  1. It is......Motor---->Prop Shaft ----> Front and Rear gear boxes. KingPin
  2. Really getting tempted to buy a Kraton,I'm following this thread with interest.....mmmmm...... KingPin
  3. I really don't know now...... Any thoughts about this? I know it's at the cheaper end, but at least it will give me a taste of 1/8 without spending too much initially... Absima Torch E 4WD Brushless Truggy 1:8 / Truck T
  4. Never really gave Kyosho a thought to be honest.......mmmmmmmm KingPin
  5. Think its time to let ZombieBite have his thread back, this is going nowhere. KingPin
  6. Great stuff! keep us posted as to how you get on. KingPin
  7. No, I'm not scared of my mobile phone because it's a Lithium Ion battery, not Lipo, which is a lower voltage and much lower discharge rate than ANY rc battery. Why WOULDNT you want the extra security of a lipo sack? Let's drive a car with out using the seat belts because I've never had an accident for the last five years....... KingPin
  8. Not convinced, i recommend ALWAYS charging in a lipo sack and store your packs at storage charge in a metal tin. For a small outlay of a few quid, why take a chance? KingPin
  9. Looking at getting rtr and sticking with stock esc/motor till it needs replacing. I'm not into silly jumps, as this hobby is expensive enough already lol! Not sure if there is any other 1/8 um overlooking....... I did nearly go with Thunder Tiger, i know the parts support is poor but I've heard the trucks are solid. Decisions Decisions! Cheers KingPin
  10. Hi, ive been looking into getting myself a 1/8 Elec off roader for ages now. Got loads of 1/10 stuff but want a bit more speed and the bigger size would also be a bonus. Been looking at the Hong Nur Ultra LXE and the Thunder Tiger ST4-G3 but both have been removed from the Modelsport site. So ive changed my focus to the Hoboa Hyper SSE which looks like it will do the job just fine.... Any views would be great. (I'm not after a Hyper7 or other nitro/elec conversion....Thanks! ) Cheers KingPin
  11. Rip off of Ripmax's 1/18th Coyote. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ripmax-coyote-1-18th-truggy-ep/rc-car-products/384323 KingPin
  12. Hey, welcome to the club......from a fellow Derby basher! KingPin
  13. It's there.....FTX6353 Carbon Top Plate. There is no such part as a "carbon spur gear cover". The top plate will still stiffen up the chassis. The hop-up I mentioned are anti roll bars - not roll cage...... KingPin
  14. Whenever I have bought dvds or books as gifts and they have price stickers on,no matter how hard you try, you always get the sticky **** left over......just a small squirt of deodorant does the trick. Any aerosol with a mild solvent will work. Spray - wait 5/10 minutes - wipe! KingPin
  15. You need a programme card to adjust... Punch Setting. Motor Timing. Drag Brake. Brake Sensitivity. and more. For the small price they cost, well worth the purchase! KingPin
  16. Hi mate, welcome to the club. Good to see another Derby lad! KingPin
  17. The mesh definitely looks too tight, try the "paper method" for the correct mesh. I do mine by eye, just so that the spurs teeth "rock" inside the pinion. Is your battery up to the job? If you have low spec lipo, it might not be providing enough power for the motor. This causes cogging on initial take-off. Is your brushless esc set up correctly? If your "punch" is set too high this can have the same effect as the last point. If you have the programming card for the ESC, it's a 2 min job to sort it. Just drop it down a touch. Definitely get your slipper set right though, that's the only problem I have had. Sort that, and you should be good to go! Cheers KingPin
  18. That's gravel for you! Maybe use less throttle when on low-grip surfaces? KingPin
  19. The shocks won't make any difference to the propshaft. You'll only bend the prop in a heavy collision. Even on 3s lipo mine is still holding up well..... You might need to re-calibrate your radio gear to get your reverse back. Cheers KingPin
  20. Spare batteries for trannys. Cable ties. Spare Wheel nuts. Temp Gun. Body Clips. Carrier Bags, handy to put a muddy truck in before getting your boot dirty! A few spare common size screws, washers etc. Obviously tools, aliens drivers, hex drivers, screw drivers...... Insulation tape, handy for quick repairs on damaged wiring..... The list is endless really! KingPin
  21. I'm keeping it brushed for now... HPI SC-15WP ESC with a FireBolt motor, Alturn metal geared servo and Hobbyking 2.4ghz reciever. Im going to see how the stock gearing goes before changing pinions, these gearboxs are pretty bulletproof. Cheers KingPin
  22. Here the last pics, the front end was about 15-20mm wider after I had finished this mod, so i fitted some Junfac 13mm hex spacers that i had in my spares. Overall, very pleased and this mod didn't cost me a single penny! Cheers KingPin
