  1. Ah sorry...no idea about the later ones but I think the options get more confusing. I have an RB5 to build shortly but have only really looked at the older models so far reliving my youth. Do you have any pictures? Might help confirm what you need
  2. Do you mean the original Ultima? I think it runs a 32dp spur, but I just picked up a couple of old stock parts from ebay rather than find a modern equivalent. Not much in it price wise. I also have a later Ultima Pro that uses 48dp so you'll need to check which model you have first. Not sure when they changed
  3. They did. But after checking again I am getting two different orders mixed up - some T-Bone bumpers for my Mini 8ight have at least reached the UK...the FX10 kit was last updated on 3rd April according to USPS, which I haven't had before with orders from the states Will give it until the end of the week then chase
  4. Wish I knew where my kit has got to...apparently only left the states at the end of last week. Reading all the FX10 updates is making me desperate to get started!
  5. Finally took my Mini 8ight out with a lipo battery instead of a stock nimh. Totalled the body shell within 10 minutes but definitely worth it
  6. I've had mine a couple of weeks and it's been running fine. Currently a car of choice when I have a few minutes spare to bash around the garden. Haven't had any breakages yet, but the motor cogs like crazy so I've ordered a Hobbywing 35a ESC to replace the stock one which apparently fixes it. Also bought a lipo to see what they are like but can't charge it as my new charger is already back for repairs after being used for all of two days :-( Also ordered T-Bone Racing front and rear bumpers that are in a couple of other threads here, and will probably pick up the shock mounts that shield the shocks too once I break one. Some very good threads on MSUK recently that have pointed me in the right direction
  7. Good job...but just doesn't look right without the front wheels bending in for that last shot :-) Can't wait until my kit gets here...apart from your bespoke shock mounts is it a fairly easy change?
  8. I picked up a Leopard 9t for my first attempt at brushless as I wasn't sure if I'd destroy the car after reading countless horror stories in forums. So far no breakages, but punch control is as low as it can go too. It's been a better test than sticking a 12t in my Lunchbox...that thing just doesn't stay on it's wheels anymore. Does manage a complete somersault every time if I hit a small tree just right thanks to the springy bumper though Haven't tried 3s yet as only got my first 2s last week...maybe next month
  9. Finally got to take my brushless Sand Viper out into the road to try it out properly. It's only really been going half throttle round a fairly small garden over the last few weeks so I haven't really seen what the difference is between a decent brushed motor and a brushless set up Came back in with a nice big goofy grin on my face and surprisingly a car that was still in one piece! It was also the first time I've used a lipo instead of nimh batteries...there's no going back now :-)
  10. Finally got around to starting to replace my Tamiya connectors with Deans. Had forgotten how much I faff about when soldering...trying to hold 3 things steadily together at the same time...soldering the wrong side of the connector to the wrong wire ...forgetting to put the heatshrink on the wires first (EVERY time!). Now remember why it's been over two decades since I last picked up a soldering iron. Had aimed to do 5 connectors...managed 3 before giving up for the night but at least it's a start...
  11. First hobby grade car was a Kyosho Ultima. Can only really remember it constantly being broken due to a chassis that just bent up at the front any time it hit anything. Could easily be bent back into shape, but it was definitely an annoying flaw as it became weaker and weaker. Told my folks it could be given away for scrap a few years ago as it had lived in their loft for nearly two decades...an ebay replacement just isn't the same as the original now that I've got the RC bug again
  12. I picked one up last week. Managed to charge nimhs and my first lipo, and also set up a charge / discharge cycle over the weekend. Great piece of kit, but you're right - the instructions aren't great. I had to constantly google for details...found this thread nice and helpful http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/144582-core-uac-50-charger-questions/ I use either the HPI battery mentioned above, or some no-brand 4600mah I've had for a while. I get up to about 30mins I think...I'm keen to see how much difference cycling my older batteries will have as I've never done it before.
  13. Oh dear... I may have used a lot of red threadlock on a new set of alloy knuckles & c-hubs for my DF03 as I'd only bought them because I was sick of losing kingpin pieces that wouldn't stay screwed in. Oh well...will be interesting to see what happens when I need to take them apart at some point. Had no problems so far
  14. Noob question, but what's the difference between red & blue threadlock? I just asked for threadlock at my LHS a while ago and was given a bottle of red stuff - didn't realise there were different options
  15. Thanks SteveU30 - just ordered the FX10 suspension mod items as well thanks to your tip. I'd done just about everything else to my lunchbox over the last few months, but the front suspension was doing my head in.
  16. You're right - I spent ages checking shock sizes etc but in the end went for the DF03 ones as someone else mentioned they were roughly the same size and a few mm's doesn't make any difference for bashing. They also come with some screws etc for fitting...I think nearly all of them were fine except for a couple that just didn't fit but were easily swapped out. I had some silver ansmann ones on a Mad Bull before but didn't like the fact they needed spacers instead of being threaded. Not that I've actually changed the settings on the 3racing ones since I fitted them anyways
  17. 3racing ones for the DF03 chassis fit fine. I've got them on my Sand Viper as the DT02 ones always seem to be out of stock Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  18. Thanks guys, Hadn't heard of LC racing before...will have to have a look. Have my heart set on a mini 8ight for now though so will see how that pans out when it gets here
  19. Cheers! And ordered... Looks like your sig would be a good place to start for upgrades
  20. I've been looking to get hold of a Mini 8ight but everywhere seems to be out of stock or on order with supplier...are there any issues with supply or is it just very popular? Not sure whether to back order or just wait until they start to show as in stock
  21. I was thinking about getting one of these to keep my kid away from my other cars (honest - it's not for me )...think this thread has just convinced me. The eyes are fantastic!
  22. Hi all, Been watching the forum for a while but thought it was about time to say hi. I'm another 30-something who has rediscovered rc after years away. Used to bash with some friends way back in the early 90s. Recently refurbished a Tamiya Blazing Star that I've had sat in its box since it was bought about 15 years ago and haven't looked back... Ebay is fast taking all my available cash and my garage is already full of projects and cars...which sounds pretty common from what I can gather. Mostly electric models to bash about with in the garden and hopefully get my son interested when he's old enough for his first Tamiya kit :-)
