  1. Mine arrived today from Modelsport UK as I haven't seen them in the Dutch shops yet. I ran about 3 charges through them and it performing well. My only minor issue with it is that the steering is very noisy. Apart from that, it goes like crazy on short carpet, gets decent speed on laminated floor, slides all over the place on tile floor, and probably will survive the cobble streets as well. The steering response is very quick. I had to adjust the steering trim on the car itself a little so it tracks straight. I first trimmed it on the transmitter but that resulted in the noise from the steering being constant. My runtime is about 10-12 minutes, charging is about an hour.
  2. Everything is a job for ducttape. Or WD40.
  3. Not just the UK. I got mine on the summer discount sale making the car roughly half its regular price. For that money I find it good value. For full price however, I wouldn't have bought it. And I think a lot of people are having similar thoughts about it.
  4. It happened to me as well. I switched to Hobbywing and will use the HPI ESC and 2200kv motor in a different car instead.
  5. About 30 packs in and no bearing issues at all. Besides the servo and motor/ESC combo swap it is still pretty much as new.
  6. Spektrum DX4S. Feels really nice and is very programmable.
  7. My Vorza with Jconcepts Illusion body.
  8. Had that with the first run of my Apache SC1 as well. Luckily I found the nut in the grass which was a huge stroke of luck as the nut is completely black.
  9. Sounds great, I'd love to see the result of that conversion Admiral.
  10. This looks like the motor will sit up really high in the chassis, I'm not a huge fan of that. Mind you I'm not a fan of where it sits now either.
  11. My Apache SC runs great out of the box, but I did need to resolder the battery cable as it got cut by the rear center drive shaft.
  12. btw, I don't think you can fit a 17T pinion on this setup unless you widen the slide slots in the motor mount plate or reduce the spur size.
  13. The 1518 is much larger than the 2200 and will not fit the standard brackets. The gear is indeed mod1.
  14. They've worked fine for me in the past though a bit fiddly to secure properly.
  15. The motor dimensions are pretty much the same as the HPI 2200kv motor though I did need to pry the standard mounts open a little to get them to fit (maybe 1 mm tops) and then clamp them down again. I kept the gearing the same. I am running 6S with 16Ah for endurance (yes that is also why I changed the battery trays, it runs 2x 8000mAh 6S in parallel) and this sensored setup (though lower in top speed of course) will help in keeping this beast going longer. It is now moderately faster than with the original setup on 4S. I could have chosen the 2200kv Hobbywing setup and only have the sensor advantage in startup, but I think for this drive style the 1800kv with the silky smooth power delivery for me is the way to go. I did have to do some cutting in the ESC tray to get the sensor cable out and the receiver wire and on/off switch on the other side. Luckily that plastic is soft so a couple of snips with the lexan scissors took care of that. The battery trays are 1 mm Titanium plates fixed on the original mounts.
  16. I swapped out the Castle/HPI setup in the HPI Super SC5 Flux for a Hobbywing Xerun sensored setup with lower KV but more torque (1800 rpm/v). Don't mind the ductape, that is to relieve any stresses on the cables.
  17. What would be a good upgrade for the schocks to the stock versions? Preferably threaded body?
  18. Btw, HPI has been slashing its prices all across the board on most of its models to sell back stock. This is why I got my Super 5SC at such a low cost as well.
  19. The Apache SC1 has some parts similar to the Vorza and D8, though I am not sure how much if it. The arms for instance look nothing like my Vorza's but they the are very sturdy none the less. I've driven the Apache a couple of sessions now (about 15 packs) and all is holding up very well and the speed and handling is excellent. It is basically an 1/8th scale buggy with a SC body on it and it performs as such. I don't know why it is so much different with the C1 as I don't have that one, but the SC1 I will happily endorse if you are not a competitive SC racer (which is of course 1/10th scale).
  20. Apache SC1 however is an excellent machine. I have one and I love it more than my other SC trucks.
  21. Very nice Jabba. Is there a track in your area where you go to? One of the sales offices of the company I work for is in that area and if I need to stay in the UK for a while it would be nice to take my RC's out for a spin there.
  22. Not sure if I posted it here or not but: I added some protection for my rear axles and shocks. At least there won't be 1cm of grass packed around the dogbones when racing the grass track again. And once again I can confirm that I hate c-clips.
  23. I totally understand, that thing is buried rather deep.
