  1. Hello and welcome! Im afraid I have no experience with any of the above, but would recommend 4wd if you are bashing as 2wd will not be quite as able across rough ground unfortunatly.. that said the 2wd hpi firestorm is very popular on budget but that is a stadium truck rather than sct although they are very similar in design with different shell, tyres and wheel base. another option u have not mentioned is hobbykings range of trucks, cheap and a little weak but if I'm remembering correctly there sct is based on the kyosho ultima (older version not the 6) so upgrades should be possible. Durango also do a good range of sct's desc210 dest210 and desc410 which may be worth a look.. Raced the desc210 all last summer winning nearly everything I entered with it so they are more than able with the right setup. Sorry for not having the definitive "get that one" answer but Im afraid that's down to your personal taste and preference.. Personally I would increase my budget slightly to bring the more popular named brands into your sights as if you don't stay with the hobby the resale value would be much better.. No one wants a used no name brand preowned unfortunately.. Hopfully I've been some help lol enjoy
  2. Hpi Trophy parts fit m8 as it was based on the lightning :-) think they do threaded shocks as hop up too.
  3. in the past when bashing was my main thing I just put an oring liberally coated in silicone oil over the spline then fitted the servo horn making sure the seal was made but had no binding effect then silicon sealed the joins in the case including wire and screws, submerged the servo many times with no water ingress :-) simples - and cheap, may take a few go's to get the right seal/pressure under servo horn and the servo case around the spline must obviously be smooth
  4. I see this thread found some life.. Good stuff! well as of 2015 I'm up to around
  5. charge off your car battery whilst out? or grab a leisure batt from halfords and charge whilst on your way to and at your spot? Just a thought
  6. I have a set I would sell, blue in colour with closed end wheel nuts. Working dodgy shifts till tomoro eve so will find em out on sat if your interested.. paid
  7. price is ok, that's it tho lol they suffer from similar problems Hpi have with their trophy range.. Chassis made from cheese, steering knuckles disassemble them selves readily and the shocks and towers are bloody aweful... Oh and if its the brushless version the motor lasted a whole 5 laps of the local track :-0 shockingly bad
  8. charger for sale on here would service your needs http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/204573-buggies-rtr-brushless-and-loads-more-selling-up/#entry2124189
  9. welcome :-) if you don't mind 2nd hand it would open your options a lot bang for buck wise- just be sure to get lots of pictures, if you could stretch the budget a bit it would give u many more options for new kits but obviously you would have to build it yourself, buy an esc, motor, radio gear, paint etc which is where it gets a bit more expensive. your wise to avoid rtr stuff it's mostly made from cheese, with a few exceptions. however if you don't mind gradually upgrading bits when they break look at rtr's like Kyosho inferno mp9 ready set as the 'factory team' parts are interchangeable. look on hobbyking uk for batteries and possibly a charger too, look for one that runs on 12v and 240v for the convenience of charging from your car battery when out and about.

ill be honest I wouldn't touch anything rtr.. as, well... they are cra@p quality.. although they do make good door stops lol had a trophy for my first rc 5 years ago... never again if you want bullit proof and reliable look at these... mugen mbx6/7 xray 2014 associated rc8 or 8.2 kyosho mp9 tki2/3 (not as tough as the above 3 tho) maybe a vorza/d8... but personally just no as they are hpi and over advertised for their quality and reliability. avoid anything rtr unless you want a repair bill as long as your arm each time u use it lol (assuming you are bashing/racing) And before anyone chimes in to say I just want to sell mine.. well duhh obviously but i would say the same as above to anyone looking for a 1/8 buggy, buy crap buy twice.

  18. if money's no obstacle grab something like a savox 0252 or 1256 or 1258, I use all 3 in various cars/trucks with no issues in over 3 years now.. Other brands are good too like hitec, xp, futaba, etc
  19. Typed etronix 1/10 esc calibration into google http://www.etronix-rc.com/manuals/ET0405-0408.pdf :-) Even if its not the exact esc the programming menu is probably the same.
  20. adddress that iffy connector that could be the cause of your woes! I get exactly what ur describing when the terminals blacken on my deans so a 5mm -5.5mm terminal is likely to be heating up and causing resistance or cut outs. Try plugging it all in and flicking the terminal see if there's any intermittency... have a run warm things up then retry playing with the terminal
  21. Just a thought... Are the battery terminals blackened? I had a similar problem, a quick change of connectors solved the problem.
  22. I don't see anyone's name above mine? ok no worries
