Didn't want to spam your thread, but go on then Slightly re-jigged a few things since those pics. Battery box is moved back a bit and the ESC is up front now, and I've made the shock tower braces more beefy, they're now made from Hyper 7 rear upper arms. Also has brand new bumpers.

I converted my Savage from nitro so for me the Alza C/D conversion was as much about having a nice neat conversion as it was about actually having a C/D. The shoe goo actually works pretty well, it's essentially 'locked' the diff but still has enough give to cushion the front and rear diffs.

Did you get much ballooning of the front tyres? My centre diff is pretty much locked with shoe goo, tempted to strip it down and unlock it though to try to tame the wheelies a little. Trouble is I don't want it to end up like my Losi Muggy was where it just unloaded all the power through the front wheels.

I think yours is XL length isn't it?

I think it'll be too short as it's designed for the normal Savage X length TVPs.

Bloody hell they're massive!

I never had any fitting issues with them, no. They fitted like a glove with the IRC fitting kit. Only 'issue' I had was the fact that they raised the ride hight too much, I solved that by flipping the suspension arms.

Are Trencher-X's bigger than Big Joes then? I'm running Big Joes and they are massive, was tempted by Trencher-X's if/when I need to replace the Joe's but if they're that much bigger I don't think I'll bother..

I've got a centre skid plate on mine, came included with the 6mm Innovative RC TVPs, which was a nice touch. If you really want to push the boat out you could fit some IRC Big Bore v2 shocks too. I've got a set and they are absolutely bomb proof. They do add a lot of weight to the truck though.

Great build! I've recently done a brushless conversation on mine using an Alza CD mount, quality bit of kit and adds a nice amount of stiffness to the chassis too. I would highly recommend the Alza bulkhead braces too, they eliminate one of the few remaining really weak points of the Savage platform.

I've got a beast of a Savage for the speed and serious bashing, but was wondering what these were like for a little 'mild' bashing, I really like the scale looks. You've answered my question pretty well though, it's given me food for thought

Awesome stuff, always wanted to do a 'scale' MT build myself. How do these things hold up to bashing? Would they take a 'mild' brushless setup?

I've only recently converted mine to brushless and I find 5s the perfect sweet spot too. I don't think RPM arms are necessary on these, I've yet to break an arm in the whole time I've owned it. Alza bulkhead braces are a must though. Mine has IRC TVPs, IRC Big Bore v2 shocks, Alza bulkhead braces, and an Alza centre diff conversion, an RCM alloy steering setup and the HPI 'racing conversion kit' (alloy hubs/uprights, rear tie-rod delete, thicker upper bulkhead braces) and it's pretty bombproof to be honest, I rarely break anything. I took it on holiday with me over the summer and hit a huge rock during a speed run on a beach. It just shrugged it off...

These are surplus to requirements now I've converted my Savage to brushless. First up is my LRP ZR.32 Spec 2. This is a beast of an engine with crazy torque. It still has plenty of compression and can hold itself up on the flywheel no problem. It is fitted with an OS8 glow plug, and a Fioroni Vario 4-shoe clutch/flywheel which didn't come cheap. Downsides are a broken pull-start cord and some marks, especially on the top of the cooling head.

Definitely not a fan of the high body, but other than that it's come along nicely Can't see those 14mm wheels lasting long with brushless power though, they used to strip on mine when it was just a 3.5 nitro!

Just done an Alza centre diff conversion to mine, I'm running a Castle 2200kv and 11/52 gearing and even at 4S it gives decent enough speeds with silly torque, temp are great too. Will be trying it on 5S soon.

Not been on here in a while, my Savage (like to the rest of my RCs) has been somewhat neglected over the past year and a have been busy moving house, etc etc. Anyway, I'm getting back into the 'game', and my Savvy has had a fairly big change. I know I never said I'd do it, but it's gone brushless! It came about when I was bored one day and decided to have a little play and see what it would be like with brushless power, so I bodged the centre diff and electrics out of my Hyper into it......and I actually really enjoyed it! So I decided to do it properly. Cue an Alza Racing centre diff mount: Lovely bit of kit. During building it back up: Battery tray and electrics in. I wanted to keep the battery in board, I don't like battery trays hanging off the side, so I've mounted it up front. Helps with weight distribution too, it's a wheelie monster so any weight up front is welcome Done. Treated it to a new shell too, as the other one was a bit beat up. Also had a cutout for the nitro engine, which obviously wasn't needed any more. Currently running silly low gearing of 52/11 due to it being a heavy truck and a 2200kv motor, but it's already huge fun, even at 4S. Going to run 5S soon, then plan to get hold of a 1717 and raise the gearing. Never thought I'd go brushless with this truck, but really enjoying the dark side

Real shame there isn't somebody who is prepared to buy the business, it's bad enough when companies go through the hoop because they aren't making money, but to see a decent, money making business shut in this way is a real shame, just seems such a waste when others are struggling

A real shame, to echo what others have said they tend to have things in stock that other places don't stock or only get to order. I've bought loads from them, will be gutted to see them go
