me when I got my first Baja and thought the zorst was blowing.
  14. I made my own for my Baja. Sod paying £8 plus for premade ones. I got some sheet rubber from Ebay, knocked up some card templates, trimmed and tweaked here and there, cut them out of the rubber and zip tied them on. That was about 9 months ago and they are still good as new and no crap wrapped around the driveshaft. Think the rubber was about a fiver for an A4 size piece and you could get 3-4 sets out of one sheet.
  15. Have you had the piston off the con rod yet? The reason I ask is I have seen two cases now of engine failure with the exact same damage and both times it was the the wrist bearing under the piston that had disintegrated and got sucked up into the combustion chamber.
  16. One I can certainly recommend is to wrap a couple of layers of gaffa tape around the wheel extenders on the rear, only on the part where the drive pin goes through though. Reason being the drive pins are notorious for falling out when the allen bolt works loose so the gaffa tape will stop the pin falling out even if the bolt backs out. A lost drive pin can ruin a days bashing as I have discovered lol.
  17. I get what you are saying about not wanting to go too lean with it. If your plug is black it is too rich so I would either clean or replace the plug. The smallest pinch on the needle can make a big difference so go slow and steady with the tuning. If the revs start to rise dramatically at idle then you are too lean.
  18. This sounds to me like it is too rich on the bottom end. While it is idling it is overloading the cylinder with fuel which it cant burn off at idle. When you gun it off the line, it takes a few seconds to burn off the extra fuel. Once it has cleared its throat so to speak and the extra fuel has gone it will suddenly take off like a rocket hence why it probably seems like it it shifting into a second gear.
  19. I was trying to work this out, id say between 7-8 gallons give or take a gallon
  20. Ok I have found where the bits in the chamber came from Took the piston off the conrod and the remains of the bearing fell out.
