  1. I got a brushed slash off of e bay and then spent the money I saved on a lcg chassis and brushless combo for it. The lcg chassis is the best thing you can do to a slash and I highly recommend it. People moan about less ground clearance with the lcg but it's not been an issue for me. The only thing i ever broke on the stock slash was one rear shock! But as you can see on the internet there are so many upgrades for the slash that parts availability is not a problem.
  2. I have a hobbywing combo in my slash and love it . I ran a cheap etronix set up to start with and then upgraded to the HW and the difference is unreal! the HW is so smooth and very powerfull and well worth the money! Got mine off of ebay for about
  3. Thanks guys, from now on i will chrge my lipos after a run upto 3.8V per cell. Might treat my self to a 3s lipo and look after that one better right from the start! Thanks everyone!
  4. Ive had a look through my set up and its set to cut out at 3.4V per cell so i shouldnt have ever drained them too much, But i do store them at that voltage when im finished. Could that be harmfull to them? Tug, when the LVC on the ESC kicks in my led alarm shows about 3.7V per cell but after a few seconds off of the throttle she will pick up and go like a good un again. im guessing the intial burst of power is trigering the ESC to think the lipo is too low! Cheers again for all the info.
  5. I have one of these alarms on my slash and always stop running when it sounds. since i put a hobbywing combo in the slash im finding that even though i have the LVC alarm and the ESC set tocut off at the same voltage the ESC cut off kicks in before the LVC alarm. Which is best to follow? the ESC or the alarm?
  6. Sorry i might have got my figures a bit wrong. I have not got my alarm set that low but cant remember what its set at and i always stop when the alarm sounds. I never thought of ending a charge manually when i get to 3.8V so i will start doing that from now on. Cheers for the advice.
  7. Im running 2s lipos in my slash and i balance charge them for every run and then run them untill the low voltage alarm kicks in(3.4v per cell i think). After a run i leave them like this as i have no way of discharging them for storage. Am i killing the lipos by never discgarging them? Your thoughts please!
  8. I've put a hobbywing ez run(wp-sc8 4000kv) set up in my slash and really hauls now! Would highly recommend one!
  9. I have just done this to my slash. Got some gold male & female bullet connectors and some wire and soldered it all together. got all the bits off of ebay.
  10. Cheers AJ, thats sorted it! Wish the instructions had said that!
  11. Afternoon all. I have just installed a ezrun setup in my slash and all is good apart from the program card. Ive done what the instructions say but im not able to get any readings from the ESC. Anyone got any idears on what to do?
  12. Cheers guys! best get shopping now!
  13. My old soldering iron has packed up and I'm on the hunt for a new one. What do all you guys use? what sort of temps do you solder at?
  14. I've just got a hobbywing combo. 4000kv with waterproof ESC for
  15. I did exactly what big gaz said. Cheap stock slash 2s lipo=sideways fun. I put a cheap brushless combo(etronix) in when I was ready for upgrade. I've run it for a year like this and love it. I've just got a hobbywing set up for this summer. If you do break anything then replace it with RPM stuff and it becomes strong as a tank. Enjoy!
  16. My boy is getting this for his 5th birthday tomorrow. It's his first proper outdoor rc and thought I would start with 1/18 and work up the scales as he gets older. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ripmax-coyote-1-18th-truggy-ep/rc-car-products/384323
  17. I've had no problems with prolne shells failing on any of my cars. My slash has taken some big licks on skate parks and country parks(my boy even ran over it on his bike) and the pro line shell is not cracked. The paint has flaked off in places but that might be my paint prep not the shell. Some people think they can hit a jump at full speed and put their truck 20ft in the air land on the roof and expect the shell to be fine!
  18. Glad someone started this thread as i was about to. What type of solder do you guys use?
  19. Cheers for the info Bez. The combo is new but since fitting the LCG chassis I can't get the ESC anywhere near the motor. If the wires were long enough I don't think I would want to solder them straight onto the motor. I like to be able to unplug the motor as the the wires run through a hole in the rear shock tower so striping the rear end is made easier!
  20. Evening all, I have just got a hobbywing ezrun brushless combo for my slash to replace my etronix set up. I'm after any advice you can give me as the etronix was plug and play and the hobbywing needs more work to install. First up I need to lengthen the motor wires so am I right in getting some 4mm wire and soldering it to the motor and then put gold connectors on the other end to plug onto the ESC wires? Thanks in advance.
  21. For that money I've just got a waterproof hobbywing ESC and motor from ebay! Everyone seems to rave about the hobbywing wp-sc8 ESC so I'm giving a go!
  22. Ive just got a ripmax coyote for my boys 5th birthday. Its 1/18 so could be used indoors but is made for outdoors. It also has leds which i think he will love. Parts are cheap too! http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ripmax-coyote-1-18th-truggy-ep/rc-car-products/384323
  23. Hi guys, ive just got a coyote for my boy when he turns 5 in january. Anyone else had one of these? Whats the run time like? Any issues i should know about? Cheers. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ripmax-coyote-1-18th-truggy-ep/rc-car-products/384323
