I think if I intend to use it then a TRX-4 is the best option? My scx-10 with the defender body was hard work at times and broke a lot, if I want to look at it the Gelande is a better option? Does the TRX-4 only come in red, grey or a limited edition green? I see there is a clear body available.

I thought this may be the answer. How would you say it compares compared to a scx-10 in terms of capability?

Hi I've been considering another scale Defender after regrettably selling my scx-10 I have been looking at a rc4wd gelande as It was more suited to a scale defender how do these compare?

no love for the Wraith?

So as some of you will be aware from my previous post not so long after selling my Axial scx-10 Land rover D90 build I've started to regret it and have began to look again at buying a G2 to build another Defender. Now a spanner has been thrown in the works after a very good friend of mine has offered me his Axial wraith Which he bought around 18 moths ago and hasn't used for very long at all, literally i bet he hasn't ran a fully charged battery flat! I'm tempted to get The Wraith mainly to see if its a flash in the pan again and to see if I'm just needing to scratch an itch or if ill actually stick to the hobby if i spent out on a G2. I know the Wraith will be a more capable crawler than my previous scx-10 build and the possible G2 I'm looking to purchase however i love the detail and scale looks of the defender ( its literally what drew me into the hobby to begin) this maybe a positive in the sense if its more practical for the intended use then i may enjoy using it. I feel i spent a lot on my scx-10 and i lost a lot of that when i sold it, what up grades would be essential on the Wraith or is it best to replace when required? I notice there are different versions of the Wraith so i need to check which one my friend has, did they all come with the light pack? i know he bought it in kit for as he likes building and detailing them and i think that is pretty much the only reason he got it. Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated, also what would you say is a fair price its RTR but only on 27mhz without a battery?

OK a bit of a odd ball here but whats peoples opinions on the Axial Wraith? I have been offered one from a very good friend that i know purchased it brand new approximately 18 months ago and genuinely hasn't used it for more than 20 min's. I'm tempted to get it if its the right money too see if I'm having another faze and maybe look at selling it on in the future to fund a Gelande Defender build if i decided it wasn't a itch that just needed scratching ?

That's fantastic advice mate thanks. To be honest I think you have hit the nail on the head as all I would really want to do is some scale crawling with the odd photographic scenes shall we say, I just enjoyed the scale detail of the defender. The RC4wd g2 is rather expensive with no running gear I guess but overall yes probably won't cost as much as my scx 10 did. Do the g2 kits need much out of the box in terms of improvement? thanks.

These were my issues before and I ended up weighting wheels and fitting beef tubes. I was forever trying to get the tyres to look in scale with the body, I couldn't even fit the interior as I got fed up of hacking away at it.

So a gelande is a better chassis? or just better suited to a defender body? I'm annoyed really as i lost alot of money on my scx10 I had pretty much every upgrade I think I could get so don't want to be doing all that again. What's opinions on the 1/18 RC4wd?

So after regrettably selling my Axial scx 10 defender build a few months ago I'm considering getting another model. Id probably be looking to purchase something with the intention of another defender build, if that was the case what would you recommend? I felt the Axial wasn't particularly well suited for the RC4wd body so I immediately thought about the gelande but I believe these are pricey and not as well built? what's the Vaterra Ascender like I'm comparison?

Just looking at what paints I require and I'm confused as in the list some colours referred to twice for example TS-8 and (x-7)? What's the best way to go about painting? Brush the smaller items and spray the larger ones using aerosol?

She bought it as it's the closest she could get to my r6 bless her so she wanted me to do it blue although the red/white colour scheme on the box which is the original colour Im quite fond of so may do that colour scheme. Do you guys tend to brush paint them or do you use a mini air gun etc?

So for one of my birthday presents in September my wife bought me a Tamiya Yamaha R1 to build, I haven't started it yet as I have done a mere few years ago and they were all rushed and done poorly. I want to take my time and do this one properly, maybe even get into doing a few. Can anyone help advise me where to being, do I paint the parts first whilst still on the parts tree's? What's the best way to approach it and is there anything you would advise me to purchase. Thanks.
