  1. Ordered a couple of Bangood specials and some voltz from wheelspin to get me going. Dbxl should be here tomorrow from modelsport. URUAV GRAPHENE 4S 14.8V 6000mAh 100C Lipo Battery XT60 https://banggood.onelink.me/zMT7/glwzv3t3 Will swap the plugs from xt60s though. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/voltz-5000mah-hard-case-148v-50c-lipo-stick-pack-ec5-446576
  2. Hi all, Got a dbxl on order and am now looking at batteries? what do you guys use? Cheers in advance. I’ve usually used hobby king for batteries in the past and have found these https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-rapid-5500mah-4s2p-140c-hardcase-lipo-battery-pack-w-xt90-connector-roar-approved.html?queryID=d2f5daad481e8012028fb0b84588fa83&objectID=85640&indexName=hbk_live_products_analytics
  3. Will I need a temperature gun? Any recommendations?
  4. I don't think I've ever not manage to break a new RC in the first outing. Losi Mini 8 - caught a kerb on its first outing. Broke the front suspension arm. Hpi Firestorm MT and ST crashed into each other within 5 minutes of being run. Both broke front suspension arms. Hpi mini recon. Broke shock on first outing. Maverick Ion. Broke suspension tower that holds on the shell - first outing Not put me off yet though.
  5. Hhmm. I'll check the instructions. It's all in the section on breaking in. It might be in two sections then. Thanks for the tip on the exhaust. I just took it up to the big car park at the end of the Humber Bridge to do the runin. Seemed to go ok. Got 2 tanks through. Got a good sound and a low enough idle I think. I didn't have the shell with me because it said about turning the thingy qtr turns until you get a stall. Anyway, on a run I caught a repair in the tarmac with a lip and flipped it. Popped the exhaust off, popped a shock and chipped one of the cooling fins. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  6. Today I had a go at getting it running. Had charged the glow starter before hand. Marked BDC on the flywheel. Few drops of fuel on the air filter. Primed the engine with the pull start with the throttle. Switched transmitter on. Switched receiver on. Plugged on glow charger. Pulled starter about 5 or 6 times and it blooming started. I was expecting hours of head scratching and scouring the forum for tips. Couldn't work out how to stop it again so I just pinched the fuel line. Was going to start running in but the instructions say to run the car up and down in a straight line to full throttle and I haven't got the space at home. So far all good. 7. Thanks nitro. I've just been reading the breaking in sticky and have seen the hairdryer tip. I'll stick a tank through it tomorrow I think. I want my lads to have a crack at it as well so I'll do a tank myself so I know what's what and then get them to do a couple of tanks each.
  8. Thanks guys. Another quick question. Do I have to run them one after the other or can I do it over a few days as time permits?
  9. Hi all. I bought my first Nitro last week. A thunder tiger ts4n scooby. The instructions tell me to run 5 tanks through it. How long will that take? I'm guessing 20 mins a tank! Am I in the right ball park? Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  10. Check the mini section. There's a big thread about making an ion brushless by jtheg
  11. The wrong size grub screws for the drive shaft on my Mini8.
  12. Covered the broken bit on my lads maverick ion in araldite as a temporary holiday fix. Hopefully it will last as I don't want to buy another one. This is the second one he's broken and at 13quid each he's running out of inheritance.
  13. Genius if it works. Will try it shortly, thanks Edit: they are too long to allow the drift shaft to rotate. At least I can measure them and order some online though.
  14. So tempted but lack of funds at the mo. Could collect as I'm a brummie too. GLWS
  15. Blimey, can't believe it's been over a year. Not been using the cars over winter but we've just gone on a short break upto Hornsea so I've packed up the m8 and the kids mini recon and ion. Charger is running nearly 24/7 charging batteries lol. I've found though that after a particularly hard bash a couple of days ago I was running on 2wd and I have grub screws missing. I've been looking online for replacements but the mini 8ight hardware kit is out of stock everywhere and I don't know what size I need. Does anyone know what size I need?
  16. I've just found that my mini 8 is running 2wd and I have missing grub screws. I don't have spares. Does anyone know what size I need and where to get them from? Cheers Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk
  17. JT, how are the hobbyking shocks working out? Need to replace the ones on my lads. Although I may take a punt on the mastadon stuff you linked. Dogbones and shocks.
  18. I got a tbone for the Recon. The screws holding it on worked loose. I will (at some point) replace with longer screws and put a nut on them.
  19. Bought some Metallic purple spray and sprayed my first shell. Gave it 2 coats but think I'll get some black aswell and give it a third.
  20. Broken dogbone here aswell. The smile on my lads face as we ragged it up and down the street tonight was cool. We were drag racing up and down with our Hobao H2. Even with 3 wheel drive it was flying.
  21. I changed the servo in ours but I didn't realise at the time it wasn't attached to the esc/receiver (doh). But it was only a few dollars extra and now I have a spare.
  22. I got this and it's in my lads Ion. - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=20993 I've just put one of my 2s Lipos into it and it's backflipping.
  23. Upgrade to brushless. The 1/18th scale motor and esc combo from hobbyking isn't massively expensive. You will need a receiver though as you will probably need to remove the combine esc/receiver to make room. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 4 Beta
