  1. Having just got one a month or two ago I say just bite the bullet - I'm running that old fave WP-SC8 and EZRUN3400KV 4 pole - worth every penny and then some.
  2. The tenshocks have a BIG amp draw according to feedback - if you go for one make sure your batteries are at least 50C and an high mah. The WP-SC8 is a great ESC, I have 2 of them now coupled with EZRUN 4pole 4000KV and 34000KV. Got mine from RCECHO e.g. http://www.rcecho.com/HOBBYWING-EZRUN-3656-4000KV-RC-Brushless-Motor-WP-SC8-120A-ESC-Combo-ME178.html Hope you get sorted
  3. Thought I'd make a little post to share my growing videos collection. The latest will always be on YouTube here but I will update this thread periodically Clash 1: Baja Bug:
  4. A short video I rustled up today whilst out. I was like a kid in a candy shop. I was checking out these babies:
  5. Vids coming soon As to the shocks it's not the caps for me (so far), as other people have described, but the bottom's which keep popping threads so the O-rings (AXA1184) are exposed. I then have to re-tighten the lower seals. It could be user error. I'm doing them the same way I fill all my shocks..... 3/4 filled, bit of up/down motion to settle things and let the air bubbles rise, then top them up to just below the top (I try to match the gap with the bladder depth), bit more gentle up/down motion to get air out, leave them for a bout 2mins, then put the tops on. There's a few leaks along the black in places - poor seal on the masking tape, but on the whole pretty happy with it.
  6. About a month ago now I won an EXO kit, I've been working on it slowly since then and now its finished I thought I'd post a few pictures of my Stormtrooper inspired EXO. So here they are: Spec: EXO Kit Flysky FS-GT3B Radio Gear + HPI Servo EZRUN WP-SC8 ESC + SL3656/4000KV Motor (4 Pole) Turnigy 2S 25C (35C burst) 6000mah LiPo The lights are 5 x Front Blue LED, 4 x Rear Red LED (9V + switch battery disguised as extra fuel tank). I have trimmed the interior into three pieces, don't use the rear as I placed mesh across the rear seats for cooling, the driver seat is fixed, the passenger seat pops out to allow easier access for battery changes. It would of had a Stormtrooper driver but you can't get 1/10th scale star wars figures unless you are paying silly money and I don't wont to do that for a figure I'm going to cut the legs off I love the KIT, I know it has a few issues but overall the kit is a beautiful piece of engineering. I think the first thing to get changed will be the shocks - 'cause they are pretty crap Next steps - beach run at Formby, what else?
  7. Nige, funshobby have the Tenshock 401 V2, WP-SC8 and program card for $139.90 (not sure about postage) http://www.funshobby.com/index.php/product-494-ADVANCED+1%3A10+SHORT+COURSE+COMBO+INCL.+TENSHOCK+SC401+V2%2BHOBBYWING+WATTERPROOF+SC8+120A%2BHOBBYWING+2+IN+1+PROGRAM+BOX+%28FREE+SHIPPING%29.html I have a 4000KV 4 pole (as mentioned elsewhere) in my slash and haven't had any issues and I have to say I was most impressed with the speed of RCECHO when I got my EZRUN (4000KV) combo from them - works nicely in my EXO.
  8. The occasional good point in amongst an abundance of ill informed, over simplified, poorly thought out, straight from the hate filled pages of the Daily Mail.
  9. There is a much more up to date map on BING maps - looks like a good place - one day I'll get to meet some of you guys. Have fun.
  10. Seems that Hobbico has purchased all HPI USA assets, to keep them from going bankrupt. Marketing and R&D employees will be staying, but most others will be laid-off. How likely is this deal to affect HPI Japan or HPI Europe is anyones guess at present. http://www.neobuggy.net/2013/02/14/hobbico-purchases-hpi-usa-assets/
  11. Thought you guys may appreciate this. Most impressive this year.
  12. I just started on mine, The "EXOTrooper", recently with some work on the body panels. Still waiting for the last my parts (FlySky GT3B) before commencing the build. I picked up a Hobbywing EZRUN-WP-SC8 + 4000KV Motor from RCECHO as the power plant (I may swap that with the HPI Vapour Pro and Flux 4000KV in my Slash as at least then I'll have the space for bigger batteries and an ESC that I can use).
  13. I believe the hip kids would use the term "tru dat"
  14. Nice vid and LOVE that body idea - especially the proper "bug" style body shell.
  15. Started with a preference for Modelsport, initially no issues but then ran into a problem and got attitude from some snotty arsewipe. Subsequently reached an agreement with his superior but the damage was done. Have not ordered from them since and switched to Wheelspin. Spent my money with them and been happy with the service but haven't had any issues so can't compare how they handle things with how modelsport did. As someone said earlier it depends so much on who you speak to (and of course how). Not saying I won't use Modelsport ever again but I'll try elsewhere first, quite often even if that means waiting. As to the bull**** patter it is, as norcoforever said, inexcusable. So you should take it up with them. If you don't complain to them then nothing ever changes.
  16. my interpretation.....basically means if you are going to ship LiPo's, especially internationally, you will have to do it 'properly' (yet to be defined and will differ in various countries involved) or potentially end up in serious trouble. That means it might cost us more in terms postage and/or the suppliers will stop shipping them to some or all non local destinations. I don't see it as a big issue but it may limit some sources of cheaper LiPo's. Unlikely to affect HobbyKing orders from the UK store but from the US/Global stores and from other non UK suppliers may make a difference.
  17. oh yes it is. Hear my MIVEC roar! Bit dirtier than that currently mind you.
  18. My Mitsubishi FTO GPX 4 Speed Triptronic
  19. that combo will work in a slash (I used to have it) but its only a 380 can in a 540 wrapper - you can't push it and it won't fly like a bigger/better motor/esc combo will make it but it will still be fun and much faster. That is now a spare and I now have an HPI Flux Vapour Pro with 4000KV 4 pole motor which is basically castle creations kit rebadged. I also just got an "old faithful" HOBBYWING EZRUN 3656 4000KV RC Brushless Motor & WP SC8 120A ESC Combo for my EXO but it would work in a slash as well.
