  1. I've been trying to place an order all afternoon but the website keeps freezing I've spent a small fortune with them over the last year - definitely a go-to website alongside Modelsport, especially after they started their Mega Specials. Great service on both the website & via ebay...real shame to lose them Is there any info on why they are closing down?
  2. No problem - hope you get it running well. Also, the stock shocks I have are about 70mm at the rear and c.62mm at the front, but for some reason the manual doesn't mention what they should be
  3. Shocks: original red ones in good condition are expensive and sought after, although used ones come up occasionally on the bay. However, both red & gold shocks tended to suffer from the plastic adjustment collars breaking. I've got period Option House gold shocks on my two runners, only because they were usable from some of the donor cars. I'll dig out the shock sizes tomorrow if it will be helpful as you should be able to find an alternative fairly easily if you aren't set on an accurate restoration Ball joints: you mean for the transmission / drive? Which parts in particular? Wheels & tyres: original were 1.9 inch diameter which you can still pick up but modern versions tend to be 2.2 which will give you more choice. Rear has a standard 12mm hex and the front uses 4mm x 8mm bearings - these can be picked up for a few quid from rcbearings.co.uk if you still have the original bushings. Radio deck: I hated this on the original Ultima to the point that I turned it into an Ultima Pro as soon as the different chassis & body was available back in the day. A head on smash invariably pushed the thin metal chassis up and snapped the radio plate - the broken piece I think I can see from the photos is in the same place mine would always snap. They hardly ever turn up for sale as a replacement now. Options include: 1) make up something yourself to repair the one you have / strengthen it in the front half 2) get hold of a metal or carbon fibre version or get one made 3) get a donor Turbo Ultima car, which had the same chassis, but double the thickness of the original so much stronger and not so reliant on the upper deck to keep it rigid It's also worth fitting a full bumper if it is going to be bashed. TeamCRP still sell one version that fits fine, but you'll need slightly longer screws as it isn't countersunk like the original: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HEAVY-DUTY-NYLON-BUMPER-Kyosho-Ultima-Losi-JrX2-Car-Buggy-RC-Team-CRP-3047-/350682109315?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51a6485583 Couple of other things that might be useful: Manual can be downloaded from http://www.competitionx.com/rc-manuals/cars-and-trucks-f-m/kyosho-manuals/ Just download the pdf for Ultima 2wd The seller Vintage-kyosho on ebay has a number of NIP parts for the original. Watch the part numbers as a lot of the parts for the later models may not be a direct fit
  4. Yes - definitely the original Ultima as Si said. If you want any hints / tips or pointers on where to get bits just let me know. Spent most of the last year building up 2-3 Ultima / Ultima Pro models in a fit of nostalgia as it was my first hobby grade car years ago
  5. Ordered a pack so that I have additional spares in case it happens again...nice excuse to buy something
  6. Looking very nice I hadn't realised space was so tight inside...I'm going to struggle as my electrics are never that neat!
  7. Thanks - that's likely. There are a couple of spots where the gravel has worn away where it meets the paving slabs which leaves a 'step'...some of them can be problematic for the mini 8ight if I haven't filled them in before use...will be a bit more careful filling them in and see if it happens again. I did find that moving from the stock ESC to an ezrun 35a made it more of a handful in terms of speed - another reason why it hadn't happened before
  8. Yeah - I've done one side before, but never both at pretty much the same angle! I'm wondering if I hit a wall while reversing, but there is a rear TBR bumper there as well so it's all a bit odd...
  9. Dusted off my Mini 8ight today since I couldn't take it out and noticed that both rear turnbuckles had bent. Hopefully you can make it out from the pic below - apologies for the glare from the flash on my phone Have never seen this before on any other car - anyone got any idea what could have caused it? I don't bash particularly hard...just around a small courtyard garden with gravel and paving slabs. I have done some jumps off a small plastic skateboard ramp but I'm surprised if it would have caused this
  10. How much are you expecting for it? Forum rules indicate a price is required. Cheers
  11. Loving that...wish I had turf to dig up to make my own
  12. Yeah - they still give sweets with each order. Nice touch, but an expensive way to get a sugar fix
  13. TBR bumper for my Savage XS from the US Replacement shocks for my Tamiya Blazing Star from HK No customs notices or RM charges for handling either of them
  14. You've linked to the assembled version but have said in the listing you built it yourself which starts to raise a few eyebrows. Might also help to list it as ARTR as you aren't just selling the kit. The pictures will be costing you, but it isn't clear why you have (very) close ups of certain areas - are you trying to highlight any flaws as this isn't apparent in the listing? Looking at other listings your starting price for bidding is probably a fair selling price but as stated putting that as the starting price will put people off. I'm resigned to losing a large amount of anything I've spent on rc as prices plummet the minute it is built or used. Bit more of a gamble but starting a 99p auction listing timed to end on a Sunday evening leads to relatively more interest and I have rarely not reached what I'd see as an acceptable sale price. If you aren't comfortable you can always add a reserve, but make sure it is realistic (ie: probably your current starting bid price or 10-25% lower). Reaching a reserve doesn't stop further bids being made... TBH your previous feedback won't help either with such a high starting price given the negative is also rc related. Also, people can see your completed listings and may be wondering why there is no interest in this car after it has been listed a few times already. When I sell on ebay I try and avoid things like summer holidays as interest (and bidders) appear to be lower, and there seemed to be very low prices during 'back to school' time last year (not sure if this is normal though). Bank holidays can also be a killer on final selling prices if it is sunny Depends how desperate you are to sell at the end of the day though...might also be worth considering splitting the ESC / motor from the kit and just selling each piece by itself. Bit more work for you, but you might get a better price overall Finally, check previous completed listings. There aren't many SX3's listed but will be worth seeing what others have gone for and try and work out why. Hope this helps, and good luck!
