  1. This is my TE1A, looking a bit worse for wear now, but still running strong after 9 years of service. The yellow rubber band on the driving wheel is there to drive it with the flywheel. Rubber bands work the same as the Mamod recommended band, but a lot cheaper! The paint is starting to peel as the heat gets to it unfortunately. But the model has no leaks and I haven't had to replace anything in the 9 years I've owned it. Here is some pics:
  2. The engines aren't very powerful, however the bigger static models can run a lot of tools with the right gearing (pulley size). But obviously the bigger the model, the more expensive it is. This should be very powerful http://www.mamod.co.uk/shop-categories/sp8-fuel-tablet/ Or gas fired http://www.mamod.co.uk/shop-categories/sp8-gas-fired/ I will post some pictures of mine in a bit Edit: Apparantly this is the strongest to date http://www.mamod.co.uk/shop-categories/sp6-sleeve-valve-engine/
  3. I just found a small dent in the side of a softcase 3S lipo, but no puncture. The blue outer covering is ripped, and the silver foil around the cell is dented, but somehow not punctured. This can't be used again right? I am so lucky it didn't puncture on impact :(

I've had a few like that, I just kept a close eye on it when charging and didn't worry about it in the model... I'm not as bothered about my model going up in flames in the middle of a field as I am my bedroom lol.

Ok thats good news, just ordered another 2200mah 2 days ago :)

  4. First flight with the Edge, 5 mins in, first prop breaks. Replaced it, then it hit the ground on takeoff (It was a hand launch.) 2nd prop broken. Didn't bring the others. Not ideal, but first 5 mins were good.

  7. I have just recieved HK Edge 540, with a brushless outrunner, and the bell housing (including the prop shaft) moves forward from the stator. Upon searching I find that an C-Clip should be behind the housing on the shaft. However there wasn't one when I recieved it. Should it have a C-Clip, or is it normal?

not normal buddy, the motors shaft needs to be held in place on outrunners, so the end of shaft usually has a notch cut and an E/C-clip is used to secure shaft from moving away from stator.

also check that the clip has not worked loose when factory installed and is on the inside of the bell housing, just slip the bell away from the stator gentley , have a quick peek for clip, then place bell back into place.

Didn't think it was normal, after reading around. I will have a look now for the clip, but I don't have any spare! Why do you always have what you don't need... Thanks for the info tho :)

  8. A very Merry Christmas to everyone. And welcome the HK Edge 540 to the RC family!

  11. I have a DX6i, great transmitter, only gone wrong once, sent it away and came back a week later all fixed for free. Good range, and reasonably cheap for the quality of it.
  12. Is the Blitz gear cover and motor mount available still?
  13. C'mon Feedtheinferno, we want to see this!

I just got the AXN, built it up last night. Build wise I'm impressed, seems pretty solid! There's a small thread in the Plane section :)

  15. FTX Viper? Brushed is well in budget, and brushless isn't much over.
  16. Blitz is a very good choice, however I have been looking for a while to get an underbody for mine. I know you can get them from somewhere in the UK, cant remember it tho...
  17. AXN Floater, or Walrus? Both PNF, and around same price...

  18. Anyone got any NIMH batteries for sale? Need them ASAP :)

  22. My setup is on 2s and 3s, gets a quite warm, but not bad at all. I just emailed RW Racing to make me 4 5mm pinions with 48dp pitch. Hope this helps
