  1. Hi Top experts. I ave a few ques regarding tuning ( I have searched on here but can't find the answers so please forgive). Status. Hyper 21 engine glow plug fastrax plat no.4 medium. Fuel opti rtr 20% ( I know not recommended) Currently got 2 + ltrs of fuel thru it. Breaking in as per manual ( idle first tank, slow fig 8s, gettin faster etc). Needles at factory settings richer than R. Branson and spitting fuel at idle like mad. Temps running in 200 f max at plug head, loads a smoke and blubbery as. Ran up to a stable temp and started to Lean Hsn ( car really picks up at WOT) with a lot of smoke. Leaned LSN and adjusted idle still unburnt fuel at idle and acceleration is slow, if punched throttle stalls from idle and looks like it is loading up with fuel at idle. Did a few WOT 2 -3sec bursts ( to scared to go longer). Also at 4-5sec getting hesitation, loss of power? LEAN? First issue temp went high 290f ?????. Richened HSN. Temp still high at WOT. Finished for the day As couldn't see in dark. Then had trouble starting it this am after cleaning and setting up brakes etc. Fiddled with screws back to factory settings set idle gap, wouldn't start. Eventually got it going by using a bit of throttle trim. Don't understand why temp was so high when indications are running Rich, seen less smoke when burning tyres? Do I need to get a different glow plug to run cooler? Can someone explain hot, medium and cold to me on the plugs. Should I run a diff fuel as almost out anyway. Can you be lean on HSN and rich on LSN? Why do I need to trim the throttle to get it to start and not be able to get it going with the correct idle gap. Any help greatly appreciated, lovin the hobby though a little frustrating.
  2. Well done frustrating as f..... When they don't go. I had to set back to factory settings after fiddling too much but didn't notice the MSN was turning when I was setting the LSN until it was to late... this caused no end of trouble till I went back to the shop with it and Rob sorted it out. Can't say how appreciative of having a decent LHS nearby I am. Could have got the hyper cheaper online but then I would have had hours of trial and error to get it back to the right position. Rob got it done quick smart. Just been tearing up the grass this afternoon and on my 9th tank. These things fly. Lovin it just need to find somewhere with jumps. Keep at it Miles it is worth it in the end.
  3. I got the TQ2 and have been breaking it in (on tank 7) just starting to get up to full throttle (WOT, listen to me with the lingo) and man do you need some space even for short bursts. Lovin it. Scares the crap out of my daughter but she is game to give it a go.
  4. Hi Noob myself and still breaking in a Hyper 7 TQ2. Best advice I can give is patience, I got over zealous and started twiddling and got it all wrong. Once you are at factory settings leave them well alone and the only thing you should need to adjust is the idle gap. I have got through 4 tanks and it still takes a bit of starting but warming the engine relly helps when new. My usual starting issues are flooding and good charge on glow starter. If frustrated Deep breath, cup of tea or stronger (I prefer stronger) watch another vid (squirrel is good) and try again.
  5. Started to break in the Hyper 7TQ2? Sounds rough but freeing up after 4 tanks.
  6. 44 and just started RC for first time. Who cares at least I can afford to fix it when I wrapped round a tree!
  7. What software are you using to edit?
  8. Very nice... Liked the angles and camera work. Lot of work I suspect.
  9. I got a Hyper 7 TQ 2 RTR and bought my daughter a mini recon which she loves....(The dog isnt though). Spent loads of time researching (HPI stuff mainly) never thought of Hyper 7 until the local model shop stuck it on the counter and it was an offer I couldnt refuse for the pair plus extras. As cheap as the net but with a bit more help. Not even started it yet. Roll on wednesday!!! As for brain ticking over..... struggling with some of the tech stuff a little, could do with a glossary of terms on her as well! Still not sure what WOT =?
  10. Is it the spring on the Throttle (Carb slide) preventing the servo moving (rotating) out to activate the brake? Can't quite see if there is on the video if there is any room left on the on the slide for the spring to compact more.
  11. Cheers that is better. Just gotta hunt down a manual for the setup now. I have seen vids on Utube so may have to rely on them and the good people on here for info, seems to be a good flow of advice and stuff.
  12. 2nd that Ben, Just got the parts diagrams and two sheets A4 one on engine one on warrantee. Looked on OFNA site and that is the only manual I can find on there for Hyper 7, same as came in the box.. No set up for TX or RX... NOWT...NADA.....Sweet FA. Any links would be appreciated (dont mean to steal thread Ben, think yah after same info). Feel like a kid a xmass roll on next weds!!!!
  13. Much more succinct than my poor discription. How do you set it to put on full brake?
  14. I believe it is built in. But cannot attest to it as I have yet to break mine in. Cant wait to do it though.... Got the bug big time and only had a little drive of my daughters mini recon. Roll on home time! Think the way to check is turn on the controller then the car, press throttle turn of control see if throttle cuts back to idle. Maybe not have it started though eh!
  15. Great thread chaps. Some good tips in there and well done Wigglefish. Just getting into it myself at an "old age" as my daughter wanted a car so bought her and myself an RTR each. Mid life crisis and trying to hang on to my youth, cheaper than a sports car...... I think, although just had to have hers fixed as a friend wrapped round a lamp post. Desperate to get home and try this stuff out. Good luck with the build.
  16. Great Post. I think it will be helpful as I am about to embark on breaking in a Hyper 7 TQ2 when I get back to the UK. So be prepared for questions in a week or so. Hopefully can post that it was easy, we'll see.
  17. Anyone know of areas a Nitro buggy can be ran in the Petersfield area?
