  1. I put all new bearings in mine for peace of mind as a couple on the layshaft were very worn. They are only
  2. Rossendale Models used to be the place for them but it looks like they are no longer selling them due to the impending closure of FG.
  3. "This is my final rant, any smart remarks this time and im just gonna ignore them... " I bet you dont lol!!
  4. Finding the right set up is all about trial & error. That applies to anti roll bars, shock oil weight, spring rates, gearing, tyres and to a certain degree the exhaust. Best way is to get the standard car up and running as sweet as possible then add or change things once you get used to how it performs. One thing the marder suffers from is grip roll. If you go into a corner with any kind of speed on a high grip surface such as a field, those spiked tyres will dig in and flip it over. I fitted a front anti roll bar (against all advice on the forums!) and found it reduced the effect and suited my driving style and where I ran my car (the 4wd kit really transforms the car and pretty much eliminates grip roll) Again with shock oil, this is such a variable that no-one can give you the exact weight of oil and say there you go that is the best. I took advice from Mike1970 who races FG's and he pointed me to a shock oil which was 'a good starting point' for trial & error testing. As it turned out he was spot on so I have stuck with it. Exhaust wise I just run the FG tuned pipe. They are cheap enough and come up on ebay and give a smooth power delivery throughout the range rather than a blistering top or bottom end. The plus side with the bug shell is it fits with virtually no hacking which adds to its appeal for me. Yes there are better pipes out there but this suits me, for now! Mike1970 posted up some basic geometry settings on here a good while back, he may be able to direct you to the post.
  5. Good advice thunderwolf. That's what I did with mine to start with, full clean, make sure everything is straight, new screw & bearings, threadlock and away you go!
  6. You can covert this into a MT easy enough. They are the same chassis so basically you need the wheels and shell. There are other slight differences but nothing that you cant add as you go along. I bought a marder in a similar state to yours a few years ago for
  7. I dont think anyone will mind too much. You know what its like when you get it out & start it up, a crowd soon forms and they will be too busy gawping at the massive rooster tails to bother about the noise! On a 5 miles stretch you should be able to find somewhere quiet-ish.
  8. Porsche 959 paris dakar rally shell would be 5th scale p0rn for me
  9. Looks like you got the hang of it, its a decent job.
  10. Nice shell MIke. Did you paint it or did you get your mate to do it?
  11. 4wd bug Steve engine in my bug Marder and my son's Lunchbox 2nd Marder in bits, my Zen 26 is going in it for my son to use but needs a shell
  12. If you want something reliable and easy to work on for a
  13. Hows it going Chad. How you keeping these days?
  14. He works in Rossendale Models mate.
  15. It should work with both. I have both set ups, plastic on my marder and ally on my 4wd.
  16. I dont think I could turn up anywhere and stand and watch, thats just wrong! I was spoilt last year. I worked away for 6 months so lived in our motorhome and was out pretty much every night with it but the grass was a nightmare! It now has a Stevo engine and ally shocks on the front, just need to get out with it again. Waiting for my mate to finish building his 4wd conversion, a bloody servo horn is holding him up lol!!
  17. I had the parts in my spares box but used a couple of posts like this off the sides of the roll cage........ http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/20950/ ......a couple like this off the back of the roll cage....... http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/21073/ .....and one like this at the front....... http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/20951/ As suggested above it would be simple enough to make your own or post a 'wanted' thread on the forum.
  18. You may be right on the over heating. Look at the yellowing of the plug insulator in your pic and compare to the 'insulator glazing' example in rover man's post......
  19. I use King Cobra racing venom fully synthetic. It available down the road from me at Rossendale Models so no need to worry about ordering any in.
  20. I found the front helped but that was on my marder and not a baja. I always recommend you try them and find out what suits your driving style for the sake of 2mins fitting time.
