  1. Is this goodrington way? dint know the P&P was no longer in usem I mentioned a spot near the one i recently posted for the smooth surface cars as its a large tarmac carpark in the estate itself (best used at weekends and evenings/very early mornings)
  2. Im seriously thinking of gettiing a second xs myself but in kit form this time around - sounds like this dark damp corner of the forum is gonna see some fresh light soon
  3. Thats a cute puppy, but the ball next to it looks scary as hell I like the big yellow monster truck in the background too
  4. Seeing a beach bash posted in another thread recently reminded me to point out that Torbay has a good number of beaches suitable for RC use, plus if you want to do stupidly high jumps, theres always Berry Head
  5. Im new to all things Leccy RC too and I got this charger too - very easy to use for a newbie, although a little pricey at nr
  6. Sorry for delay in posting this, been away for the weekend - picture as promised Google Maps https://maps.google.co.uk/?ll=50.485446,-3.564999&spn=0.000014,0.009645&t=h&z=17&layer=c&cbll=50.485504,-3.564887&panoid=KL-q0qzgLIe1BClJzTboLw&cbp=12,134.17,,0,10.81
  7. what benefit should I get by removal of slop?
  8. Spotted another bash spot, is essentially rough ground with short scrubby field grass n weeds with larger tufts and general roughness, right by a number of main roads (just by Scotts bridge, at entrance to edgonswell business park. I don't see issue with nitro either. Parking for cars nearby (probably easier during weekends) I'll post a pic sometime when im not mobile.
  9. so its short course wheels on a 'buggy' - thats not at all confusing I did note the short course looking wheel measurements on the M$ site (in the parts list for the model) but wanted to shop around for other wheels that might fit the kit
  10. ok, cheers for that - I have several leatherman tool type multi tools which ive already used on the savage xs Im assuming the body panels are not painted and that theyre lexan/polycarbonate as per usual for rc models ? BTW - what wheels fit the buggy, ie 12mm hex 17mm etc etc etc
  11. Ive been eyeing up this buggy kit for a while now, i just like the look of it. SO although it comes as a rtr, i like the idea of building from a kit to learn exactly how it all goes together and works (or doesnt ) Simple question that ive yet to find an answer for, what EXACTLY does a person need to build this kit ie tools etc Im assuming regular screwdrivers (flat head and philips) and hex keys (preferably hardened) but what size(s). Also, does it require threadlock? etc etc Dumb question i know, but ive never built a kit before so i dont want to fall at first hurdle by not having appropriate tools Cheers in advance
  12. I was going to go for a one colour job but i felt adventerous Im thinking of doing a camero bodyshell next which will be largely single coloures, maybe a bit of trim detailing etc but not much, now seems a good time to get ne since stock seems to be in... ive gotten a shell spraying bug now enough of painting, heres a question, the wheels, all of them on my savage xs seem a bit sloppy, ive tracked the probelm down to the axels and or hex hubs, the wheels themselves are secure enough as ive tested different wheels and even ones that dont need additional shims. Any suggestions or is this a quirk ive to live with? the parts mentioned are stock btw
  13. Holy crud - im new to RC's but this thread is really interesting - im sure its almost classed as RC Prawn Looking forward to seeing the final product which will be a testament to a labour of love Well done
  14. My new xs GT bodyshell arrived from M$ the other day so I finally got to spray it etc, I know it aint perfect by a long shot, but i dont think its too bad given its the first time ive ever dealt with a RC Bodyshell... Thoughts appreciated (nice ones please )
  15. I looked at slash, i also looked at hippy, now i already have a hippy model (savage xs) which DOES come as a kit but whilst i could get easily get another (and infact get a slightly better version for my efforts) its the same as I already have. I fancy something different. So slash could be the answer but ive not seen any in kit form - i see the building of a kit as something of a learning experience, and for me I think i'll enjoy the building as much as the running. I also dont intend (unlike some appear too) plan on doing jumps off K2 and expect the car to be ok ie im not rough on the cars, well, in comparison anyway, and whilst the xxx may be an older model, that to me just means its a tried and tested/trusted system - and im sure parts shouldnt be too much of an issue. I think im still headed towards the xxx kit so hears a numb nuts question - is it preferable to build the kit with the all the radio gear and electrics ready to go in at the same time? or could i build the kit and fit radio gear, power house/esc as n when i get them? Cheers
  16. Im basically looking for a decent first timers kit - around
  17. i'll be using my curent 5000mah 60 2S lipos which i use on my savage xs (also came with a 4300mah 2S lipo) Water proof/resistant isnt exactly a necessity but a good bonus if i can get it, accidents happen and those puddles are sneaky and will grab your rc if you dont look out Im a bit put off the durangos due to parts availabilty
  18. As per the title im thinking of getting a losi xxx sct kit http://www.modelsport.co.uk/losi-1-10th-xxx-sct-rolling-chassis/rc-car-products/39974 with this servo http://www.modelsport.co.uk/savox-waterproof-high-torque-std-digital-servo/rc-car-products/377022 and this motor esc combo http://www.modelsport.co.uk/m-troniks-g2-pro-esc-and-p2-10.5t-combo/rc-car-products/33278 Before anyone suggests other bits etc, i only buy from UK dealers, saves hasstle and tax (and ive already been stung buying t-bones bumpers from usa) Is this a good first kit for a relative noob? what tools do i need or are they supplied? any advise on upgrades etc please - i know its 2wd and i only want a 2wd, this wont be used for racing, purely as a winter build project and post build bashing. I plan on upgrades as time goes on (and finances allow) Thanks fellas
  19. dont seem to be ANY xs shells to be had anywhere - im happy to be corrected ie let me know if anyone knows of any unpainted in-stock shells. Even fleabay draws a blank lest i buy a whole kit, i suppose
  20. in terms of the cooler on the motor, its a tight squeeze, ive seen folks modify the motor housing section by opening out the vents fully with a dremmel then cover with fine mesh to keep junk out. Your shell looks more squared off than my two - maybe a squirk of camera or even paint job
  21. Does anyone know for sure which bodyshells will fit (even with botching) the HPI Savage XS and its variant? Ive seen on fleabay a truck body for the HPI Wheelie KIng thats advertised as fitting the mini savage but im not sure and was wondering whether any of the good folks on here were aware of other bodyshells that fit. Thanks in advance
  22. Wont 3S cook you motor esc? youve already mention an issue with heat - i use 2s and frankly have no intention to ever use 3s, the repair bill put me off That doesnt look like a stock xs shell, if not what is it please?
  23. OK gents and ladies and those undecided - i was brwsing fleabay (as you do) looking for the illusive xs body shell and came across someone selling wheelieking body shells, as part of the description they say that a wheelieking shell will fit a savage xs with a tiny bit of messing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HPI-wheely-king-mini-gt1-truck-painted-body-shell-orange-fits-savage-xs-if-modd-/280638967137?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item415762cd61 Has anyone tried this? does it fit or is this seller being a twunt n fibbing Im busting to spray a bodyshell for the first time but alas there is at least another months wait (acording to uk HPI and M$) Cheers in advance
