  1. Restore to original and get it working, but I would keep it for light 'fun' use and avoid the temptation to go brushless. You will find that modern RCs such as Savage are way ahead in terms of performance. If you want a modern equivalent, I would look at something like a Summit which crawls well and can handle a more powerful motor.
  2. Great answer. I have heard nothing but good about the MT4. I actually prefer the Truggy look rather than the monster truck, so I am thinking the ST4 may be better for me. I noticed the shocks arent as good though....... Anyway, it will be sometime next year before I splash out.
  3. I would like a 1/8 brushless truggy or monster truck. The weather is usually too poor to drive though.....
  4. Hey MyDoddy. I saw your vids on YouTube. How does the Thunder Tiger compare to the Trophy Truggy?
  5. If you upgrade the spur gear then you may find that such a powerful motor will destroy other parts on your drivetrain and simply move the problem somewhere else. They are tough, but not designed for such power.
  6. Hi Abe. Yes, it was faulty charging unit. My 1st charger gave up the ghost and was actually smelling of burnt plastic, so not a good sign. I took it back to the model store and they swapped it for another. Incidentally, the new charger is working fine, but it doesnt always turn all 3 LEDs to green. Sometimes one LED is still red even after several hours, but the battery will perform fine. I am looking to get a better charger when funds will allow as the wall charger takes about 3 hours. Its not a major problem, but you really need a couple of spare battery packs. One thing I would recommend is to beef up your shell as they can break when the car flips. I have used a load of PVC tape in strategic points, but the best method is Shoo-Glu and dry wall tape.
  7. Bigger wheels, longer suspension arms, longer drive shafts, different bumper, etc.
  8. Just another thought. If you have had the car for less than 30 days it may be worth takin git back to the model shop as I seem to recall reading they have a 30 day warranty. If the warranty has expired it still may be worth going back as there could be a known problem with some of these parts.
  9. Its interesting. Mine is the brushless and IIRC Hooper has 2x brushed models, which in theory shouldnt have as much power going through the CVDs. I have run over all surfaces at high speed, from grassy playing fields to gravel covered rough waste land. No probs. I wonder if some of these CVDs are simply faulty? Is your slipper clutch adjusted to have a bit of slip? From what I have heard of LRP, the parts are quite expensive.
  10. I havent had any problems with mine and it has had some big thrashes. There was a guy on YouTube who had problems and he started using rear dog bones and axles, and said they were more durable. I will be interested to know if you find a solution.
  11. Is this ShooGoo product available in high street stores in UK?
  12. The whole point of suspension is to absorb the impacts and limit bounce so your car doesnt start to pogo-stick around, surely.....? If your car started bouncing if wouldnt be easy to control.......
  13. I was thinking of getting an order in from HK. As I understand it they have a UK warehouse, so if I order from them rather than the US it should be easier, right.....? I was a bit concerned with the plugs on their power supplies. They dont look like they would plug into a UK mains........... Or are Giant Shark better?
  14. Great stuff. Looks like you had to do a lot of editing.
  15. Youre better off startign a new thread, Buddy.
  16. I have the Brushless Carnage and I still have an Optima Mid, which is now decommissioned. The Carnage would leave the Optima for dead. Its a far bigger car and the brushless motor and Lipo battery, coupled with the 2.4ghz radio means the technology is bang up to date. Its much more of a basher than a buggy style. The tyres are about 4.5" diametater which means it is far more capable on rougher surfaces. The Mid was a great buggy though, very well engineered. I have read some negative reports on the strength and durability of some components, but I havent broken anything yet. I think a big part of the problem are these cars are so fast nowadays that if you hit something at speed it is likely to break something. I once broke a front wishbone on the Fox hitting a kerb, and that was on a standard 540. I really cant comment on the Nitro model. There are pros and cons. Nitro is very noisy and may have neighbours complaining unless you are away from it. I think they need a lot of tuning to get the best, so better suited to someone who knows about engines or simply likes tinkering. I would be interested to give the 2 a head to head.
  17. Surely a higher pinion will mean more RPM and more chance of ballooning? I have tried a 20T instead of the 17T, but the motor seemed to run hot. The stock ESC has a fan, so hard to judge temps, but I would stick with a 17T or lower. I would be interested to try some proper racing tyres as the Carnage can fishtail sometimes on loose ground under power.
  18. The brushless Carnage is a great deal, everything you need for
  19. Use 6s? Apart from the initial fun you soon realise that top speed and power isnt everything. No point if your car isnt designed for it as it will become unstable and more likely to break and crash. You need to find out if your motor and ESC can take it also. Just watch Jangs YouTube vids on the Savage and Revo with 6s. 60 is pretty rapid.
  20. The sort of thing that is used for road bike chains?
  21. Great to see so many adults on here. Sorry if it has been posted before but I have only recently joined.
  22. I am in my late 30's now and sometimes feel like a bit of a big kid driving my car when there are others around. Is this normal, or should I just MTFU? How old are you guys? (You dont have to be dead accurate)
  23. Didnt the advice used to be to thoroughly discharge before chargings to get the best out of them? We used to rig a light bulb up to a Tamiya plug to drain them. (Or was that NiCad?) You dont want to fully discharge a Lipo apparently.
